Classic episode! Used to have a rabbit show up in my parents yard around dinner time every night of the week so we nicknamed him “5 O’clock Charlie”

Ah season 2. Still has the wacky zaniness of S1 but has that slight extra touch of heart.

the show died when Henry left.

This is a sad episode on the 2nd watch through, since Henry never makes it home to see his son & the kid grows up without a father. I am glad he held a child & was able to have some joy for a short while.

The empty tent & the announcements reminded me of; in Kuwait at the wash rack, I learned that the army "saves" shipping costs by considering equipment as FIELD LOSSES & throwing things away, that weren't mission critical or sensitive items, instead of cleaning it & bringing it back to the states. This episode (& show) had lots of "field losses", but they don't use it in the episode where the kitchen loses eating trays & Klinger & Hawkeye have to trick Margrett. Father says in that episode "It will all even out in the end" that is mostly true... we were never thieves, we were just getting our stuff back from the people who borrowed it without asking. LOL Supply is a love hate relationship, mostly hate when getting out... You signed for it, they want it back or pay... in the states it is very hard to get a "field loss" wavier & equipment is not cheap. $300+ for a cracked ACH helmet & $60 for NBC wet weather gear, even though it got ripped by a power washer stream in country. BIG GREEN WEENIE

Hawkeye mentions his mother and sister at the end of the letter but later in the series he says he's an only child and his father is a widower.

Sherman "living in a fool's paranoid", after trying to r-word Margaret has not aged well at all. The fact the same actor, playing a different doctor with the same oversexed tendencies, gets to have his way with presumably another nurse later in the show's run is just tone deaf.

the fact that the broadcasters cut and sliced many of the episodes to ribbons is just sad.

MASHCAST is also a great show! It's interesting that in the closing scenes with the credits, we see the camp's MASH "movie" in color, whereas, in the episode itself, the scenes are in black and white as befitting the show's 1950's setting.

Sorrel Booke was a real Korean War vet.
