Purdie plays cross stick BUTT DOWN!!! That's the way I play a rim click, but the problem (and benefit) is a lot of variability of TONE. Tip down rim clicks is much more consistent, and louder. IMHO

Thanks for sharing Tom. It's always good to see Dave's stuff here on YT. He and I were close acquaintences back in the early 2000s. Not really tight friends, but we hung together quite a bit back then. Last time I saw him, I ran into him at a gas station in Deerfield Beach. Maybe 2014. He was recording over at Markee on Powerline. Never thought he would pass a year later. We called each other brothers from another mother. He was a good guy.
