POOL GAMES: CUT-THROAT (Three Player Game)
If you like multi-player games then this one is for you! It is simple to play, the rules are not set in stone, can be modified to fit your ability level and most of all it is fun trying to knock out your friends in this three-player pool game.
Growing up, there was always a group of people wanting to shoot on a limited number of tables and the only way to stay on the table was to not lose. Sometimes we would get three players on the table to move it along quicker for cut-throat and the only person that would rotate out to bring in a new player would be the first out, unless scratching the white to bring back in players' balls.
Game 1: Introduction to Cut-throat 00:00
Game 2: Break 04:04
Game 3: Break 08:12
Cut-Throat Rules: 10:56

How often do you find yourself in a situation where you want to take the shot but you know if you miss that your opponent will probably win the game and match? I have come up with a few examples to help you find your way back to the table and be hopeful that your next shot is a reasonable one. Let me know in the comment if you have any questions. Thank you! I just noticed a misspelled word in the video (Spherical) and I can only laugh at myself because I am supposed to be a little more on top of my editing, especially as an educator. I guess this was a moment to humble me and be as a reminder for me to slow down to make sure I am being precise for your learning and understanding. Sorry for any misunderstandings and I hope we can correct this spelling if misused anywhere else in translation. Thanks for your understanding!

    Do you shoot your long shots with a closed bridge?

    • @JRODS_PSTKICKS
      @JRODS_PSTKICKS Місяць тому

      I tend to use an open bridge on all my shots unless it is with a lot of top or bottom English. I've noticed that my stroke goes off a few millimeters when I use an open bridge and shoot a little harder. The closed bridge definitely tightens up my line on all my shots and is something I will be using more reliably. Thanks for the question. It is good for me to reflect as well.

    Those are GIANT side poclets and the rails are curved to accept any shot that is sent in its direction. lol what kind of table is this?

    • @JRODS_PSTKICKS
      @JRODS_PSTKICKS 2 місяці тому

      The rails are snookered and it is more misleading than you would think. The side pockets are a little on the big side but you can't roll off them to fall in the side pocket like cut corners, mine tend to bounce out from any cushion interference. Also, you can see how small the corner pockets are to the balls I use. The pockets measure at 3 inches in the throat of the pocket. Not one pro event in America or the world plays on a table like this. The Chinese Invitational is the only event that you will see a 9 foot table played with similar pockets. SVB struggles in that event as he would on this table too. So, please re-evaluate the table and go hit some balls on a snooker table with 2 1/4 in. balls and let me know how you do. It may be a humbling experience! Thanks for the comment as I look forward to many more. Here is a quick close up for you, mate! ua-cam.com/users/shortsez83GL7K34o?si=3NzoV8DpWtuKF7o7

    Backhand outside english cancelled the deflection or the cit.

    • @JRODS_PSTKICKS
      @JRODS_PSTKICKS 2 місяці тому

      Sometimes the cueball will roll back into line after it has been shot and then deflects. It takes a little practice to get a feel when using extreme English and cutting the ball. I would begin with close cut shots (2-3 feet/1meter) and making 5-10 in a row. Move the cueball back 6 inches but keep the same "cut angle." You will start to see the cueball make its line adjustment from the deflection the further away you get from the target ball. Please let me know if this makes sense. I can make a quick short to show if any other questions.

    Do you have any videos where you show you aiming a shot using English. I'm trying to understand if I do not use any English how do I apply and compensate for spin induced throw? Do I line up to make the shot and then apply it? do I have to think of which direction the spin will impart and recompensate once I've already aimed? I understand the type of shaft has an effect on this but just generally speaking

      Hey, Shane! Long time no see. Thanks for subscribing. I bought this table in 2006 and wanted a good practice table with the tightest pockets without shimming them. So, I purchased snookered rails to make the aiming more precise. Can be very challenging and most rail shots are rattles, but I know they go in the pocket out in the real-world during competition :)

  • @jimo3173

    Good video but I firmly believe the jump shot has all but ruined pool. It should never be legal to deliberately make the cue ball leave the surface of the table. If you're hooked, you should have to kick your way out and not be able to just launch the cue ball over everything to do it. I have a rule on my table that no jumping is allowed ever and if I catch someone doing a jump shot, they are immediately off the table and permanently banned from ever playing on my table again. But of course, that's just me.

    • @LIGHT-ENDE-SIGN-mq1vi
      @LIGHT-ENDE-SIGN-mq1vi 3 місяці тому

      Thank you! I agree and it would be a better game if we were only allowed to kick at our hooked shots, because it would show who is at the top of their game at that time. When I was five or six, I grew up using rails and the rubber knobs on the bumper pool table and never thought of jumping the cueball or scooping until I saw someone do it, which is what I began to do for a few years until I was corrected. As for now, I will use anything legal and allowed because I am getting old and need a few crutches in the game sometimes when I get out of line. :)

    • @jimo3173
      @jimo3173 3 місяці тому

      @@LIGHT-ENDE-SIGN-mq1vi Well, unfortunately jumping is part of the game now so I get that if you play out you need to do it sometimes as your opponent sure will. I love seeing a rare occasional tournament where no jumping is allowed or at least no jump cues allowed but they are rare these days.

      Yes, the tip affects the backspin. I tend to use a hard tip for my tournament cue. The stick I use for any masse or extreme English I like to use a Super Soft tip which seems to grab better and give more spin to the cueball.

      Thank you. Very subtle approaches can help in the game. Hope I can help with some more shots in the future.
