It was just a suggestion since there are cis women in ballroom and I always hear complaints from the people walking about being judged by someone who they think is "less real". Its a messy category but if you choose to walk than that's what they are setting themselves up for, being judged. Does it matter who does the judging in an already problematic category?

Solution: get rid of realness entirely. Even without cis women and men on panels, the existence of the realness categories shows that they still have penthouses in ballroom’s head (if it were a single person).

I would say instead of pretty privilege, it’s desirability. Desirability means that, based on Eurocentric beauty standards, you are considered desirable. Doesn’t mean you’re pretty or will win a pageant. Instead, it means that you are or are not worthy of access to societal advantages (jobs, relationships, people believing what you say w/o pushback or skepticism, etc.). There are plenty of people who are desirable due to their proximity to the white Eurocentric aesthetic, who aren’t considered extraordinarily beautiful when compared to others in their same tier. They don’t have to be, though, because desirability takes precedent over what actual people would consider beautiful or attractive. Exhibit A: The list of People’s Magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Year for the past 30-40 years. I rest my case.
