This is a video of the old American Viscose Company Plant that was manufacturing rayon from 1917-1958. The plant had about 5,500 workers in 1928, which was the peak of this factory's life, and was the number one of producer of rayon in the world. Now it is an industrial park to many businesses. Just walking around this place gives you a sense on the immense size of the area. Looking around at the buildings and the way they were built is like stepping back into time. If you look on the internet on some old photos of this plant, you can see how great this place was. Next to the amount of people in Roanoke, this was the #2 work place. Norfolk and Western was #1.
