🌷 🌱 🍄 🌿 🍅 🍃 I planted a 'Pimenta Bela Purple' hot pepper, which I picked up at Soergel's Garden Center. It's rated at one million Scovilles, which is hot. I also gave a plant to my friend Dave Taiclet (Hot Pepper Dave). His did not do as well as mine as the deer were after it. So I brought over a bag of the pepper and he had to try one. “Gardening is fun,” Doug says, “you can truly enjoy every ...

My Father in law gave me seeds for these and I have not planted them, but I am definitely planting them this year. I noticed the seed heads are very spikey, but gosh they are so pretty!
Good luck with them!

Do you plant new bulbs every year?
Yes, it's adding to the landscape every season. The bulbs that are already there return every year too.
Tiene una colección hermosa saludos desde Cusco Perú
Thanks for watching from Peru!
❤❤❤❤❤❤super Good program ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
I purchased and auger after seeing you use it. Makes it so easy and as you said worth it in the spring time. Thanks for all your great advice!
I'm glad it worked out for you. I couldn't imagine planting bulbs without my auger. I was out there today planting more snowdrops, tulips and lilies. Can't wait to see them blooming. Thanks so much for watching.
Great video, can't wait to see them bloom in the spring
@@danseitz4341 Me either!
Would you please share where you get yours?
Swan Island, Broad River Blooms, Breck's and Old House Dahlias are some of the catalogs.
Wow! We love dahlias but they require so much work for us to dig up and store here in Zone 5. We have tried a few times but we just don’t have enough space or the right conditions indoors to keep them throughout the winter. Wish we could do this though because they are very beautiful.
Maybe try a few next year in those fabric pots. There's nothing wrong though in growing dahlias just for the season and letting them freeze at the end of the year. You can still enjoy the beauty of the flower.
Oh my goodness look how beautiful, absolutely stunning.
It's a wonderful garden for sure!
Several times I've stored dahlias over in pots, my winters are very long that they're stored for five months. I maintain them just a few degrees above freezing to about 50 F and water them sparingly just enough to prevent the soil from becoming bone dry.
Is it the same pots they grow in during the season? Just wondering, everyone does the job a little differently. Thanks for watching!
@@InDougsGarden I've mostly grown compact dahlias in pots to set upon my back deck, these pots are placed in my cold storage room for the winter along with the potatoes and root veggies. Frost has now arrived here and today shall dig the dahlias, always am a bit nervous lifting each and every one in the hopes it has not acquired leafy gall, cause yes, it's a disease that already exists in the soil and any such diseased tubers need to be discarded. I guess, it also can be easily transmitted through tools, so extra caution should be taken even when using pruners or a spade from one plant to another. I don't have a large number of varieties and prefer to stick to shorter growers to avoid the need for staking, I've gone through my years of staking tons of plants and now prefer a bit less maintenance because there's just so much to do on this large acreage!
@@TRguy64 That's a great way to do the job.
What a lovely collection. Just love how the community are also lucky to have this beautiful display for all to see. Thank you for sharing
It's a wonderful garden! Thanks for watching.
This was totally amazing! Thanks so much for bringing this garden to our attention!
I'm glad you got to see the garden!
Thank you for the video and your time. I have a question about the size of the bags. I am going to plant my first Dahlias in 2025 and I am looking for all the information and you do not have a garden. You have a paradise, simply beautiful.
I would recommend 15 gallon fabric pots. I like Root Pouch which are made from recycled water bottles. They are inexpensive and built to last. Here's a link- bit.ly/489DlJi
Beautiful flowers 🌹 like
Thanks for watching.
Wow, wish I lived closer
You might have to make a road trip, I've got a few other places for you to see if you come.
How many bites does it take to get to the end of a Pimenta Bela Purple? The world may never know!
And this guy is a hot pepper king!
My lips went numb just watching that.
@@markmlynarski1386 Ha ha! I know what you mean!
Too hot for me!
I'm eating little pieces, but that's all I can handle.
Yikes!!!!
Yep!
Thank you for doing this feature on Project Love Coalition and our veteran initiative! We want to attract more people to our space and hopefully make some new friends and be a help to others!
What about over 20 years. Can you get sick
No, the seeds will be fine. I've got seeds that are over 30 years old and don't worry at all about planting them.
Great job, Doug. Thank you for sharing!
I want to interview you on the radio show when the book is re-released.
Thanks for sharing this video on your Facebook page. 👍
Thanks for watching, I love hummingbirds.
WOW!!!!! Mexican sunflower 16ft. Im jealous.
I can't even tell you why it grew that tall. Not a great bed and pretty shady too.
Another great season!
Thanks Dan, appreciate you watching.

Truly a beautiful few minutes with nature's little wonder..... Nice of you to go from Slow Mo to Normal speed. Give us a good perspective of the Hummingbirds incredible hovering feats. Wonderful video.....
That was fun to make, thanks for watching. I love seeing hummingbirds.
Is the water treated with limestone?
That's right, the water passes through limestone to get the pH to neutral.
Wish i could have gone...
Maybe next time, we're having a lot of fun!
