Beautiful Slovakia / Krasne Slovensko - Liptovská Teplička 2
A lovely, traditional village in the Low Tatra mountains with the High Tatras in the background. This village is special: it reminds us how we should all be living in harmony with nature and with traditional means. The spectacular scenery surrounds it wherever you look. It also has unusual storage vaults (or "hobbit holes") where goods such as potatoes are stored all year round. These are typically 3 metres deep but have tiny doors at the surface. The people regularly and eagerly go to church and the priest is a regular visitor to many homes in the parish.

A friend of mine asked me to view his house in Slovakia and make a short drone video. I hope I have captured the raw beauty of the scenery on this very cold day. The two small towns of Mlinky and Dedinky are in the Slovensky Raj country park area. I'm sure I shall be going back there in summer to explore more of their unique beauty.

An endurance flight to see how far the Mavic would travel whilst remaining in contact with the controller, the AR smartglasses, within line of sight and on a single battery. I returned to Štrbské Pleso during summer this time and filmed this lovely tarn and surrounding areas in the High Tatras. Last time I filmed here the lake was frozen solid and everything was covered in a thick layer of snow, mind you it was -20 degrees C. Typically the lake is frozen for around 155 days a year. At 0:38 bottom left was a hairdressers, ( Top of Hermatige lane) I was in there waiting for my mother having her hair done when it came over the radio that Elvis had died.
The women I truly loved and thought would end up as my wife, worked at that hairdresser. Philippa. Oh well that's the way things go. In old age I still think of a lost love even when married for many decades.

It 's 43 years since I was last here at 12 years old ' I attended the Peredur Home School ' roughly about a mile south of the town center as I recall from 77-79 ' looks relativley unchanged ' although a cafe I used to like ' stop on route with my parents is gone ' probably a long time gone at that ' new development round the station too ' with the supermarket eg ' the town approach looks very different ' but the central bit is less changed.

When doing some looking into architecture. The old bank cafe and bistro came up. After looking more at the area around. I suddenly have the urge to go there. Problem, I live in Oregon in the US. And um, ya 2020 happened.

Around Coombe Hill? Yes. Just avoid the nearby hill, that's out of bounds.
So I can in theory fly around where you flew?

Thank you. I didn't have any problem, but one should always be careful near any structures, people etc, and follow CAA rules. The drone is not as near as it seems and was altered post-production.

How did the batteries hold up on your mavic in the cold weather? Taking my macic 2 there in two weeks. Oh and nice footage too, you've done well.
