I hope my analytical and biographical analysis of literature will help you find and appreciate great books, and save you reading time. I always reply to comments, I welcome discussion and respectful disagreement, as broadening our perspectives will help us become better readers.
Come find me on GoodReads, Twitter and Instagram (best place is GoodReads). I've been a dedicated reviewer on GoodReads for years, feel free to add and message me there.
I'll post random videos and gaming videos every now and again, but I assure you I am a serious reader and have big ideas for video series I'd like to do once I eventually have a subscriber base. Hopefully I'll get the following to guide me through how to make them the best they can be.

This is a spoiler-free review of The Burnt City by Punchdrunk, I saw the Previews on 28th March 2022. Seeing a Punchdrunk show like The Burnt City for the first time
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
This video is a "strategy guide" on how to have a good experience seeing a Punchdrunk show like The Burnt City or Sleep No More, based on my experience of Sleep No More and The Drowned Man. Here is some advice on how to have a better experience when seeing a Punchdrunk show like The Burnt City. Obviously everything is hugely subjective, debatable, and down to chance, but knowing and doing a few...

The Driver's Seat by Muriel Spark | Book Review
Переглядів 9602 роки тому
The Driver's Seat by Muriel Spark is an excellent short story that reads like a psychothriller, horror and literary fiction all at once. In this book review I briefly describe why I think there's more than action to this story, which puts it apart from a conventional story, and as always, avoiding spoilers. Muriel Spark is now in the running for being my new favourite British author, will be bu...

www.goodreads.com/book/show/18465566-this-one-summer It may not be groundbreaking, but This One Summer by Jillian Tamaki & Mariko Tamaki does nothing wrong. The Three Electroknights by Stanisław Lem | #9 Penguin Modern Book Review
Переглядів 2232 роки тому
www.goodreads.com/review/show/4261969847 The Three Electroknights by Stanislaw Lem is a collection of four space-themed fables about why you should not try and usurp the throne! Stanisław Lem is a Polish Scifi writer I've wanted to read for a long time. Somehow, Polish (and occasionally Russian) translations rarely work for me, the English is just too stilted and they feel too cold. It wasn't t...
Food by Gertrude Stein | #8 Penguin Modern BOOK REVIEW
Переглядів 2603 роки тому
Is this the lowest rated book on GoodReads? www.goodreads.com/review/show/4260092352 Food by Gertrude Stein reads like it was written by a bad AI bot, except it's not funny. This book review is a warning to avoid Gertrude Stein's writing unless you know what you are in for! It felt like empty, wayward nonsense to me. That said, her other books seem to be more liked, so Food might just be a bad ...

www.goodreads.com/review/show/4406115929 Ice by Anna Kavan is a very strange story. Bewilderment by Richard Powers is not for everyone | BOOK REVIEW
I love how he totally takes over on the Death island 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why in the name of fuck would Cuno be eeeeerrrt??!😂😂😂😂😂😂
A sequel set a few years later with Harry, Kim, *and* Cuno working together at the 41st would be amazing 😮
3:50 there arent three gods in xtianity. Theres one. Three gods is a slur originating in the koran.
Does this work with really old blu tax ?
man I would do anything to relive this moment damn.
can't believe you only internalized the precarious world for the endgame but in hindsight you probably needed it to make sure Kim gets shot
It's one of the best books 📚
This is exactly how I felt. It was pretty to read, sometimes a little sluggish cuz of judicial jargon but that was to be expected, but the big problem is just that I can't root for K! He's unpleasant, arrogant, and has just general anger issues. He's then put into a situation where he's poked and prodded, and you'd expect him to finally flip, rebel, and since he said he does this for everyone in his situation, become a heroic figure! But no, he just slowly suffers than dies. It's definitely for someone. Just wasn't for me
I am also glad they removed Dasha with some real VO actor. I think they went for her for her politics but she is mostly a reactionary. Then again Klaasje's character doesn't have the best politics, still it is better to just go for the professional worker rather than a media personality.
New one is far better. Previous one is just reading from paper. Klaasje is supposed to be detached but still it doesn't sound right.
"Do it for the working class." "Do it for Revachol." Do it for CUNO.
Great analysis. Good to see the work discussed in serious terms. By the way Drnaso’s drawing style may appear simple and “easy to draw” but there is a video where he shows how incredibly detailed he is in his preparation.
This call did so much for me, I cant even comprehend, how much it did.
The thing Orwell describes as nationalism does exist though, you can not denie that. Wether you call it nationalism or tribalism, it is an inescapable and unavoidable part of human nature for most people and it especialy reers it's ugly head for desperate and insecure people. Orwells opinion is that ultimately all types of nationalism are bad, however in a world in which nationalism is omnipresent and inescapable, some types are preferable to others. In other words: I would much rather my friend not be a nationalist at all but if him becoming one is unavoidable, I'd prefere him become a DnD Dwarf loyalist, elv hater rather then a neo nazi. As for religion being nationalism in disguise, it is the truest thing anyone has ever said and it is so obvious that it is actualy mindblowing. I am a former catholic turned atheist and that essay is actualy the thing that turned me into an atheist. Literally everything you do in church, every song you sing, every prayer you speak is threw and threw about proclaiming the supiriority of god over everything else and the inferiority of the nonbeliver. Tomorrow is sunday. May I suggest you walk into a church in the middle of a session and just simply listen to the prayer. Actualy listen to the words. I guarantee you, you will see exactly what I am talking about.
Theres bad in all of us but only good appears Character transformation does happen at the end???
I didn't notice your webcam and had to restart the video. gotta make that thang bigger fam
This review sounds toxic.
You are exactly what you're accusing CS Lewis of..look in the mirror..sinner
That “book” was actually a Radio Show during WWII that was later transcribed. He has done more for Christian apologetics and philosophy in modern history than just about any other modern author. Many, many non believers have found his works and come to believe.
I agree this guy..needs Jesus n prayer❤
Well... What can one say? You had to BE "there".
“Grit Lit” writers I praise are the following: Harry Crews, Larry Brown, Donald Ray Pollock, Barry Hannah. Carson McCullers, Cormac McCarthy, David Joy, Tom Franklin, Daniel Woodall, Ron Rash, William Faulkner, Flannery, Chris Offutt, Barbara Kingsolver, Raymond Carver (short stories), Dorothy Allison, Rick Bragg, Michael Farris Smith, James Dickey, Brian Panowich, Wiley Cash, Jamie Kornegay, James Anderson, Peter Farris, Frank Bill, Denis Johnson, Taylor Brown, Peter Farris, Philipp Meyer, Dennis Covington, Jordan Harper, Charles Dodd White……
This dude gets it.
Where's kim?
hospital because shot if you let yourself go at the end of the tribunal
I think both voices are good, but the new version has better sound mix than the old one.
Woah you hit this book on the nail. I was so convinced that this book was what the perfume was based off of. Somany similarities
"It didn't give you any fun for that money" feels so, so bitter.
Updike was an amazing writer. Most people in real life aren’t that likeable
Great review. I was about to get the book because i thought it would be worth it.
i never even knew there was an old cuno until i found a video about it ! new cuno's equally silly . and a lot easier to listen to, too, in me opinionne
this scene really took me aback the first time it happened the first moment i’m laughing my ass off at these prank calls and then it all just comes tumbling down when harry is brought to reality and that whatever past he had left with his ex-something is gone and i just started sobbing. It hurts even more that it’s an “interfacing” check so harry was probably triggering some muscle memory to be able to call his original house number and the same goes for the time harry calls the video store
a lot of people are saying which voice they prefer but i just want to say i never even noticed that the voice changed
I wish I was the wind.
Wait, so how do you get this to happen in the game? How do you get Cuno to join you and replace Kim?
If you fail to warn Kim of le paule/simply let it happen,Kim will end up in the hospital.
need fail on authority check at tribunal
Yo bro, leave neuroscience and go to law school! You got this book down to a tee
When I found out our boy had burnt out and was taking two cases a week; And then ran into the love letter and your shadow. It broke me in the best way ❤
Sorted!! Thank you
Calling. Calling. Still calling. DESTRO-
The original voice is annoying, fits so much for this brat. they did him dirty in the final cut
Is that the one from sucksession?
Calling. Calling. Still calling... Calling in the night...
The saddest sound in the world.
Cuno is the reward for chosing an easy death over spending another sec with kim.
what are your thoughts on the homosexual ideas portrayed in this book
what are your thoughts on the homosexual ideas portrayed in this book
Playing this scene with two Morale feels balsy
walruse
Cuno just bringing up Blood Meridian out of nowhere lmfao
I'm in a philosophy class right now and this really helped me to get why Horkheimer was making some of the points he was (specifically I was really confused why he was upset people were moving away from religion, but it makes much more sense considering the context). Thank you!
damn this feels different after you've lost someone
Jean tossing Cuno into the MC is great : )
Harry: Cuno will be joining a junior officers program Jean: No, he's twelve. Cuno: Cuno's fucking nineteen!
