Saint Etienne - Snow

Song from the fanclub-only "Christmas 2003" CD. Written by the great Randy Newman and originally performed by Claudine Longet, I believe.
Beautiful voice I Favorites is make you my baby❤
Brilliant! Compare to the first version by Saturday's Children on Dunwich.
❤️
Any info on this band?
Birdie are a band made up of Dolly Mixture member and Saint Etienne backup singer Debsey Wykes and future husband Paul Kelly who also designed all their album art. They released two LPs, Some Dusty and Triple Echo.
@@timlom5522 dolly mixture!! Whattt had no idea. So cool, thank you
I like Saint Etienne, but I'm sorry to say this version is very undercooked and doesn't do the original song any justice. 😞
I'm with you. It's so clean the fuzzy warmth of teenage fanclub, nah this cover is interesting but I'll never listen to it again.
MY BAND FOR LIFE.
Such a good version. But then, they all are, Afghan whigs, red kross, j. Mascis. I'm sure I'm forgetting other class versions too
Didn't know Afghan Whigs did it. Redd Kross cover is amazing
After all the years following Northern Soul and only just found this little gem ❤️
how could i forget about this song. i really needed this 😭💔
somebody please upload the lyrics you know where to go where you go, I will follow I have to (think?) for tomorrow I know where to go in this room I sit here there's no use in wishing i just want you to say that I'll be back again you know where to go (and if you turn too prouder???) and if you turn up louder I know where to go (but i don't have my wings???) (???) I just want to say I'll be back again (1st verse)
Bloody hell this is a series version, only fanclub peel session is better i think , sorry Afghan whigs, red kross etc
this song is amazing lol
bah
Great Fannies cover
I love this band so much 💕
Anyone know where this first appeared? Other than the reissue of So Tough?
Unreleased I think?
Supreme version.
Some sweet drumming in this.
Saint Etienne nailed this song of Teenage Fan Club 😍
Improved upon it, even. Love the didgeridoo - nice touch, along with Sarah's smooth vocals, and the way the song almost veers out of control towards the end. Classic.
Shoutouts to all your future exs in this bitch tonight in this bitch tonight

Duffy Power (born Raymond Leslie Howard, 9 September 1941, Fulham, South West London) is an English blues and rock and roll singer, who achieved some success in the 1960's.
Claudia Longet has the better version
Well it wasn't like a real love in a show With Deborah Carr or anything Still I don't know... How something flowing smooth as store-bought silk Could just dry up or run as thin as winter milk Could just dry up or run as thin as winter milk...
Well it didn't seem too much unless you got How underneath it flowed along so full and hot Like a June creek when all the snow is melt That no one's dreams would run as thin as winter milk... We didn't go out often Or even fool around too much The skinny (skiddy?) milk cow never kicked About his finger's touch His cheek red from her flank As he looked up to smile hello He never sang but kept time to the radio.
Things are usually harder Than they seem to need to be You learn that up on these stump ranches By your mama's knee As she stooped over swearing At the cow to please hold still And gray into the pail steamed winter milk... And a lot of different men pass thru for picking or haying And most are famous sir For going to beer parlors than saving And it's only the rare one Who isn't mainly on the make And him, he took a job, at Williams Lake.
Loved the original and love this, quality
Is there a non acustic version of this song?
Not available at FairShare as far as I can see (I like that site though!). Maybe iTunes will have it someday.
Thank you!! I will. :)
It is available on Saint Etienne's excellent Christmas CD titled "A Glimpse of Stocking" which I believe is available on iTunes UK. If you're outside the UK, try fairsharemusic
I'm in love with the Claudine Longet version, but I love this too. Where can I buy this song?
Nice one. Penny Valentine brought me here.
You are correct, "Snow" it was on the "B SIDE" of "I Don't Intend to Spend Christmas Without You" in '67 :) It was later released on the following LPs: "Love Is Blue", on the compilation "Something Festive!" & on the compilation "Merry Christmas From Herb Alpert And His Friends" all three in '68!!.
Wonderful tune! It's a shame Paul & Debsey didn't include this (and the rest of the "Some Dusty"-era b-sides) in the "Reverb Deluxe" comp.
Good point! It's a mystery why all the remaining vinyl b-sides weren't all mopped up and collected together on that compilation as there was plenty of space to fit them all in!
1969. You're welcome!
she's gorgeous in that black and white photo...
