    That’s the point of the ending in my opinion, it’s about him giving into his joker persona, giving into the madness, finally getting noticed and applauded, but only because of the violence he committed. It’s the tragedy of a man who got what he always wanted in a twisted way, showing us how rotten society can spoil a man.

    • @SiddEEE

      I definitely see what you're saying and I do think the ending is heavily implying this. However, I argue that it's not earned because Arthur should have conflicted more with the people who are ignoring him. He should be consistently trying to prove his worth and arguing with these figures in more than just a few scenes. On paper, I'm all for the societal degradation and Arthur being claimed by a movement, but the sequence of events don't fully convince me.

    The first Joker movie works well as an amusing What If in which superheroes and supervillains don't actually exist.

    Although I liked the message in Joker 2 that taking anyone hard enough will kill their dreams, I really wish Joker 2 embraced some of the ambiguities in the first film more, I.e., did Arthur ever even really leave Arkham after he saw the paperwork? But, then, we couldn’t use male on male rape as a means of character development. And, I didn’t pay $9.50 to not see a rape…

    Because the origins of Joker are unknown, besides the cartoons, you seen this in dark knight when batman is trying to figure out where and who the joker is even his face recognition didn't know or couldn't trace who joker was they painted joker as a villian but as this joker movie was just events that unfolded after he escapes hints why at the end when he's laughing the lady asked what's funny. And he replies, "You wouldn't get it. Cause the events never really happened, it's to leave the origins of joke unknown which is why you came to this conclusion very understandable. But great video. I think joker 2 would give more clarity on joker hopefully cause. We're talk about a mentally I'll patient who's has traits of schizophrenic, BPD with socialpathic psychopathic tendencies. If I'm not mistaken. Also the whole purpose of joker is to show that "All it takes is 1 bad day" hypocritically a collections of events to lead up to this joker which is why he's targets batman and torments him couldn't get him to break so he targets superman and jason a.k.a robin/redhood and does what he intended to do to batman. To make him snap but in the comic books alternate universe batman taking joker to jail joke reveals he's going to do it again and much worse which he kills joker there and then and turns himself in.

    I think it also hints heavily that the Presidents followrs in this timeline, they are like a cult. Like the suicide bomber in the beginning of the films. The army and secret service units that defend the White House in the later part of film, they remind me of SS in Berlin 1945. So would have been interesting to heard more about that led to the three teams and civil war.

  • @Tom-ys5ik

    The movie is nonsense. It presumes that "JOURNALISTS" are still the Walter Cronkite/Paul Harveyesque variety "good guys". Modern media are propaganda outlets that are spinning facts and telling outright lies and pitting us against each other, fanning flames of hatred. The Majority of Americans no longer trust the media. Then there is the unlikely alliance between States that have totally different cultures and economies. The Military? would they follow orders to use Apache Helicopters against Americans? Then there is the issue of State National Guards, very unlikely they would support Federal troop actions in their respective states. So the film is very unrealistic and impractical. Now if the film makers would have factored in the millions of illegals taking up arms and refusing deportation, establishing autonomous zones that would be more likely.

    you would be able to understand the movie better if you get into the shoes of a journalist, you have identified the key point but i encourage you to understand them better....most reporters dont get time to process what they go through, they become numb and kinda of dead inside over time,...the movie captured that isolation and the lack of time to process ones own emotions , yes we see and acknowledge whats going on, thats the job...to report...to document even if it may seem pointless and often there is no time to be human in that process...

      I don't think the video argues that the point isn't salient, I think the main character actually pushes the message of the movie at the beginning, and then the movie kind of just proves her right? There's no real ideological opposition or back-and-forth, and the video's arguing that makes for an uninteresting watch. Also the idea of a modern American Civil War isn't at all necessary, you could use any war-torn country to make the point the movie's making. Hence the title; the premise is a lie.

    That’s the point, it could happen anywhere and it happens in the U.S.. Not because the U.S. is special but because it is not. The President doesn’t give you some 1776 final line he just doesn’t want to die. Which means that whatever he did all of this for doesn’t fuel him in the end when faced with his own mortality. It tells you that at some point the only reason everyone was fighting for him was because he just didn’t want to die.

    a lot of people seem to be missing that this movie is not about politics or propaganda, it's about photojournalism and images being used to tell a story (the question is - whose story?). In the film we don't know why the states seceded from the US so its a bit of a guessing game as to who is right and who is wrong but thats not relevant Watch the very last bit/the ending again when jesse takes the shot of the soldiers and the press guy standing over the president, thats the image that shows what really happened. But what a lot of people miss is that there is another shot that appears as a closing credit shot where the soldiers are over the dead presidents body, smiling and showing v for victory signs and the press guy isnt in the shot. The first shot immediately before the credits is the truth, the second shot in that fades in after the credits is the shot that would be published by the winners/the WF. IMHO that was the point of the movie - the images we get to see are rarely the entire truth

    I agree with your take on the Thomas Wayne reveal I didn't think it brought as much to the film as it should've but I don't agree that batman was "gastlit" in his similarity to the Riddler. I think that this is a valid thing to feel as a vigilante/hero. I feel like you question how you're inspiring/influencing the people in the city that you're trying to save and when a masked murderer is claiming to be inspired by you I think you question it and take a deeper dive into yourself. I do agree with what you said about whether the batman at the end of the movie would react in the same way in the subway situation the movie leaves you to guess on that which I didn't mind but valid point.

    • @SiddEEE
      @SiddEEE 5 місяців тому

      “I wouldn’t question Batman re-examining his mission after his meeting with the Riddler but it’s wild to me that he’s using a sample of like 12 people who just tried to commit a mass shooting based on an obviously distorted version of his ideology as inspiration to change, and I think it’s made less effective when the movie doesn’t give us a clear idea of how Batman has actually changed. What exactly is he going to do differently? He talks about hope but again, our only demonstration of his change in direction comes when he saves the people who were trapped. He’s not making a real choice there. He doesn’t have to choose between saving civilians and beating someone up. He has to choose between saving them and just hanging out in the rafters. And so, to me, the moment doesn’t end up representing anything, when it’s clear the movie wants it to be a demonstration of Batman’s new outlook. I used the term “gaslighting” because I don’t think the movie adequately makes the case that Batman’s doing anything wrong, but it still, in a way, blames him for the entire conflict.” - theshwath

    • @kata.global
      @kata.global 18 днів тому

      @@SiddEEE I can see your point in which he wasn't really forced into a decision on whether to "hang in the rafters" or save the people but I do think it's a choice that batman makes and commits to. It shows that given the opportunity he would save gotham a place that has taken so much from him and still in his eyes is in a pretty shitty state. I think that's the difference its the city giving him the chance to be something more for them and he takes it which is equally as valuable in my view.
