    This is great! My son is almost 22 months. He is in speech therapy currently. He hears the world milk probably 15X+ a day but he will not say it. I usually just bring him his sippy cup already filled but I love this idea of bringing him to the kitchen to get the milk/pour together. Thanks!!

    My soon to be 5 yr old always uses left molars to chew and it is difficult for him to rotate food to the other side. If we deliberately put food on other side he would drag it instantly to his favorite one and then chew it that too in very large time span. How to help him.?

      Hello there! We apologize for the delay. This sounds like a great question for a feeding therapist. There are many different underlying reasons he may be doing this and the cause will help identify what strategies will help your son the most. He may be doing this because on that side he has the most control over his food so safety-wise his body automatically moves food there. I would highly recommend getting a feeding evaluation with a speech-language pathologist or occupational therapist to get a personalized plan that will be helpful to your son! If you are in California please feel free to check out our services at mebefamily.com.

    Hi. How do we help them get motivated and joint attention and help them understand.

    • @MeBeFamily
      @MeBeFamily 10 місяців тому

      Hi there! I apologize for the delay. This is a great question and it can be very difficult at times to start the process with your child. I would suggest first starting by imitating them when they are playing, even if it doesn't quite look like playing. For example, If they are opening a door and shutting a door of a cabinet I would open the other side and close it as the child is doing it (imitating them). I would wait for them to possibly notice that I was doing the same thing by looking at the door I am opening (the start of joint attention and it can be motivating to a child to see their impact on someone else) and seeing if they open their door then look to see if I open mine. I would also try modeling the words "open" and "shut" as I was opening and shutting the door to model and pair language for understanding. This can feel silly when your child doesn't seem to notice or imitate right away, however, this is how we will start to enter their world and help them engage with us in a way that is fun and makes sense to them. It may take a lot of time so don't give up if it doesn't work the first time! If you need further support please reach out to us at mebefamily.com.

    What about a child who doesn't have words yet?? How do we communicate with them

    • @MeBeFamily
      @MeBeFamily 10 місяців тому

      This is a fantastic question! We will start at their level. So if they are not using any words (depending on your child and how they process language) we will model just a single word and point at the pictures while doing all of the commenting. We can have them point to a picture if we ask a simple 'wh' question (e.g. who says moo?), however, I would suggest not asking any questions and instead focusing on modeling language to help your child get interested in books and keep them engaged. We have a great video called the ladder approach that would be perfect to watch for this topic to explain it a bit more! If you have more questions or need more support please reach out to us at mebefamily.com
