This channel is all about being creative, getting messy, and having fun. You can expect to see all things mixed media, drawing with pencil and pen, paper cutting and glue, and experiments with new and unknown. I’ve never officially studied art but that doesn’t prevent me from enjoying it, continuing to learn, or from sharing my artistic journey. Always be reminded, it’s not about the destination, but all about the process and experiences we share along the way. If you’re ready to have fun and get messy … welcome to the journey!
I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

Mixed Media Art Journal - Put Your Worries in a Bubble
Seems like a common theme with my art journal pages is often how much I struggle with the process and feel like I'm always having to "fix" it. Maybe everyone feels the same way. Even though I struggle with it at times, I still so enjoy the process.
The theme for today's spread is to put your worries in a bubble and let them blow away. Whatever your challenges are, your struggles and worries of life, you can't let them keep you down! Every moment in life is such a treasure and should be experienced with joy in your heart. Our struggles strengthen us in ways we can't understand until we've pushed through them, right!
I got this bubble idea from the Creative Cove and the video is linked here.

I sure hope you enjoy the video and we'll see you next time.

Mixed Media Art Journal - Believe in Yourself - Paper Painting Process Video
Переглядів 20211 місяців тому
Hello friends! I really enjoyed this paper painting project. I'm not gonna lie, this was a very time consuming project, but I REALLY enjoyed it. I enjoy getting into the details and I absolutely love trying new techniques. This was fun! I used an image from an old calendar as inspiration and pieced it together using basically scrapbook paper scraps and glue. Of course, I also used a few more su...
Mixed Media Art Journal - Enjoy the Ride

Hello friends!! Oh my goodness I have had a few really crazy weeks, full of stress and frustration. It's times like this that I know the best medicine is to get into one of my art journals and have a play. I found an image in a magazine that reminded me that sometimes in life you just have to enjoy the ride ... both the scary parts and the fun parts. I hope you enjoy! Supplies and Products used...
Start the New Year with a Blank Canvas
Переглядів 192Рік тому
Happy New Year Friends! I find it hard to believe it's 2024 ... I still want to party like it's 1999. But alas, I must continue moving along with time like everyone else. Like many others, I found time after the holidays to get into the art studio and play. I've decided my theme for the year is a "Blank Canvas". Starting a new year always feels that way, and I definitely want to start fresh wit...
Inktober 2023 - A Zentangle Inspired Project - Part 2

Hello Friends! I had so much fun with Inktober this year! I followed the challenge list issued by Stepahnie Jennifer CZT from Seven Forests Five Rivers Although my work schedule was chocked full of travelling, I still managed to keep up with the daily tangles. The hard part was finding time to edit all of the video. I know I'm late, but I want to share how my project turned out. This is part 1 ...

Create Simple Paper Pumpkins - Fall Decorations
Переглядів 713Рік тому
I had a fun getaway this past weekend with some friends. The theme was Fall Fiesta and it was my job to come up with a craft project for the group. So I decided we would put together some cute little pumpkins using supplies you probably have laying around your house. We used old book pages, an empty toilet paper roll, hot glue, double sided tape, PVA glue and whatever you want to decorate the t...
Mixed Media Art Journal - The Practice of Making Art

I recently bought the Color Cube package by Sarah Renae Clark (www.SarahRenaeClark.com) and have been so eager to put them to good use. She did a fabulous job putting together convenient cards with color palettes for inspiration. I would love to do an art journal spread using each one! Today I'm using the very first one in the set 001 (only 499 to go!) I finally found some time to dig out my mi...
Neurographic Inspired Drawing in my Art Doodle Love Journal
Переглядів 253Рік тому
I recently discovered Neurographic Art and I'm hooked! I don't follow the traditional rules of Neurographica, but have adapted some of the basic beginnings of it into a way to doing some mindless doodling. I find that this type of drawing is very relaxing and soothing to my soul. Join me in as I walk through my thought process and complete a spread in my neglected Art Doodle Love journal by Daw...
How to Make a Needle Storage Folder
Переглядів 94Рік тому
A while back I saw a video by Nik the Booksmith where she made a cute little folder to store needles in and I've wanted to make one ever since. Well, I finally got around to it. I had company in from out of town, so I was a little distracted a couple of times, but it was a fun video to make regardless. I hope you enjoy watching and if you decide to make one of your own, let me know about it! Th...

This is part 2 of my Summer Zentangle Project. I hope you enjoy! Designs used in the video are all original patterns by Zentangle: Scena, Printemps, Facade (variation), Quabog and Bunzo. Melt Away your Stress - Summer Zentangle Project - Part 1

It has been such a chaotic summer and It's been way too long since I've posted. One of the things I tend to fall back on when I'm overwhelmed by life and completely unmotivated to be creative is intuitive drawing or Zentangle. Both allow me to shut down the chatter in my brain and focus on the pen and paper. I hope you enjoy Part 1 of my Summer Zentangle project. Also, I am a Zentangle CZT (Cer...

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing went right? It happens to me more often than I like, but I never want to give up. I've had projects I didn't go back to for years because I was so lost for a remedy or final resolution. Well, this week's spread was one of those experiences for me. Everything I tried seemed to create a bigger mess and leave me horrified by the results. I just want...

I like your comment, "No going back." Lol! so true! Also, a posca pen makes everything pop! I learned a lot from your video, thanks!
Thank you so much! I learn something every project I do and so glad you gained something too.
Kristina this is beautiful, you should be very proud of this!! I watched the lady at creative cove too, and yes she is a good artist, but so are you. I agree, we always criticize our first attempts at the beginning of something we want to do. I like the fact that you took her idea and created something so unique and beautiful. Please take a bow. You really deserve it❤🎉
Oh my goodness, I’m so humbled! Thank you so much for the compliment. I still have lots to learn about watercolor and I sure enjoyed this project.
@kristina-rae if you wouldn't have taken us along on the journey, I'd never have known it was a first..love your creativity! Gluey fingers are best!
Amazing…..I’m so impressed! Brava. 👍🏾😃Deb
You are sooo kind, thanks!!!
So lovely and so inspiring. I’ve only just found your channel, but I’m loving your work so much and learning plenty too. Very happy to subscribe. 😃👍🏾Deb
Aw! Deb thank you. I’m not able to post as often as I’d like but please keep checking back.
Absolutely beautiful work! I love it. 😃👍🏾Deb
Thank you Deb!!!
Beautiful and inspiraing - Thank you !
Thank you so much! 😊
I like the contrasr in the end. It is hard to be loose and messy.
Thank you! I so want to loosen up with my art… but I think I have a long way to go. 🤣
Ohh I love to doodle and zentangle ❤ Susan in Az🥰🏜️
Ooooo girl doodling is the bomb right!!. If you tell me you love glue too you might be my soul mate. 🤣. And thanks for having my back on the last “hater”. Too many people so ready to be offended.
Hello! I really enjoyed watching this video and your thoughts behind the processes. I've totally been on a bubble kick lately in my small journal. Id love to give these bubbles a try. Thanks for sharing! Subbing to your UA-cam Susan from Az❤🏜️
Thank you so much Susan. Who doesn’t love bubbles!!! I will recommend a little practice first 😊, but they were fun once I figured out the right mix of paint to water. 😆. I can’t wait to try different colors too. Have fun!!!
Only a few minutes into this video, and you have already put me off, by (again) demanding that I “appreciate” what you are doing! Now I have lost all interest ; I am not a sheep for you to herd!
I certainly don’t recall demanding anything and very sorry to offend. Thanks for the comment.
@@kristina-raeWOW that person sure has some issues...hope they get it worked out❤️
As always a great video and illustration of the process
Thanks Deb!!
The carpenter bee male is just trying to keep his territory secure and does a great job at it. He helps to make sure that the female is safe to lay her eggs and raise the young. He actually can't sting and is harmless. They are important pollinators. Bullying is serious and thank you for bringing up awareness and ways to prevent it.
So funny how so many people still run from them. Thanks for watching!
Hey Kristina, I love all of your bubbles including the dark ones but your final project is really beautiful. I love it.
Thank Elizabeth! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right. So glad you liked it.
Hello Kristina, these bubbles are amazing. I enjoy watching you figure things out. The end result was beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
Lorie, you are so kind! Thank you. Half the fun is figuring it all out right!?!? 😆
Nice to "see" you Kristina. I'm always so excited to see one of your videos pop up in my feed. You made me laugh out loud at the "creepy eyes" comment. Maybe that will be your next page! You simply amaze me with your artistic magic. That bird is just adorable. I loved watching every minute of your process. Such a beautiful result!
Lorie, thank you so much for sharing with me. You make me blush. ☺️ the owl is definitely on my agenda … he is so stinking adorable!
It was just a joy to watch how the picture developed. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for letting us share it with you. X
Thank you Lorna!
I really enjoyed this one!!
Thanks Terry!
I really enjoyed seeing you, hearing your thoughts and process, and watching it come together.
Thank you so much!
I really enjoyed watching you create this simple but beautiful spread. Sped up camera is perfect. Looking forward to seeing more of your art. Thanks
Thank you so much!
Your art is just what I would love to be able to do. At 83 it's a bit late to start now but I'll just do my own version & enjoy looking at yours. Thank you - so enjoyed your video. X
Awwww, Lorna, Thank you!!☺️ I say it’s never too late, but I get it. Everything definitely gets harder as we get older. My momma’s 83 too and shares your sentiment. 😉
Love it!
Thank you so much Lorna! 😃
What a beautiful girl! Never cut anything you think is not working. It was so refreshing and lovely to hear you laugh at yourself. It’s so enlightening for us who are struggling to learn. I’m a color lover- there’s never too much! Totally love everything about how this turned out. Please keep making videos. Do you have an instagram account?
I can’t begin to tell you how often I get frustrated with a spread. The struggle is real! 😂 I do art to have fun so if I can’t laugh, it must not be fun. I am just starting to get my instagram going. I will link it to my profile soon. Thanks again for your kind words. 😊
I'm a bit torn - the short-looped music snipped is madness inducing 🤨 I only managed to watch the whole video because it was interesting to watch how you made the image your own. The result is great 🥰
So sorry about that!! I’m still learning and I really appreciate your input. Something is also happening with the volume levels after I upload that I can’t figure out. Don’t give up on me and I’d love to get your thoughts on future uploads. ☺️
Love this! May I please have the pdf instructions? Thank you.
So glad you liked it and I would love to share it. Try this link www.dropbox.com/s/f04sb9g4k1aa4bd/Icosahedron%203z%20Gem.pdf?dl=0
Gorgeous!! So much texture and depth!!
Thank you so much Shona!
Tutorials are enough on their own with the voiceover. The music alienates a lot of people. There are many who will be triggered by sensory overload from the visual, voice and music. It's such a shame because it's an interesting video.
Thanks for your feedback
great illustration of the process of designing a mixed media page !
Thanks Deb!
Like your style.
Thanks!
Happy New Year! Love this layout so much.
Happy New Year Lori! Thanks!!
This turned out so pretty ❤
Thank you Shelly!!
I’ve been on a medication that’s made me depressed and I haven’t done much art lately. This has totally motivated me to give it a try. Thank you! How did you make your textured stenciled part green?
I’m so glad the project motivated you!! I believe I used a green Adirondack spray on that too.
Thanks for sharing; it was also very relaxing too.😊
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful! I enjoyed watching your process. Thank you for sharing!
I really appreciate your kind words and glad you enjoyed. 😊
Lovely work! It is so peaceful to watch you draw.
Thank you so much!
Kristina, I adore that you were able to laugh at yourself while expressing your creativity and pushing through to get the end result, and it is beautiful!
Oh Dawn, thank you so much. And hey, when you have such good comedy material, why not laugh 😆. My favorite part is the elephant nose. 😉
I resumed the #dyicad2023 & just did a small sample zentangle using some of what you did. My first. I love it for the dimension & the flaws. I posted it on Instagram.
Be careful… it can be addicting. 🤪And the flaws are the best part, they give you something to work on perfecting. Keep it up Terri!
@@kristina-rae lol…I’m addicted to art.
You have no idea how much I needed this inspiration. Gorgeous.
Terri, thank you so much and I’m so glad you were inspired. Now go make something beautiful!!! 😊
Wow! Your shape and colour balancing is spectacular!
Thank you so much!!
Absolutely beautiful 👏👏👏👏👏💕🌸🇮🇪🦋
Thank you so much! ☺️
How wide are the paper strips and what glue are you using!
The strips were random widths (I didn’t measure) but close to 1” - 1.25”. They were about 9” long. The glue I used was art glitter glue. I don’t recommend glue sticks.
😂
Glad you enjoyed! I had fun making this one. 😆
I’ve just found you so I am seeking more info. What size, kind, style, type name brand, etc. of journal are you using?
Typically I use something with sturdy mixed media pages. I love the Dylusion Journals by Ranger. This was done in a bullet journal I got from Hobby Lobby (not recommended).
Are you working that fast or is the camera sped up?
OK I want to come play with you!
I’m happy that you know who Bob Ross is
The small girl in back has alien eyes. 😝
Yes it’s sped up at times. BTW, I wondered how long it would take for someone else to see the alien 👽 eyes LOL 😂
This is your therapy…it looks to be very therapeutic.
Absolutely! Love it.
Did I miss the length of the strips of paper?
No, I failed to mention it. The book pages I used were about 9”. It’s all about the details right. 🤪
I am seeing real pinecones collected from outdoors and real brown leaves also. Just bring nature indoor.
Thank you for the strip links. Yes, it is in the details. But I’m also seeing this being able to be made out of orange construction paper, and maybe even my grandchildren being able to make them as gifts.
I think real leaves, acorns, pine cones, etc. is a really good idea.
Would you share the stamps you used to color thestamps
I think you are asking about the ink colors I used. I used Adirondack Color Wash sprays by Ranger. Red Pepper, Sunset Orange and Meadow.
These are just too cute! I can’t wait to give them a try… dishes vs paper pumpkins…🤔🤗
Rochelle I’m so glad you like them. Definitely go with the paper pumpkins! 😊 They were so fun to make.
Really cute pumpkins! I’m going to use old sheet music to make some!! Thanks for your video!
Oh great idea! I might have to try one like that too. Thanks for sharing.
Those are adorable!!! How long were your straps of paper?
Thanks Terry! I used a little bit larger book so the pages were a little over 9”.
Thank you!! I have to make this !!❤
I’m so glad you like it. I absolutely love mine. ☺️
