Fret Installation & Dressing - Part 3 | Gibson ES 125 Restoration | Andy Fleck

In this part I hammered the frets in and made a comfortable feel and look of the fret ends. Unfortunately I lost the video material about the fret leveling and crowning process. But the next fret job isn't far away - stay tuned! Restoration Of A Gibson ES 125 - Part 1 | Andy Fleck
Переглядів 7492 роки тому
I'm going to build up a naked Gibson ES-125. Including some repairs like a side crack a top seperation, I will do a refret with higher frets to get a standard from nowadays. Although the ES is in a very good condition, I go through all those little steps to get a new guitar with an old face. Kudos to you, my friend, for your extrodinarily efforts and job well done in the resurrection of this guitar! Thank you, for you have earned my deepest respect and admiration for your efforts! -E-
@@flybybaby8008 thanks for your kind words 🙂
Very nicely done sir. I enjoyed that cover.
This is not a restoration. It is a modification
Kicks make it more amazing :DD
That's awesome.
Did potassium permanganate do anything on the metal hardware? Looks great on the plastic though
It left a brownish veil on the metal parts, especially on rough surfaces like the Bigsby engraving. Looks like tobacco smoked 😁
@@andyfleck8146 Thank you! I will give it a try
@@andyfleck8146 Cool. do you remember if it did anything on Chrome hardware, too?
@@squidpeanut yes it does, just like real "schmutz" 🙂 I have to edit the last parts and put in online, I want to make a full ending section where I show high quality pictures and I wanna do a big comparsion to my original '53 and the poshier bigger sister, a '56 ES-130. Keep joining 🙃
Just bought a new nut for my es125, do you have any string recommendations for a twangy country/bluegrass sound? I had flats but didn't like the way they sounded, and also had to get my nut filled with polymer to keep it from buzzing with them in lol
Hi! I would just go with normal roundwounds in any gauge you like, but the material is important. If you play it as an electric, be sure to use magnetic strings like nickel plated, if you play your 125 as an acoustic, you can use phosphor bronce or any kind of acoustic sets just to develop more volume, brightness, etc. These strings also work with a magnetic pickups but of course not that good. Hope I can help :)
super cool
cool midnight rambler cover in there
Ha! Expert ears 😁 That's our band you can hear there, Flaggerman Jansen! 🫡
Did you brace the neck for the frets over the body?
Magnificent!!!
My frets came right out on my ES125. Very clean, I think I had two tiny chips to deal with.
fire!!
What size wire did you use?
It's the stewmac brand, same dimensions as Dunlop 6105
I found a es125 for a good price was actually thinking of adding a bridge pickup myself. Why not right?
As a Rock'n'Roller I have to agree because now it's a very versatile guitar 🫠
That bridge looks so damn good, what a great job!
Thank you :)
Jawoi Fleck
Awesome
You nailed it dude. You motivated me to go grab the guitar and attempt it myself. Don’t think I’d be able to touch this. Keep it up!!
Thank you for your kind words! Keep it simple and keep on rollin' 🙂
Beautiful cover, man! 🙌
Thank you my friend 🙂
Deserves more views!
Thank you! 🙂 Just an unplugged track, never thought that anyone cares 😅
Much better process than others. Good job man.
Thank you very much 🙂
breaking bad krass 😎
killer sound

Hi, Judging by the shape of the head and the tailpiece this could be a Framus Sorella, the body looks the same, the scratchplate / pickgiard is not Sorella's , but I'm not totally sure, grz Leo
I found out it's a Lignatone, made in czech republic back in the 60ies ✌
love it!
Geil gmocht und vü Spass damit! 😉👍
sounds awesome!
Beautiful combination, reminds me the great raw tone of Freddie King.
Thank you! Yeah, this was Freddie's combo, I tried to sell the Bassman a few month ago, nobody wanted it. After this video (made for a potential buyer, also hesitated) it was clear that this beast has to stay on my side 😁
Nice playing!
Fantastic brother
Best guitar cover
Love the Spirit :)!
Liked this 👍
well done
