We bought our first home

What do you even write in a description for a video like this? Maybe you start with an enticing hook, like... "watch this to see my shed" or maybe with a startling fact but I don't know any of those so I guess we'll leave that here.
can gaming and self improvement coexist?

A lot of people say that gaming can't exist while doing self improvement. I explore that narrative in this video while doing my best (and failing) to play Skyrim.
The life changing magic of a 5 minute tidy
Переглядів 61021 день тому
I've never been good at keeping a tidy home. For whatever reason, I've always just been able to be blind to the mess. My girlfriend and I recently started a simple new daily routine: a 5 minute tidy. This tidy has been life changing in its ability to add order and intentionality to our lives. What's stopping you from setting a 5 minute timer right now?

I feel this 100%. deleted ig, then post-deletion I started to feel FOMO and like an oddball (as a gen z). but guess what? I will endure the 'pain' of whatever this is, because this is my life and I will choose what I want to consume. just because everyone is on ig it does not mean you should be too. your future self will actually thank you, trust me.

I'm 52 (UK) who works in IT, so knew life before SM, I was an early uptake starting with MySpace and Friends Reunited then onto FB, Twitter and Insta, I discovered SM was bad for me and the world around 2012, so deleted All including SM and have never regretted it, I don't consider YT comments a SM, however have installed a comment blocker which I can turn off/on in real time and will only add a comment if the YT subject matters to me, I never read others + 1 WhatsApp channel used to arrange meet-up with my close group of friends. I am thinking of downgrading to a dumb phone but need the whats-app 1 channel, which is the only thing stopping me ATM.

This argument kinda falls apart at the setup since self improvement and gaming have overlap, as in getting better at a game is improving yourself. But if we're talking about physical improvement then it all just comes down to discipline and balance, if someone really thinks the 2 can't coexist they're not worth listening to.

  • @hektik2074
    @hektik2074 13 днів тому

Everyone can always find a balance, it’s just that some people find it much harder than others and due to this some people never seem to achieve a balance due to never putting in quite enough effort while others seem to do it naturally

I deleted all my social media accounts, and I feel so much happier and healthier. I've had Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok, some even at the same time. For me, the big things I've noticed is: my screen time has decreased, and I have extended battery life with my mobile phone, enjoy life more, and notice things that people with their head in their phone don't.

as im an adult now i def see the reason. it is way too easy to find and contact children over social media. There are way too many weird people, children acting like adults and awful interaction stemming from this problem. I understand the urge to use social media but they really shouldnt be able to post at all

I turned 16 a few weeks ago, so the ban won't affect me. I grew up with the internet and social media, and errrrrrr, I dunno about this ban. It definitely has its positives, but it also has a lot of negatives. I made friends on the internet, I got inspired seeing other people's art, finding new hobbies and fandoms. Hell, I'm a lesbian, and when I realized that, I freaked out, since I had never heard of someone liking someone of the same gender before. It was access to social media that made me realize there were other people like me. I do think there should be more laws about the social media, but I don't really agree with this :/

I am turning 16 early next year so the ban won't really effect me but I think this is going to be bad just think Australia is already so far from the rest of the world and then this will effect friendships virtual schools in Australia the gov have no idea what its like to be 16 and under today 80 percent of most our lives revolve around social media it will skyrocket mental health case in teens. I think there should be way more thought put in to this like easier to use parental controls. most kids I know have comfort streamers tiktokers and I don't think 16 is a good fit I think 13 when you start high school is better alowing you to stay better connected to friends and family members

What I think a lot of people are missing is that kids aren’t being banned from the internet, sure engaging with social media has become one of the main ways that people receive and spread information but social media isn’t the only source on the internet. In some ways it may lead to young people being more aware of the sources (and by extension biases) of the information they receive. It will be interesting to see if this leads to a decentralisation of information because, as much as social media has given a platform to a much more diverse range of opinions, it’s ultimately at the whim of a handful of algorithms as to what we’re actually exposed to

    • @JoeMambrodi

100%, the internet has definitely become more boring with the monopoly of social media platforms, maybe this will bring back the "exploration" aspect of the internet I had growing up. Something I didn't get to touch upon on this video is where they'll draw the lines in terms of social media. I think UA-cam is exempt, but if they're going to do it brand specific, then what's stopping copycat platforms launching just as quick as the previous one gets banned. Twitter - threads - bluesky. Imagine needing to update the law every time a new platform came along

I like that you've provided a nuanced take, and brought up possible outcomes and factors that I've not seen people cover yet. It's definitely going to have a massive effect on Australia as a whole. This ban is going to affect some of my family members and neighbours, so I'll get to witness the effects of it secondhand. I'm just hoping that this ban does somehow end up doing more good than harm.

One of the things that helped me most to regain my focus was to stop listening to music. I went about 5 months without listening to music, and when I did listen to music, it wasn't me who chose it. And that helped me a lot, because I would listen to music all the time and I couldn't think, because I was constantly listening and imagining. It was hard at first, but it was good. And now, I only listen to music when I go for a walk, which kind of motivates me, because I like music and I usually walk 7km, which is kind of exhausting, but with the idea of my only time when I can choose a song and listen to it, it makes it more bearable.
