Got this LP, just bloody magnificent! So wonderfully demonstrates both Judith's astounding voice and singing ability, as well as her love of jazz. And bloody hell she was an absolute gorgeous stunner as well! Won't be another like her, RIP dear Lady, all class!

I am forty and Judith Durham was one of my favorite singers. Hearing her sing in this style is such a joy. Even though I am saddened by her death, listening to hear still can make me smile

Jordu wrote this jazz standard and fled to Europe but it was Roach & Brown who "owned it".

I got to hear a lot of Stitt around the time of this recording, both at Ratso's, a club where I was mixing sound, and at Joe Segal's Jazz Showcase, which was the first time I heard Barry Harris, who soon became one of my very favorite pianists. I recorded Stitt in both clubs, and the Showcase set ran on NPR's Jazz Alive. My masters from both clubs are in the LA Jazz Institute's archive.

Great playing by Raney and his all-star rhythm section. On the down side, it illustrates how jazz producers in the 1970s were sometimes making worse-sounding records than the stuff made in from 1955-1965 on usually more primitive equipment. Richard Davis's bass sounds like a rubber band (probably a direct input from an pickup into the mixing desk) particularly on the opener "Momentum"--the ballads for some reason have a nicer bass sound. This record could really use a 21st-century remix and re-release. Fortunately, the original mix puts the bass only in the left channel (combined with Raney), and the drums only in the right channel (again combined with Raney), and you can thus do a "homemade remix" to tame some of the mid-range bass snarl and get a more balanced presentation.

Irving Sidney "Duke" Jordan was born on April 1, 1922, and died on on August 8, 2006, at the age of 84. He was one of many jazz musicians who lived to be octogenarians and nonagenarians. He recorded from 1954 until 1994. From 1984 until his death, he lived in Denmark.

Thank you for uploading this hard to find classic album. This was the first Sonny Stitt album that I bought (on vinyl) when I was teenager. Stitt plays very melodically on this record, and it’s a great bebop rhythm section. Very nice to hear this session again! Well done!

So nice to hear this great album again! I had it on vinyl back in the day. Stitt seems relaxed on this session, and a bit more Prez influenced. Any album with the great Barry Harris is a plus too.
