Ive got 8 and 6 pound flouro. I pretty much never use anything but 6, but might be worth trying the 4 in my home water thats super pressured...like all places anymore. When i used to use both i never noticed a big difference in strength tbh. A big fish will break both if you dont play em right anyway. Im fascinated with nymphs as well...and i use spinning tackle...and centerpins...and a fly rod. Ive had periods where ill only use one and not the other. I just like the versatility i get with the first two. I need a new box, theres 50 flies around my vise with nowhere to put them

Totally agree on the Cabelas rod. This was my first fly rod, Cabelas Vector. I am still using it today. I also broke it once and they replaced it free of charge without the receipt. Great video

Nice fish! I want to get a splake! Just got back from a two day at Newcomb lake. Caught a 30" lake trout right off the bat and lost a pretty nice smallmouth bass. All from shore at fish rock leanto. Was a good time! Mid may same deal kinda. Windy at times but.. Saw some loons too but never seen them race like that before... Very cool captures. Love the ADK's!! Gonna keep trying new places. Always lookin for the next honey hole/killer camp locations. Stay save guys! Fish on!!

Id take that beat up first fish, we dont get browns in the Ohio tribs. Idk why they arent stocked, at least in the Erie tribs. Also, kinda looked like a bird might have tried to get that fish. Ive talked to pond owners that wish they could shoot blue herons because if they cant gulp a fish in one bite theyll still kill it. People find big fish that they stabbed in baxk of the head

Got back into steelhead fishing this year, i used my spinning rod but before i stopped doing it for a number of years i used both that and the fly rod. Switching to a centerpin for this fall, but anyway i remember one day as a kid on the chagrin nobody was catching a damn thing, i tried flies, eggs, jigs etc. The two i lost were the only fish i saw hooked...except for the dude killing them on a hares ear. Opened me up to the idea of fishing anything on spinning rods or pins, and i dont go anywhere without hares ears now. Only flys that come close are egg sucking leaches, buggers, sucker spawns and copper johns. Youll get random days where they want something goofy like a san juan worm. Edit: ive not heard anyone mention weight factor of glass beads. Beads are another one im trying this year, and i dont fish runs much deeper than my waste and my main rivers get clear so fast i like it when i can add as little shot as possible

Killer male steelhead!!! Dark color, nice red stripes. That one you lost was a pig. Just happens sometimes, he just jumped and shook the hook. That baby carp was weird too. Almost thought maybe it was a giant golden shiner at first but i think your right its a baby carp. Cool! Probably had a big steelhead whack at him. Cool spot, water was muddy and still did really good. Was that a thingamabobber indicator or wool? Fish on!!!

Nice setup! I started with similar but was a cortland 7/8wt. My uncle likes Ross reels. He used to use the Ross gunnison which was pretty affordable at the time. Dicks sporting goods also sells an affordable field & stream pine creek 4 pc rod reel combo for like $119. Great starter setup but i noticed with those you kinda have to check the reels before buying because ive seen a few duds. Ones that either folks screwed with instore or factory defects but i bought one thats been good. I have found 10ft seems perfect for trib steelhead but u can use a 9ft. I also carry a spin rod noodle rod setup as a backup. Nice to see more women interested in trib fishin! You know your stuff! Good luck out there! Fish on!!
