It isn't unique to NZ ... the Koreans do the same thing (or did when I lived there). In fact, since paying the bill is a sign of your status, you would often have two or three of the patrons at a table sneaking up to counter to pay before the others at their table could ... and sometimes fights about who is paying amongst them if they meet there.

paying at the till isn't unique to NZ. I've lived in London 14 years, first in the 90s then in 2010s, now back in NZ, but just had a 5 week holiday in London, France and Italy. In London most places I went to eat, I paid at the bar/till. In France, Lyon and Nimes in particular, it was a mix of paying inside or at the table, and in Italy, more often than not we paid at the till. There are also places in NZ where they do bring the mobile terminal to you at your table, its not like NZ is only at the till.

It’s funny but there are a least half a dozen topics that could equally apply to Australia…love our birds, it’s bloody big, expensive, paying at restaurant, cost of flights, servo food, no shoes, coffee. We are more alike than we care to admit! Our indigenous culture isn’t as prominent as it should be. it’s a bit tough when there are so many different languages but it is also not given the respect it deserves. Amazon next day delivery is amazing!

Nice information. I just have a doubt, how can you say that NZ it is expensive for you if you came from London. London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. I think if you compare prices from other cities or people fromf different countries could be acceptable.

Please do not fly VietJet too many problem and no helper. July2024 Saigon to Nhatrang fly was canceled and replaced 6+ hours later. VietJet did nothing/No email/No SMS and "SAID" credit to my name and my wife for future use. Also We can not transfer to anyone. I am from Sydney/Australia and this is my last time with VietJet . There are no comparation to Jetstar and Australian Standard. Reply

Expensive for what it offers, terrible service, lazy people, pollution in the rivers by farmers, native forests destroyed to open space for more cows, you drive hours just watching cows and no native forest..crime rates going higher and higher, gangs does what they want to ,police has no power to take care, the law is not equal for every one , two different justive system for different groups, health service is a desaster, you will stay hours and hours with your sick kid to get some feedback..you need to pray to dont get sick, otherwise you f* up..the list could go on and on, if you thinking about to move here think 10 times and do you research, big disappointment, believe all this fame is a lie, leaving it in 2 months, finally.
