    I cannot believe this works, it is so simple and makes sense. I was having trouble bleeding rear brakes after rerouting hose and was looking at tilting bike , handlebars - many times and hoping I followed instructions. This worked first time! I went through the syringe motion a few times as bubbles kept appearing. Thanks for the simple solution. GRX600

    Always find it a bit odd that a lot of bike calipers have the bleed nipple at the bottom of the caliper rather than top like cars do. I would think air could remain trapped maybe?

    • @TheCycleRenovator
      @TheCycleRenovator 3 місяці тому

      Air will always find its way to the highest point which would be the reservoir in the hood, this is why pushing the fluid that way makes sense as I takes the air with it.

    Fake colnago frameset 😂4:40 you can see the tell tale sign, no triangle cutout above rear brake caliper. Also, you can see the “lugs” are actually carbon fiber monocoque one piece design

    • @TheCycleRenovator
      @TheCycleRenovator 5 місяців тому

      You are so incorrect, the frame came directly from colnago, the 52s art decor didn’t have a cut out above the rear brake mount.

    • @TheCycleRenovator
      @TheCycleRenovator 7 місяців тому

      The Bottom bracket depends on the groupset you are installing and the frame interface, this frame and groupset required a threaded hollow tech bottom bracket and I used an BB-R60

    Very clear instructions, great shop setup, but I am so confused. I'm used to working on e-bikes, Tektro brakes are very responsive. I'm here because a brand new Bulls Desert Falcon I am assembling for a customer has a leak right at the caliper. Fixed that issue easy, but the bleeding is just not working out. However, in this video it seems the finished result is the same as I am getting, soft brakes. Is this by design, do gravel bikes just have soft brakes on purpose for some reason? I am hoping some actual bike tech (not just e bikes) knows what's up.

      The 810 shifter has servo wave technology, initial pad travel is fast, so little lever movement is needed to bring the pads into contact with the rotor. The power multiplication factor then increases rapidly at the pad to disc contact so more of the lever stroke is used to apply greater braking power with improved control which is why the lever travels further. It’s best to ride it and see how they feel.

    5:20 What? You're barely done! You're not even pulling hard and the lever goes almost all the way to the bars.

    • @TheCycleRenovator
      @TheCycleRenovator 9 місяців тому

      The squeeze at 5.20 moves the pads to the disc as the pistons have been fully retracted in the caliper , I can assure you all air was out the line and the brake works perfect.

    • @poxcr
      @poxcr 9 місяців тому

      @@TheCycleRenovatorDefinitely not, at 3:37 you can see the lever going all the way back to the bar even with a bleed block installed, after which you did not bleed any more air out. The levers were never tilted to the angles necessary for air to be properly bled out. The lever should've been pretty stiff at the point of putting the brake pads and wheel back on had the correct process been followed. Like so many others on UA-cam, stop insisting on finding the "best" bleeding technique, and stick to the documentation published by the manufacturer. It is very straightforward and works flawlessly every single time. One more thing to consider, BR-MT520 calipers are not supposed to be compatible with ST-RX810 levers, that can perfectly be the reason for the long lever pull. But what gives, if it "works" for you, do as you please. In the end it's your bike and your teeth... 🤷‍♂

    • @TheCycleRenovator
      @TheCycleRenovator 9 місяців тому

      @@poxcr The squeeze at 3.37 adds positive pressure to the line after them being open, there is no special angle the line needs to be at as long as the reservoir is higher than the caliper, the manufacturers instructions are one way of doing it however it isn’t the only way. Read the other comments, the process works and is easier. As for compatibility Shimano’s compatibility chart for GRX does not list cross discipline compatibility. There are no MTB calipers listed on the chart at all. Most post mount frames have a road shifter with an MTB caliper as shimano don’t make post mount road calipers. There is nowhere that states they aren’t compatible and I can assure you they are having covered 1000’s of miles with this setup.

    • @poxcr
      @poxcr 9 місяців тому

      @@TheCycleRenovator It is more than evident that the bleeding and/or lever-caliper combo is not correct. Whatever, have it your way, it’s clear that you know better and pointing it out is futile.
