    Spray some EasyStart in the tank then light it with a candle lighter. That's how we re-bead tyres up here in Iceland. They often roll off when running 10PSI on the mountain roads in deep snow. Just a small squirt in a tank that size will pop that dent out no problem.

    • @geimfarinn
      @geimfarinn 3 місяці тому

      Lol, Já take out the fuel and leave it open for a couple of hours. It's only a real danger if it's closed. Leaving the filler open and just a 1 second squirt of EasyStart will be harmless. It will pop, don't get me wrong. But it's not going to rip it to pieces

      Just the box. You need to make sure the speedo drive is the same but otherwise went straight in no modifications other then changing gear knob from a 5 to a 6 speed. This van ended up with an unrelated electrical issue that the owner convinced himself was down to the box so he had me replace it at a later date with another 5 speed. It wasn’t his issue lol ended up a whole new wiring loom was required but as I stated unrelated to the gearbox conversion

    Thanks for video! I have to replace this sensor, have slight leak from that sensor and have to top up coolant every 3-4 weeks (drops from max to min level) I guess o-ring is parished 🤔. As for coolant boiling, first thing check at what tempetature your fan should kick in, then make sure your expansion coolant tank cap is OK (overpressure valve is not letting by air too early), cooling circuit must be sealed. Why? I have fiesta mk7, fan turns on 105C. I had broken expansion tank cap, so coolant started boiling at 100C, because pressure couldn't built up and it was boiling coolant like in your case. Changed cap (bought genuine ford one, for some reason seals better than other brands). Once changed cap, when temperature was aproaching 100C hoses started being hard (pressure was buiding up), at 105C hoses were really hard, but no boiling then fan kicked in. Higher pressure shifts boiling point, so if you have broken cap or for example small split in expansion tank pressure won't built up. Cheers buddy!

    If you can get the plug off you can apply 12v directly to the actuator. One way winds it in, reverse the polarity winds it out. Jump leads connected to a pair of probes usually does the trick. Rough but is often easier than getting out those studs and winding it by hand

      Definitely getting more complicated that's a fact. I did a Golf a few weeks ago and when I tested it after all the ABS and traction control lights came on even though I'd only done the pads. Turned out when I'd plugged the cables back in the pins had bent in the socket. Nightmare that was trying to bend them back by just the right amount without being able to see them properly. It's always the simple jobs that often end up as dramas

    I'd love to turn one of these vans into a camper as they're nice and boxy, the chocolate gearboxs in them put me off them though. I found this online, which you probably already know...Some Vauxhall models ended up with problems at 22k miles, and they needed replacement gears and even full bearing replacements. Older models had such problems at 60k or even 120k miles. Apparently when they start to go, if not sorted with new bearings, they will fail rather soon. Getting a second hand one with a Good gearbox could still be dodgy as they seem to have this underlying issue with weak bearings for the job. Is there a small boxy van you would/could recommend that's better than a Vivaro/Renult Master? something that does not have that PF6 gearbox of course Cotney.

Had a couple of van versions that I made campers inside with tv games consoles massive sound system etc bk when I was a “dubber”…these vivaros aren’t bad vans to be fair and tend to look better in comparison to say a same aged transit. Transit will be a rot box…but they’re good vans in themselves also but for the rot and the fact they get stolen a lot….the owner of this vivaro bought it to replace his transit which had been stolen. And he won’t thank me for saying it but his old transit was a shed lol

Yeah, Fords rust too easily, same for Sprinters. A Good gearbox to begin with on a Vivaro and regular oil changes (with the right oil and amount) and I guess not going hard on the gears or driving around hilly country (15% climbs) too often, especially loaded up; should help one last. Cheers for that…will do thermostat next then…it’s the wife’s car and she’s learning to drive so it has been sat for best part of a week. I was using regular recently as my car needed a clutch so it’s been really reliable , I will leave it another couple days and see if batteries still good…thanks for the heads up

      No just 180nm I believe ….can’t remember where I read it but obviously checked torque specs before I torqued it

      It’s one I’ve been struggling with to be honest too…all seems to test fine electrically but doesn’t work no matter what I tried…I’m thinking of changing the coolant header tank and cap for new because apparently if they don’t seal well system can’t get upto pressure so coolant boils sooner and ecm can’t get right signal to turn fan on…as soon as I figure out the issue I will do a follow up video

    It was a good vid man. I need to do both sides, got shafts from J&R, recommended by the F-book user group. It's a shame you don't like the Alto, they are pure ace. Thanks, there are no vids in English on this except for yours. Not enough swearing for my liking....but an almost acceptable level

    My 1.9 does the same thing when hot, other than it idles doesn’t hunt like yours just low idle speed , when the idle speed increases to 800 rpm it revs again. If you’re on a hill you can start the engine then roll it downhill to increase revs and it will rev. Very common fault and you have exhausted all the options I have also tried to fix it.

    mass air flow sensor, clean or replace.

      Thanks for the reply. Cleaned maf sensor today using contact cleaner and a soft toothbrush and very delicately cleaned . Didn’t help at all …even if I unplugged the maf it still wouldn’t rev and as a rule usually you unplug maf and ecu goes into a default setting and will work but use more fuel. No joy with this one. So I’m assuming maf is good and it’s something else. But still martin (the owner) is off to get a maf a map and a boost solenoid this morning so we can fire the parts cannon at it. Which I don’t advise anyone does, but bar taking it to an auto electrician I’m all of ideas

      Requires a siemans maf sensor, the old vivaro suffers same issue. Will rev very slowly unplugged by default if unplugged though. New maf fixed this issue on mine anyway, but also I have an existing bypassed map and boost control valve done by prior owners.

      @@expresslockscardiff nah tried everything with this old girl in the end it was an issue With the 6 speed conversion. She has her old 5 speed bk in well it’s a 4 speed since it has no 2nd gear lol and she’s running spot on again. Brucey bonus in all the messing about trying to fix this I’ve inadvertently fixed the only starting with easy start issue lol …don’t ask me how but it now starts on the button. The owner bought it starting on easy start and has been running it for around a year like it lol
