I"m glad that the Atherton police are concerned over the pedestrian safety, but as someone who bikes and drives on El Camino, the best thing anyone could do for pedestrian safety would be to put in the blinking yellow crosswalk lights. Between the vegetation, the multiple lanes, the 35mph speed, and the shade on the West side, it's really hard to see pedestrians until its too late to safely stop. At night, if a pedestrian isn't wearing lights, it's almost impossible to see that they're there. Kudos to those who do wear them. I'm so grateful tho be able to see them.
