This video introduces students to elementary aspects of meter and rhyme. There is a typo at 11:27. Minor, yes, but hideous. The term "caesurae," the plural of caesura, is misspelled here as "caesarae." The term caesura does derive from the latin verb "to cut," but it has nothing to do with the cutting down of the Roman dictator.

Hi! I loved your channel! Could you put in the descriptions the books you mentioned, especially the theoretical ones? I'm waiting for the next videos!!
Same
It would be useful to have the Essay Format Checklist available for the student to print too.
This was enjoyable to listen to! You're very knowledgeable and your examples were amazing :)
Thank you for watching!
Thankyou
You're welcome. Thank you for watching.
This was very interesting to steam my clothes too! Admittedly i had no idea what explicating was but it sounds really interesting! I want to read more poetry so i can understand people better!
Thank you for watching! These videos are to help my students. When it's time to fold the laundry, watch part 2! You're right about reading poetry to "understand people better." Reading poetry requires patience and concentration; it helps you to recognize and understand the complexity of language, which will make you a more astute reader and listener generally.
@@erikmccarthy935 nice!
Bring back Alexander Pope...I used to think his poetry was difficult to understand!
This is for a freshman-level class--probably not the best place for Pope :). Thanks for watching!
@@erikmccarthy935 My point was that The Man-Moth was in my mind as difficult to comprehend as Pope's poetry.
very helpful thanks!
Thank you for watching!
a brilliantly made video!
