The Grapher App is a tool native to all Macs. Apple's Documentation is not the best for this tool. However, that does not mean that it is not a powerful tool! I use it for all of my calculus homework to get a sense of what is actually going on. Best of all its already on your Mac and you don't need to buy or install anything! I will be using this application in the future as a visual aid for my math videos! I will also make a video for alternative programs for my non-Mac users!

I learn everything pencil and paper FIRST. Then I use the calculator. . Great advice!!
Very helpful video, it was great to see them both in use.
Some university don't allow this calculator
I like that you are suggesting, strongly suggesting, that students learn to do things the long way too. Real world, the NCEES only allowed the TI 36X Pro or lower. My grandson is a Jr. In high school. I am getting him the TI nSpire CX ii CAS for Christmas, but he is also getting the TI 36X Pro to go along with it. I'm a retired Land Surveyor and I always had a simple calculator along with the powerful, more complicated, version. Right now I use the HP Prime G2 and the HP35s. Both are great calculators too. I worked in engineering offices and on land development sites since 1975 until I retired a few years ago. I've always liked HP, but learning the TI nSpire CX ii CAS has been fun. A lot in there but the big advantage is the wealth of educational material online frim TI Education and TI Australia. Stuff for teachers and students. This was an inspirational video. I wish you the best in your engineering career. I enjoyed the parade of challenges throughout my career in civil engineering and geomatics.
This is the best video ever.
I’m starting my studies in mechanical engineering, will this be the best calculator?
:)
Remember the new ti89 has the case not the first one
U can just do an equality test alone instead of using the solve function...it does the same thing but it won’t give u an error.....
LOL @ allowed Graphing Calculators in school, Junior year in E.E. and still havent encountered a class where graphing calculators have been allowed, with the exception of stats. Also, remember, when taking the FE Exam, only scientific calculators are allowed.
None of these calculators are allowed on exams lol
Isreal the non CAS is allowed on most exams in the US and Europe. The CAS model can only be used on a few tests including the SATin the US
amazing.
Thank you so much! I was having trouble deciding whether I should go for the ti 89 or the ti nspire since my ti 84 final crapped out on me. Engineering major so I'll sure I'll need it!
I Love this calculator. It SAVES precious minutes on exams by finding roots of crazy polynominals which is just a step in the actual problem or even just typing in a looooonnnnggg equation, other calculators slow down when scrolling to see if you typed it incorrectly. Not this baby. Finding eigenvalues and eigenvectors are fast as heck too, especially when it's just something you need just to start the problem I bought a used one for 125 on ebay and a new battery for it for a total of 135. BEST CALCULATOR - Mechanical Engineer student senior.
which one did u use, the cas one or the other one?
My hp prime would like a word 😉
Hey, I'm supporting this fundraiser, please have a look - 'TI-Nspire CX ii CAS' dm2.gofund.me/tinspire-cx-ii-cas
I really wish you would keep making videos! I’m entering calc 3 right now at PNW in Hammond, and I recently got the Ti-nSpire CX CAS II since my Calculus classes no longer had a restriction on calculators and because I knew the CAS would really help out in future classes like you previously said. I would definitely love more videos on the calculator since there is a law of them on UA-cam I also wouldn’t mind videos about your major and school too since I am also in the Engineering Department, specifically Electrical Engineering.
I will try, I have a very busy schedule but I do intend to upload more
Alexander Quilty lot*
I recommend turksvids, Charlie lindelof and covenantbird...they all use the nspire.....
Phenomenal video. I don’t know why this doesnt have way more views
The Ti-Nspire CX CAS ii was released on March 7 2019. Do you think it is worth it for 157.55$? This was the cheapest I found it on.
yes it is!! i m using it you upload lots of things.
5:05 this is false. Calculators use CPUs and do require processing power.
@@ee-il2nq never implied that they don’t
Hey, I'm just getting into college and am in a Mat 121 course, I am going in for engineering but don't want to have to buy multiple calculators thought my schooling. I would rather learn and invest in one that will take me straight to graduation. I worry though, that the teachers may ban these types fo calculators at such a low-level fo math. Is that "a thing" or is this an empty fear.
From my experience with college, most teachers don’t care/ are too lazy to outright ban them specifically. If they do it’s mostly the professor just bein a dick. More often than not my classes have been all calculators being allowed or none at all rather than regulating the kind
also is there any way to create an array? and index element of array in sigma/summation for example? Thanks in advance!
is there any way to do matrix multiplication in mac grapher?
I've never used Grapher for anything. Grapher is not in the Applications Folder of my Macintosh HD. Be careful of Grapher. Several months ago Grapher showed up out of nowhere into my dock. The result was that my older version of Adobe Reader was deleted and put into my MISC folder on the desktop. I could not delete Grapher from the dock. A day later Grapher disappeared by itself. Yesterday Grapher was again in my dock. This time I discovered that Adblocker has been removed from my Firefox browser, and yes, the next day Grapher was gone. I do not trust Grapher is a graphics tool, but a disguise for something else and wonder if anyone else has similar experiences.
Grapher is built into mac OS so if you couldn't find it before, it's because you messed with sth or put it into another folder etc. If you're having problems with Adblocker, its most likely the Adblocker itself, because they are adons and don't always function like they're supposed to. Again Grapher can't possibly be harmful for your Mac, because it is a built in program like iTunes, Mail, etc. Everything you described above just makes it seem like you installed some other malicious software or messed with some files.
get checked for paranoia bruv
Hi RJ ~ I used the TI-92 and the TI-89 when I went through the Calculus sequence. I have since purchased the "Titanium" version of the TI-89 and, quite frankly, I think that it would be hard to top. Having written that, your video has "n-spired" me [sorry for the messy cheese whiz] to do some more research on the TI-Nspire CX (with CAS) and verify whether or not it has everything I've become accustomed to with the TI-89 Titanium. Thanks for the productive video and, assuming it can do everything I need to do, I look forward to moving from Black & White to Color (just like we did loooong ago with our televisions). Thanks again.
Great video mate, keep it up.
Great side by side demonstration guy! I have an HP 48G and think I'll upgrade to the CAS.
I just bought non CAS, not knowing the difference, is it possible to do the same problems and get the same answers on the non CAS?
You'll be able to do the same problems, for the most part, but It won't be able to solve symbolically.Which is HUGE. It's still a very powerful tool but you'll be forced to solve everything numerically, and there are some extra programs and functions built into CAS, but the majority of problems do not require these.
Thanks RJ for your explanation on the TI Nspire CX with CAS vs without, it gave me the final push.... CAS it is for me. Thanks again!
Not a problem, glad you found the video useful!!
One of my professors literally checked our calculators and reset them. Only one in my schooling career has ever done that though.
Thats kinda ridiculous 😂
I'd like to see you build the following: The sum of two vectors. The difference of two vectors. Animate a cube that rotates around an object and keeps a constant orientation, that is, the same face continuously faces the center. Please do this in small steps. Thanks and good luck to you.
I’m a working professional engineer...worst thing you can do I buy a calculator like this as a student. Do your self a real favor and get an HP35s, mechanical pencil, and a good eraser. Using tools like this will keep you from learning what you need to know to be a good engineer. Push a pencil and not a button.
Jeremy Guillory after taking literally every math class more than once in college I’m just gonna get the calculator. I know the theories and formulas, I just blank on the procedures for the tests. I’m up to Differential Equations now.
Once you know the material, I don't think its necessary to prove to your boss that you can carry out an integral😂. Student's who need a calculator of this magnitude are invested in their education substantially and know how to use it. It's not for Algebra 1 students.
Engineer X To start, the 35s will do integrals, but that’s not the point. When you start working, your calculator will only be used to the quick calculations that you do regularly. Any heavy lifting you will need you wouldn’t reach for a calculator but something like mathcad or matlab because the complex calcs won’t be formatted well if done on a handheld. Also you can take a 35s or similar calculator to the FE and PE exams. You are right that when you get out that your boss won’t expect you to bang out integrals, but just today I had to do some integrating by hand and I’m 15 years out of school and was happy I still could. My point is that as hard as it is, you are better off suffering through and doing it by hand or the long way. Also spend a week with RPN and you will be flying through calcs way faster... guaranteed
HP's are good for engineering.
is it possible to animate 2 parameters at the same time?
and great tutorial!
Thank you very much for the information. I am thinking of studying mechanical engineering and want a good calculator
This would be good to check answers but its best to use a more simple calc as these wont be alowwed in exams
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed the vid
what I use my calculator for is: To check problems I have already worked out manually. It is no fun letting the machine do it for you. That would be like hiring someone to sleep with you wife/husband/significant other. Just ain't the same thing.
jesuisravi that’s fine. But if you have a solid understanding of what you’re doing already let the calculator do the work. No one is benefiting from doing problems by hand over and over again. Engineers are paid to find solutions in a timely manner, not show everyone that they can find an anti derivative. And if you compare not having fun because you’re using a calculator to letting someone smash your partner, you probably aren’t having sex in the first place.
@@engineerx5551 well, think of it this way, for some people algebra is more fun than sex...takes all kinds.
jesuisravi there are some equations that u can’t do by hand and that u need a calculator for: for example, finding the cube root formula. That stuff they don’t teach u at school...machines are preferred than just hands alone.....
Equating using a calculator with adultery..!?!. Seems a bit of a stretch.
i baught the TI Nspire CX CAS for about $190 canadian. still worth it.
100% I'm using mine at this minute lmao... so worth it.
I think the non CAS model should be discontinued.
agreed
The CAS version is not allowed on certain exams, that's why they still keep it around
@@jvanegas14 You can soft mod the CX to a CAS by switching the firmware/os
I disagree. The non CAS version is very important for students that are in pre-calc or lower courses as most classes and the ACT do not allow you to have a CAS.
Thanks im gonna get the CAS for when i try to go deep into the maths in my free time
How to download the app?
