I would say mostly Yes. You can try to find used torque converter and swap it to try resolving the issue with it. In my case it was almost resolved.

It’s the oxygen sensor folks it will only make your truck loose power now and then until you change the sensor

I had exactly the same knocking noise. Changed the torque converter and it was solved!

2011 528i same noise but drives ok was it torque converter ?
