I recently restored a 2009 S500 for a friend and he had tail light issues too but luckily its tail lights actually were able to come apart enough to be able to get those circuit boards out. The stupid plastic benz puts in the truck drip rails are a big cause of the electrical issues because the rubber on them and their grommets holding them in degrade and water drips right into the trunk onto the radio stuff, the airbag stuff and the tail light stuff .
