The only inaccuracy is that he was bored and happened to find out what Sam did, which is why he was murdering locals to get Sam's attention. He didnt start out that way, he followed her one day and happened to see her in the act. It corrupted him. I only bring this up because the character is written to be. Sam did this all indirectly whether she wanted to realize it or not!

The moment that Lola revealed that she knew all along both her “best friend” and her son are serial killers that savagely kill and mutilate their victims and thinks they can just talk it out I was like. “Alright in the laws of Darwinism you deserve to die”

4:35 I just thought it was an attempt of a tastless joke since he killed her in school n thought it be 'funny' when they find her body

I kind of suspected that DIY camera 🎥 was for Somthing 😅 sexy . Like Bedroom use. That’s why the parakeet was so embarrassed when Sam picked it up and gave it back to her.

I suspect the killer didn’t kill the turtle 🐢 because he wanted the body to be discovered during the height of the parade, and if the mayor went missing, the parade would’ve been installed.

I’m curious how she was able to climb that fire escape, despite not having any fingers ? 😅

I really love this comic, read it twice back to back and probably will read it again in the future

I love Stray Dogs. It’s a beautifully illustrated comic and the choices made for the art and the story really draw me in, which helps me really feel the fear of Sophie. However, as an animal lover, knowing where this story goes and what things we see, it’s definitely a comic I have to be in a specific mood for. Otherwise, it can ruin my whole day.

Terribly awful conclusion! That opening image of googley-eyed Aric is abominable! I didn’t think it was possible to make the most savage comic hero look like a teddy bear! 🧸 Also I didn’t know I was reading Thyra-manowar with that subverted ending where Thyra nerfs Aric and rescues him like a damsel SMH 😂

Good review. Having read the issue myself, I generally agree with your comments. Getting FVL back to write this title was an excellent move by Alien / Valiant, as he continually demonstrates that he "gets" the characters better than other recent writers on this title.

I think Sam should have been male, especially considering an overwhelming number of serial killers are men, with very few women.

Looks exciting cant wait to read it.

I think that Emiliano is better at doing covers.

I just read it all and pre-ordered the paperback after this- what a ride. As for other comics that gave me a similar feeling of dread mixed with these visuals- I would highly recommend “Beautiful Darkness”.

Soon as I saw From Hell I instantly thought of the film From Hell starring Johnny Depp ALSO about Jack the Ripper.

The thing that comes to mind after reading this comic is the ending to an episode of the Twilight Zone that I saw back in the day: It involves a seemingly ordinary woman going shopping only to find out she is one of the mannequins having come to life. An odd connection to make but the ending narration is what ties it to Beneath the Trees: Just how 'normal are we?" What is really going on with the people we say our Hellos and How do you dos? What do they do behind locked doors and drawn blinds? Hopefully it's not serial killing. But I think more people than we care to admit (ourselves included) have our own versions of bodies buried in the forest. Parts of ourselves we don't want others to see. Partly to keep us safe from persecution but also because they are ours and ours alone.

So glad your talking about ( beautiful darkness) such a dark but confusing story

I am VERY, VERY, new to seriously reading comics. But I really liked this. It does have a lot reminding of Dexter HOWEVER, Sam is very different from Dex, and while it’s a small morale change, it still makes a good story

battle royale with Sam vs Flippy from Happy Tree Friends vs Azulin from Unicorn Wars when?

Tony Fleecs, the creator of Stray Dogs, is also working on another comic called Feral, which basically combines Homeward Bound with Night of the Living Dead.
