Homestead Field Trip!- Cotton Ginning Days😚
Переглядів 192Місяць тому
Every year Dallas NC hosts a weekend called Cotton Ginning Days. It’s a festival attended by over 25,000 people every year that showcases how things work back in the good old days. From grinding your own cornmeal, to churning your own butter, it has just about everything you could think of from yesteryear. We had a blast as the Cabin Creek Family took a field trip. We got to ride on a tractor, ...
Chicken Pumpkin Carving (Will it work?🤔)
Переглядів 251Місяць тому
A recent trend has been for farmers to have their chickens carve their pumpkins for them! We’ve seen it done dozens of times but never tried it ourselves. Well, since October is here and it’s fully pumpkin season, we thought we’d give it a try. Watch and see if our chickens do as well as others have!😊😜
Farm Tour (Hurricane Helene Aftermath Version)
Переглядів 193Місяць тому
Lots of folks in Western NC were hit hard by Helene. The destruction is awful. Please pray for the families affected and the recovery efforts. Lots of folks have asked how the Cabin Creek Farm is so I made this video to show the damage (albeit minimal) that hurricane Helene caused. We are blessed and thankful.

A Valentine's Day Surprise What Is An Easter Egger?!
I incubated the eggs. On 5th I saw lot of veins clearly but after 6th day I dont see any veins.
😊😢0
My hatch rate is always less than 50%. Looking forward to implementing some of your tips. Thanks so much!
Awww🥰! What a smart donkey! He put together that your the new caregiver/ new mom and he asked you for help. It must have been really bothering him.
Thank you so much for that information. I was searching to see what the neck symptom in my baby crow was due to. God bless you.
Awww a baby crow?!
Oh my goodness! Carey! Yay! Carey and a good friend, Courtney, would ride at my trainer's, Jesse's, place. SBMEAC time with Southeastern Reining Horse Assn. This is so awesome to see Carey in her true element. Animal people always know a friend, who knows a friend, who knows a friend. 🥰
At day 13 i saw no signs so i took all 19 eggs from the incubator, i broke couples of eggs the egg yolk was intact as taken from the fridge. Non of the eggs was fertilised😢
No way!!! I’m actually worried the same thing is happening with me. I wonder if the weather change has caused the rooster to take a pause in his duties 🤔
@cabincreekhomestead761 This is exactly what just happened to my 18.Eggs.. Originally I had twenty four and used 6 of the oldest ones towards a Quiche. 5 out of 6, I could see the embryo in the yokes.. .
Ok confused. I'm the instruction book it says to OPEN the humidity valve all the way up for the last 3 days. How does opening it increase the humidity. Is that not backwards? You say close it? Which one is it
I was so confused as well. They want the vent open so that there’s really good air circulation, but in some environments it’s really hard to keep it open and also keep the humidity way up. What I have discovered is keeping it in a small bathroom is the best way to keep that vent open but also keep the humidity up because you can just rely on hot showers to increase the humidity
This step alone makes me NOT like this one. Like if you open it that's gonna lower the humidity. I just keep the unit in my mancave. Guess I'm just gonna close it about 3/4 the way and see what happens . Guess I need to get one that controls the humidity on its own
I support you. Let’s both get the cabinet incubators. We deserve it 😆🤣
@cabincreekhomestead761 i got this thing closed like 90% just to stay around 50% humidity. I don't know how the heck I'm gonna get up to 70% humidity
Thanks. Very informative video. So i had my eggs shipped and seems like the air sack has moved in the eggs i have. So what do i need to do differently?
A lot of the air cells get “saddled “during shipping, and you’re supposed to let them rest for about 24 to 48 hours before you start hatching
😊 Thanks so much for the easy tips.... Day 5 with 18 Australorp eggs here !
Gorgeous bird choice 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@cabincreekhomestead761 I love all types of Chooks! I've just finished smashing the infertile eggs onto the tomato plants., before watering them in.. Not a good fertility rate. Boo hoo me! Do you have a favourite fowel? 🙏🏽
Straight to the point and no life story, thanks.
Oh don’t watch my other videos 😆 I’m a yapper 🙈🙈🙈
Thanks for the info on BT. I was afraid to use it on my fruit trees because I was worried about the bees.

Good job 👍👍👍
girl you are supposed to take out the yellow rotator in that incubator on the start of day 18 incubation, otherwise it’s hard for them to get out bc they get pinned, I know this bc i have the same incubator
Thnx girl!
for the record they can't :(
Can you help me how dose the egg look like if there is a chick in it
Where did you get test kits?
it's amazing
Oh, the banjo music made me giggle while watching the fast forward motion! HA!
Is this a new exercise program for the minis?!
Hiii im your niece carolines best friend!!
Hi!! Thanks for watching!😊
OMG your so beautiful ❤️
Oh my gosh yeah I guess 😂🤣😂 you guys 🤗💓💕💞
Rip chickens and pony
Oh boy
Thank you for explaining this so well! I wondered about the breathing and air sac:-)
I don’t know why they get so much hate. They are truly a very cool fruit.
Absolutely love this fruit 😋
Such a BIZARRE fruit in my opinion. I always expect it to be just a little acidic and it isn't at all
Why do people say to raise the humidity on the last 3 days but the unit says to fully open the grey air vent on the last 3 days?
The membranes need to be supple and moist so the chick doesn’t get stuck in it. A dry membrane will shrink around the chick causing it to be immobilized. The vent being open is important for fresh air to circulate
They Akshay kill things they slipstream and get killed, sick and have babies. Hard life for them.
can you do it with a random bird egg that you find in a abandon nest
Thats interesting, I didn’t know they absorbed calcium from the shell and in turn it made the shell thinner. You learn something new everyday 😊
I disagree with make good friends but I do have barn cats
😂True. My husband would disagree with that part as well
One of my cats hunt, the other just doesn’t but atleast one cat is helping with the mice
Awesome!
We're really glad to know that the nesting pads have been a great addition to your coop. It really means a lot to us! Thank you very much for the positive review and Happy Clucking! 🐔🤍
Our pleasure!
They’re great! The girls love them
That was so wonderful beautifuly awesome!!!!
Oh my heart what a sweet thing to comment. It was so wonderful to participate in!!
Can you put more eggs in then the incubator states xxx
It depends on the style of turning. I add more to the ones that roll, but it’s not possible for ones that rotate in a row of nesting cups 🩷
So glad you are safe. My heart aches terribly for our friends in WNC.
❤️🩹❤️
❤️🩹❤️
Thanks for the basics for a coop. I just got thrown into the chicken world last evening by finding a roo in the middle of nowhere. Dude is going to need some ladies.
Team Roo Rescue!!!
Thank you for sharing .... great information!!
So glad it was helpful 🩷
So grateful you guys are safe. Will continue praying that all the people that lost everything are safe and getting the help they need. All of the volunteers and workers continued blessings and strength helping all that need them 🤗💓💕💞
Thank you! 🙏 We are praying as well
😂 you guys are the best. Thank you for putting a smile on my face. Just got my husband out of the hospital. I needed this. Great job girls and boys 🤗💓💕💞
❤❤❤the chickens really enjoyed the pumpkin 'and its so fun how they managed scrap the whole inside .lovely for the decoration
Yes! Thank you!😊
Gaylord Divide
She may have had trouble turning because the yellow piece is still in the incubator. It is supposed to be removed the last three specifically for that reason alone, to give them room to hatch.
The yellow turner doesn’t effect hatching or mobility, I’ve hatched leaving the turner in for over three years now
My rooster was fine till we put him into a cage between 2 other roosters. I think he hurt himself fighting thru the cages because a few minutes later his head was upside down. It has been several months. I am taking him out and feeding him by hand. He eats good but after a few bites or drinks, he lets his head go back upside down. How do I help if it is an injury?
Hi!🎉
Hi!☺️
oh well 🫠
I'm not sure when I was a kid we would help my mom and dad with the beans. I think there's two kinds one with the string and one without?????
