Being the more advanced tailor in the house has it’s perks.
Since moving to Abuja, there’s one thing I always come back with anytime I travel home for holidays and it’s a piece of my mum’s wardrobe for upcycling.
My mum loves to shop, and one of her favorite things to buy are oversized thrift clothes with the hope of adjusting them.
She mostly never does and even when she does, she usually would get tired of the outfit in no time.
She also loves to buy fabric and her go to outfit to make for herself is bubu. (Oh yeah, my mum learned to sew way before I even knew I wanted to. She actually was my buba teacher)
For today’s video, I Upcycled one of her bubu that I got from my last visit home. It’s a knit fabric and I found the texture quite interesting. I didn’t use any of the Ankara on the sleeves cause I just didn’t want to but I think the outfit turned out really well.
