I can distinctly remember the technological advances of 2008 versus 1997. Therein lies the problem of Hollywood movies trying to predict the future, especially with regards to technology. CLONED was no exception. The movie director was prudent to portray people and society in the future 2008 looking pretty much as they did in 1997 because that is exactly what happened. My 1997 self could have walked into 2008 and fit right in, my clothing style remaining almost the same. CLONED anticipated widespread use of the new-fangled Internet accurately but it could accurately show how that Internet would look like as it actually turned out in 2008. And that it interesting because my Internet in 2023 looks pretty much the same as it did in 2008. CLONED wasn't able to predict future items like digital cameras, PDA tablets, MP3, iPods, iPhones, wider use of laptops, ear buds and Bluetooth. Granted, there were things that were more widespread in 2008 than in 2023 such as digital cameras, now largely replaced by Android phones and iPhone cameras. The MP3s and iPods and PDA tablets are gone, replaced by current technologies. Technology advances so fast, coming and going and it's hard to keep up, much less predict. Already the folding cell phone has just been introduced and that is certainly going to grow large in three years or so.

fun fact: the house scenes were filmed in Belcarra, B.C. in my current house as well as my old house that is now torn down. They built the tree house for the movie and we kept it up until the property sold and they tore it down, but it was super fun to play in as a kid.
