22 Tundra Heretic Bumper Light Bar Install
Thank you for sharing this video 🙏🏾
Will these work with a 2023 Big Bend plastic bumper as well?
been wanting to see how these actually light up compared to stock headlights even the photo on your website shows how it lights up but with the light bar and shock tower light i wanna see straight headlights to see the difference between these and factory and if they throw as far as i’d want my headlight kit to throw
Dont be so harsh on yourself bro, good job...
haha thanks!
I have one on a gen 1 Watching this install makes me even more happy to have a gen 1
Great video, I've watched 20 times and took me 5 hours to get everything installed and run. Thank you! At 7:00 you say there is a chanel for the lightbar wire with 2 screws... I can't find that! Could my Bronco be different? "22 Badlands 4 door with Trailrax and lightbar cut out.
Too bad the quality of these is awful. They don't last.
When did you order? I'd be happy to look more into it and help out. Please message us and we will get it taken care of with the lifetime warrany.
Great video, thank you. Why not install the light bar so the cord just runs down the window on the other side like I've seen others do. Tucking it into the chanel on drivers side windshield. Also I didn't catch how to wire this to the Aux switches.....
Actually that is totally possible as well. At the time, we were showing this as a route to run the wiring since that is where the OEM wiring runs. Since the OEM is not sufficient, we ran ours through the same path, but there isnt any reason why you couldnt go thought the driver side pillar. Thanks!
Thank you, I just realized my cable is too thick to fit in the narrow chanel... Damn it. Also do you have to take the Trailrax crossbar off to get those cariage bolts in?
@@larrycole1991 yes, you just need to remove the screws and it can usually move up enough to slide the carriage bolts in and then you can refasten the crossbar again.
FYI, those are T40 plus bits (T40P) on the bumper. You have a greater risk of stripping them using the old style torx bits.
Great catch! Thanks!
the 2024 models don't have the "crack" or opening near the a pillor/mirror trim anymore. not sure how to run the wire because there is no space
Interesting that Ford made that change! We will see if we can get one in here and take a look. My guess is that it may just need to be done similar to how it is done on other vehicles, either by creating a small notch by trimming, or possibly finding an edge that has some give and running it there. Thanks for the comment!
what headlights are those??
These are the replacement headlights that we make!
with that much space i would put a 30 inch light bar instead of 20
Given the mounting points and how the brackets would have needed to be shaped and bent to prevent too much flex and vibration, we decided to go with the 20". A 30" would have to be a much more expensive bracket!
Do y'all ever sell the brackets on their own?
yea! Give us a call and we can get you set up!
Video is useful but like another person aaid we really need a video showing how to get the bundle through the firewall into the passenger footwell. I just cant digure it out and i am stuck. It doesnt seem like anyone else has any details on that. Can you help?
Hi Bob! there is a rubber grommet that sits just behind the washer fluid reservoir. The video does not show it, and I will send this up the chain to have it adjusted! It may be helpful to loosen the bolts on the reservoir which will allow you better access.
It is challenging getting the wire through the grommet. I had to unscrew the coolant to get at the grommet and then poke a hole in the nipple, stick a chopstick through it to open up the whole a little and then run the zip tie through, attach the wire to the end of the zip tie, lube it up with a little dish soap and then push it through the grommet. This is definitely the hardest part of the install.
Would these fit in the 2021 Wildtrak bumper fog light casings?
Unfortunately not at this point in time. We only have kits that will fit the capable bumper, and the modular steel. But we are working on one for the Wildtrack bumper and hope to be done soon!
How come no matter what foglight video I watch, nobody unplugs the battery? I dont know anything about electricity and it scares the hell out of me but I always assumed when cutting into wires, you always want the electricity off?
not needed on low voltage. Granted it is safer because if you ground a positive you could melt something or blow a fuse and that can become a headache. But you wont get electrocuted.
Thanks for this video but would have been better to incorporate some close up shots of the cables being passed through areas such as the firewall grommet or channel for the terminal at the top. It’s difficult to get a good visual of a lot of these steps from a distance against a black car interior/weatherstripping. Anyway, just finished my install on the Trailrax and very happy with the look and output.
Thanks for the feedback! Totally can understand that and will pass this up the chain for both future videos and a re-shoot of this one!
So true, I can't find the spot he ran the wires on the roof, or the screws he was talking about, esp with how dark the video is.
The new models comes with a switch and a relay JD1912… does that need to be trimmed as well?
is that light bar street legal
We are in the process of finalizing the SAE compliant versions but at this point in time we only recommend these for off road use.
How would you compare and contrast these instructions with whats online on your website
Actually those need to be updated! They had the old way we recommended of doing the wiring, but after some issues with the OEM wiring, we now recommend running our included wiring harness all the way.
This wiring makes no sense. The Tundra original fog lit lights already have a wiring harness and switch . Why not just use the original harness.
Our replacement fog lights are significantly more powerful than the OEM lights and the OEM wiring is not set up to handle that much power. The wiring we provide allows you to safely run a much more powerful fog light setup, while still using the OEM switch to turn them on and off.
Would you guys recommend the amber's for the ditch lights if you're planning on running the 40" lightbar on the Trailrax roof rack in clear?
We've got half the shop who would say yes, and half that still love the clear! Really, it depends on your style of off roading, conditions and personal preference. But we are seeing more and more amber ditch lights!
What is that wire running tool?
That would be a giant zip tie! Really anything that is fairly stiff, yet also has some flexibility will work!
@@hereticstudio And what is that lubricant you are spraying on it?
@@TIMPORTER100 the window cleaner that’s in the spray can is a great rubber lubricant!
Where can I get those 3 little lights on the bottom of the head lights? 🫡
I believe that is a street legal kit, which is not something we sell.
Can I wire this into the existing electrical system? I'd much rather power thr lights up using one of the pre-wired Aux switches. Thanks.
You certainly are able to, but what we have found after some time is that there has been some issues using the OEM wiring. There have been instances where the OEM wiring has caused issues. Once we became aware of these issues, we started to include a full wiring harness so that these issue can be avoided. You are still able to use to the OEM upfitter switch, we just recommend allowing the power to the lightbar run through our harness rather than the OEM wiring.
I did this and the lights do not work using the pre-wired wires. If you follow this video the Aux switch will still control the light. But you are skipping the pre-wired stuff that is located above the passenger visor and also behind the glove box.
Where and how are you passing it through the firewall? Are you making a new hole in the giant rubber grommet under the expansion tank?
Yea, we go right through that grommet.
@@hereticstudio what does this grommet look like? Is there a picture I can reference?
Glad to finally start seeing options available for the Capable bumper. This bumper is like birth control for front end mods.
haha this comment! Yea we have both the 20" bumper bar kit as well as a fog light fit for it. Check it out!
Can this be installed on a gen 3?
Unfortunately no. But we are working on some 3rd Gen kits so keep your eyes out!
Which kit?
This is the 3rd Gen Tacoma Fog Light Kit!
What would happen if you have a 1/2" or 1" wheel spacer ?
You shouldn't have any issues.
Installing mine tonight, can't wait.
We cant wait to see it!
I like that your brackets allow you to keep the air ducts, I've seen a lot of videos where they do not re-install them. I imagine they are there for a reason, so keeping them is better than tossing them...
We had the same thought!
Awesome light. Installed as well as amber fogs
Thanks! Glad your happy with them. We appreciate the support!
What's the wrap on this bronco?
I believe its and Avery Dennison paint protection wrap! Looks great!
Where do you mount the harness relay?
Just use one of the included zip ties and there are a number of points you can attach it to that are out of the way.
Why do you need that harness? Thats ridiculous just use the adapter or buy one that is plug and play?
The OEM fog lights are very low power. When we bump up the power, this the amps drawn, it’s necessary to route the power though an external harness. The OEM wiring just isn’t built to handle the additional amps.
@Heretic_Dave yea ill take the lower power as its on a switch and it's something ill be running daily not offroad
To each their own for sure! Just so you know, our kit retains the functionality of the OEM switch! You use our provided adapter and harness and you don't lose any OEM functions, just gains in output! @@dman5703
@hereticstudio931 I understand but the fact you got run a harness and hook it to your battery and all that is just not something I see a reason to invest 600$ for. You can add pods or a new light bar and get more benefits plug and play is more functionality for daily driving. To me at least
Love these! Great product and video 🔥
Glad you like them!
#rude I think the same about mine
Haha! Well now you gotta show us some pics!
This would be so useful on my truck right now!
We have found so many uses for them already!
These lights are so sick!
We agree!
Show install
We have another clip uploaded of the install!
We also have the full install here. ua-cam.com/video/LKp68jOQFl0/v-deo.html
Just put some yellow vinyl over the OEM ones. It looks just as cool -and will save you hundreds of dollars.
Yea never mind the whole part about the huge difference in useable light output vs the OEM fogs...
@@hereticstudio that’s cool. But not relevant enough. Don’t get me wrong I’d get them if I had the cash. But mostly as a flex. The visibility factor is just not a concern of mine.
The wire harness also comes with a relay that doesn’t seem to have a natural mounting location. What did you do with it?
Wondering this halfway through the install.
Depending on the vehicle, we usually will secure it to existing cables etc with zip ties as often there isnt a great screw or location to hard mount it.
Awesome install! We will be sure to share this to our customers!
Please do!
Do these lights come with covers for when not in use?
They do not. In time we are looking at those options.
I love this guy! He's got great calves!
He's the best!
You are not the only one that does this, but why show new light install WITHOUT a before/after picture in the dark? I would like to see the difference in the dark, unless the only reason to install is to look cool, then why wire the lights at all?
We totally get it! A lot of times, its either a super close up shot against a garage door or some wall, which doesnt really provide any info. Also its hard to get our cameras to not adjust for the extreme bright lights. But we are working on it and hope to have some soon!
