Spike reminds me of an ex boyfriend. He was not good for me, he was an addict and there were so many issues that came with it. I wasn’t nice to him either, but he forgave me, I forgave him, we were together for just a couple of months but keep in each others lives for years. If a needed anything I could call him, he would always pick up. He would help me every single time. I know, cause he told me so many times, that he was still en love with me. That us not being together hurt him. He used to tell me that we would find each other in another life. I haven’t heard from him in months and I know I can’t follow him were he’s going😢 but no matter what happens he will always be close to my heart, he protected me as much as he could :(

This relationship is what made this series for me! Spike understood Buffy for who she really was and wasn't afraid to call her on her bullshit, making her stronger in the process. Flip side, Buffy made Spike realize that he was tired of what he'd become, and there was room for change, making him retake his life for himself for the first time. This is what character arcs are supposed to look like. Take notes! ^_^

I love that Buffy and Spikes relationship goes beyond the romantic. She believes in him and he is able to finally redeem his soul by making the ultimate sacrifice in the series closer.

I enjoyed Spike's character development and as much as I loved him with Buffy she didn't deserve the love he had for her. I always felt sorry for Spike because it was like he was never good enough for Buffy and she fought so hard against the love she knew she felt for him. I can't say it was better than her and Angel, just different because Angel was her first

Since, Buffy will unfortunately never get over Angel, I like to think and hope, that the new ensouled Spike finds someone else who would actually return his feelings.

I watch these scenes and I don't feel any love between them at all. I see two very unhealthy people incapable of real love because of how damaged they are. They're a lot alike, relate, and understand one another. But their "love" is built on fear, insecurity, unhealthy habits, codependence, and toxicity. I think one day with a lot of introspection, therapy, and healing, they could genuinely come to love one another in the way that is truest and healthy, but until then, they're just broken people using each other, conflating bits and pieces of love they've experienced in the past and warping it into a dance of sadomasochism.
