    Good choices except maybe the butterfly fish. They jump, and when they jump, they glide a long way. You will need a lid if you are going to keep them, and that rather defeats the purpose of having them in the first place. Otherwise, these are excellent choices. Excellent job overall. I'll have another, thank you.

    My hardest part to maintain the population is when the fish breed like crazy ( guppies , endlers , CPD , betta ) lol ... especially if the tank has a lot of hiding places for the fry ... like your endlers' tank is great with a lot of hiding places ... i only notice my guppies some weeks later when they become juveniles and am like, " euuh, did I have that much before ... I can't recall... " and then I would start to count one by one , but have so restart again on the 6th one as they are moving in all directions , then I would just give up on the 3rd attempt to check the population quantity ...

    Hi! I will really really appreciate if you answer this question: can Hillstream loaches be kept without a heater? In winters where I live, the tank gets down to 9 degrees celcius.

    • @AussieFishKeeping.
      @AussieFishKeeping. 4 дні тому

      I’m not too sure if they would tolerate that, They can definitely go down to around 14-18 Celsius but I’m not too sure how they would go in anything lower. I’d say you could probably try it out but have a spare heater just in case they don’t do so well. Hope this helps ☺️

    I've got a new oase 300highline tank. Got 1 bristlenose, couple oto's, 3 nerite (more comming in this week) and like 30 cherry shrimps. When bio film was forming i added them 3 days later, next day all the film was gone. The oto's, snails and shrimps went nuts on it. Hoping for 1 more week running like this before i can add my other fish. Congo tetra's, electric blue rams, 1 more bristlenose, 8 panda corrys. I will add angelfish to it later on when everything has settled.😊 Im just looking for an other schooling fish i just dont know what spieces yet. Dont want the common neons, ruby nose. Bit off topic but, Do you have any suggestions?😂

    For me it’s 6 or more otocinclus, 6 or more corydoras Habrosus, 2 or more Amano shrimp, Nerite/bladder snails. This is the ideal clean up crew for me. Definitely need a decently sized tank to keep all of them healthy and happy. Therefore, at least a 20 gallons long with medium planted tank so that you can add in a few other fishes that you want.

    Other than green water, I think you are the first fish keeper to ever speak nicely of any type of algae! '😁😁 With the hydrogen peroxide wash, is there a certain grade/strength you should use or do you need to dilute with water (and what proportons)?

    • @AussieFishKeeping.

    A quick way to saturate with O2 is to use hydrogen peroxide. 1mL of 3% H2O2 per gallon is sufficient to increase DO and is safe for fish.

    • @lawrencelikaiso
      @lawrencelikaiso 18 днів тому

      @@fanyoktavia1703 That isn't entirely correct. It will kill some but not all. H2O2 is beneficial to establishing beneficial bacteria/archaea, the obligate aerobic microbes that are necessary for a healthy aquarium. This is more beneficial when setting up a new aquarium when microbes use up a lot of O2. Also, some microbes produce H2O2 to outcompete others to establish colonies.

    Do you have any tips for melting plants? I had a jungle of anacharis growing well in the front of my tank , and when I moved them to the back of my tank (cuz they were blocking my view), they melted and I don't know why. I've got 2 scrawny half stems left.

    • @BB-sg1hg
      @BB-sg1hg 26 днів тому

      Plants will melt back from the shock of the relocation. They’ll be back again after roots establish

    • @AussieFishKeeping.
      @AussieFishKeeping. 26 днів тому

      Yeah, I would also say it has something to do with the shock of them being moved but once the roots settle in they should thrive again. Just make sure your water is at optimal parameters while the roots are reestablishing. ☺️

      @AussieFishKeeping. 26 днів тому

      I find algae to be super beneficial in my aquariums, especially if it’s controlled correctly. I made a video recently on some of the benefits that come with keeping algae in your aquarium. ☺️

    • @i_nvade8098
      @i_nvade8098 26 днів тому

      @AussieFishKeeping. presence of algae means that you don't have enough plants in your tank also either using too much light or not making water changes are the other reasons which causes algae. I been doing this for few years and i can tell by looking at your tanks. You have a few plants. I would expand especially when making a video on how to grow plants. Not trying to be mean but you can definitely see you need more plants. Keep up great work 👍
