Terrible show nobody asked for, with characters no one knew or cared about, with little done to make them likeable or relatable. Terrible writing, stupid plot. If it wasnt for the "diversity" the few people defending it wouldnt defend it. If they were all straight white males, the few people defending it would destroy the show as bad as everyone else is. Just watched Monkey man a couple weeks ago, with a whole subplot about trans people, and then the indian trans women showed up in dresses and kicked a bunch of peoples asses. Nobody complained. Everyone liked it. Race or sexuality dont matter. Just write a good story with good characters. If your only excuse to get me to like or relate a character is because of the color of their skin or who they fuck, its not gonna cut it.

Hey! Not really a star wars fan or anything, but I watched the 4 episodes so far. I did NOT like it. I had high expectations because it was star wars. Here are my complaints: * The Jedis are completely incompetent. * Too much 'you go girl!' atmosphere with those witches. Pretty much all of Episode 3 felt cringey. Felt like they where just shoe-horned in there. * The Jedis are completely incompetent. * The chant. I had to press pause and leave the room. Then come back and mute the sound for 30seconds. * The Jedis are completely incompetent. * The Jedis are completely incompetent. * The Jedis are completely incompetent. Oh, and Edit: The green bossy girl I hated was OF COURSE dating the creator or whatever. My god... This series broke my high regard for the Jedis in half.

I will make it simple for you. There is a lovely hamburger place and every week you go there and eat a hamburger. It is GOOD. Then someone else takes over and slowly but surely the food changes. You are not to happy about it but. One day you eat one of those burgers, weird taste. So you ask "Did you change the burgers." And you are told. "Those are tofu burgers. We are going vegan here." Would you be happy? Would you return? The old fans know how a burger tastes, even if the burger might be slightly undercooked or overcooked. It is still a burger. But under Disney Starwars have changed a lot...

The writing in Star Wars has always been bad. We have made fun of the bad lines for almost 50 years now.

Actually, most of the derogatory comments i've seen online have been targeting people who DISLIKE the show, not those who like it. The fanbase is being attacked by the creators, critics and actors for NOT liking this subpar show and they're being labeled as racist or bigots for even HINTING at any criticism towards a diverse character. We can't have reasonable discussions about Star Wars if everyone is spending all their time labeling one another with such vitriol I think you're wayyyy off here, man.

Thank you. Since I clicked on this or that Acolyte-related video, my YT feed has become a cesspool of hatred. I don't think the show is great, not by a longshot, but also, I think this outrage is being fueled by bigots and grifters who are only about getting more engagement. The other not-so-good shows (IMHO) in Star Wars were criticized, yes; but not to this length at all. So I'll subscribe, let's build havens of non-toxicity around this thing we love.

dude you are 100% right, but it's a hopeless cause. Nerd outrage is now a megaindustry. People like nerdrotic stoke rage in order to profit off of it. It's not longer, "well this probably isn't for me." instead it's "this is a personal attack on me!" we are talking about a series that survived the prequels, it's going to survive The Acolyte. But there's just no reasoning with these people. They watch videos specifically for the nitpicks like fire in space, "omg they used warp drive as a weapon!" "how did bombs drop in space!!" they get some kind of serotonin boost hearing a thing they dislike get trashed, it's really that simple.

Actual criticisms. The main character's acting is terrible, in both roles. They're twins raised very differently, they should not be remotely the same in temperament. A good example would be J K Simmons in counterpart, he plays same person from a diverged timeline. He does an amazing job playing two completely different characters that are the same person. Also the writing is terrible, fire in space and fire burning down a stone temple. A Jedi master that ends himself because a little girl burns down a stone temple and he feels responsible? Carrie-Ann Moss dies from a small knife, when in a prior Star Wars show, Kenobi, one character survives being stabbed with a light saber as a youngling and then as an adult. The show is garbage. The only bright the actor playing Jedi Sol, Lee Jung-jae. He is believable, his acting is great and i just found out he learned English in three months for the role... amazing dedication. There actual criticism, please how you disagree with those point.

Most fans don't care about demographics groups. They care that the show is strictly used as a medium for a political intent. EVERYTHING from showrunner, writers, actors, directors, etc. is a failure because Disney is sacrificing meritocracy for their politics.

I think you make a good point, but when we have art that is also supposed to be entertainment and be profitable, ppl feel like their feedback is relevant bc the fate of the franchise is at stake. For example: the Halo franchise, whom fans had been very critical, but then the fans' feedback went unheard, and so the franchise is on it's last leg, and that obviously riles up the fans who knew it could've been averted by simply hearing out their criticisms and acting on them. To fans, SW keeps doubling down on what they're critical of, similar to Halo and its downfall. So that very much gets under the skin of fans who'd like the franchise to be more entertaining, thus more profitable, thus better for everyone involved: fans and producers. Consumers are going to boycott when they've had enough, and the nasty rhetoric is the indication that it can happen. Pretty typical consumer vs corporation activity. For example: I've slep on all these SW shows bc of my disapointment with the last trilogy. I didn't go after anyone, but clearly the damage was done, as similarly when a die-hard Halo fan skips the new game: what does that mean for the franchise? - Nothing good. When you lose some of the biggest fans: you are obviously doing something wrong. For example: no one i know of claimed Samuel L's Mace Windu character was a DEI hire, but that's bc he's one of the best actors of all time. I'm sure no one would be critical if they had casted Lawrence Fishburn or Rosario Dawson, but they're casting ppl nobody knows. So although that criticism is likely misplaced, there is something happening that is sparking criticism, it's just the critics fail to be articulate. That said art is art, and most ppl find a lot of art unappealing, like contemporary art, or historical art. The nature of art is that it's subjective. But in creating art, not for the sake of art, but for profit, then the audience needs to be catered to, at least somewhat. It's a miscalculation to try to change the formula for the most profitable franchise in history.

There is nothing wrong with that answer. Its honest and makes since. You acknowledge the extreme quality and artistic value of Andor (my pref), but you prefer watching Ahsoka for bringing your favorite characters and fantastical elements to live action.

When I watched 'Infested' I kept thinking they were making an effort to paint Isa Durand as very powerful and dangerous, so I figured she was set up for a later appearance somewhere. Took longer than I expected but it's great that we got to see her now. And that Roland got his horn back. :)
