What are the 2 or 3 empty spots on the plug but the relay has prongs where the wires aren’t.. what do those do? Can I run a wire from one of those to make fuel pump work
I literally just found this problem went to go out my 05 5vy won't start can't hear the fuel pump prim so I opened that relay and it had already been opened but looks in a bad way so I need a new one now I think
ottimo lavoro👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 grazie
Salut mon amie m’a pump essence se lance pas mais lés fils ont bien de la continuité et j’ai testé m’a pump directement avec du 12v elle fonctionne bien pensez vous c’est le relais
Show when you open the cover of relay, ?
Walter could be a component within the relay that needs replacing or new soldering maybe when he was soldering he dropped some sold or somewhere on the relay and it’s grounding out Or the wire was bad. When you bypass a wire in a relay it’s going to send some kind of signal to the relay that it’s not in use so it’s gonna show a problem
hey kevin i have yamaha r1 2009, My issue is that my fuel pump does not start and when the mechanic checked the fuel relay. it was working but it is not throwing current to fuel pump then mechanic made a direct connection to relay and its working and the meter shows check light now so i am still not fixed if you can help me that will be much appreciated. Regards, Mubeen from pakistan
Did the check light automatically come on after he got it running if it did then he jumped into that wire and he needs to relocate his power source but if it didn’t then it’s another issue normally a check engine light I have something to do with a relay there’s usually 45 under the seat and another two or three down by the radiator up in the fairings. Maybe the relays have a faulty sensor you have to read on your manual or have it tested does the bike seem to have any issues overheating power surges anything
Run direct line from the battery to the fuel pump and see if that works? Under seat there’s a box like in video. Trace the line coming back from the fuel pump to that relay metre it and see if you have coming out on the other side on a different wire, the same current, the most likely be the one with the lowest Current Then you need a jumper wire the bypass relay
Awesome. thanks Buddy.
No problem 👍
Do you know how to test if this is the actual issue with a meter?
Yes you plug it all in and start testing each one turning on the power key and see which one doesn’t work and when the one doesn’t work when you try starting your bike that would be the fuel pump then bounce to the fuel pump to see if the power is getting there if it’s like seven something then the power still getting there when you turn the key on and off usually that relay has safety shut offs you can bypass this by tracking the wire that goes in to the wire that goes out so if six wires go across the bottom rail three of them are gonna be in three of them are gonna be out and you have your power your negative your constant power computer wire in and out back up computer wire It’s pretty simple just test the wires going into it one of them won’t light up maybe two of the malt then you trace the wire to where the power is
Yeah, your metre to see if you have the right Current going through the wire on both sides and if it doesn’t then the problems within the relay but you can always jump direct wire to the fuel pump. It’s got a built-in relay are ready you can meet her that is if you get The right volts. Every bike is different, but he usually ranges between nine and 12
@@kevinjex7419 can this relay be the cause for no spark on my 2001 yamaha r6?
Where is the relay located?
Under the seat towards the back right beside the computer but there’s other relays in the front on the left side and right side as well as three more relays under the seat on the left side
Under the seat
@@kevinjex7419 do this relay control spark as well?
Thanks very much for posting this. My datatool alarm finally packed in and I think either during that problem, or patching the cables up to bypass the unit, I've managed to damage the relay - I've probably blown one of the diodes. The symptom is the sidestand switch now turns on and off the neutral light, and the neutral switch doesn't operate the light any more. It's not a deal breaker obviously but I've traced the wiring diagram in the service manual and the only way this could happen is if something has gone wrong in the relay unit.
Thank you so very much for the info, fixed my R1 issue I have been fighting with for 3 days.
Awesome this!
Np
i have yamaha r6 2002 5eb what fuel relay make in bike and can i remove it forever
Can bypass the fuel relay by taking the wire going in with the power directly to the fuel pump But you would still need the relay for other things light signals etc.
This really is a multi relay multi functional relay A newer bikes they have a single relay with four wires one controls the fuel pump and the other controls the front dash lights

@@kevinjex7419 do this relay also control spark?
Excellent explanation of the relay. I have a 2000 R6 and the relay that I got is off a 2006 R6 and the fuel pump relay number is 5VK-81950-40 G8R - 30Y - I was doubting myself ordering it. Any advice on a no spark situation? Thank u for ur time in this
Did you fix your spark issue? I also have a spark issue and someone told met that this relay can also be the culprit. My fuel pump is priming fine though
@davidhardin2403
Thank you!
Where is the relay located?
Id like to know too!
Under the seat left side
Under the seat on the side walls or on the back round the fuses it’s gonna have a lot of wires going into it. But different bikes have a separate relay for fuel only as well as lights with fuel so if you’re taking it out other things might not work but you can always bypass by using the wire going in and directly putting it to the fuel pump
Man. Great video. My fuel pump was garbage on my 03 r1 so I replaced it and it didn't prime unless it had direct power.. the relay that I opened up had some very serious corrosion so I did what you told us not to do and tossed it. It was beyond repair. I have a new one on the way that should be here this week. I am very much hoping that it solves my problem.. anyways thanks for this video! It really helped!
