A graded 16mm short film. These are low bitrate footages mostly taken in 1080 years back using Sony 5100, A6500, Fuji Xt-3, I am trying to see if I can grade them to look closer to quality of Sony FX3 or FX30. To cover the quality flaws, I emulated it into a 16mm film look. #16mmfilm #filmemulation

Hello, thanks for the video! Going there soon.
Thanks and enjoy your trip!!
Great videos . What month was this trip in ?
Mid October. Cheers!!
I just bought this camera fand I stumbled upon your channel. You videos are very helpful.
glad u find it helpful. Its a great little camera, I found myself using it more and more often to the extend its almost replacing my wide angle lens. Enjoy your camera and cheers!!
Wah you grew up on Tekong? You must be the only male person in the whole SG with fond memories of Tekong (BMT). Very cool
Tekong was a Kampong island just like Ubin before becoming a military facility. And there are more than 1 male..lol. And my BMT not at tekong too.
HI. Not sure how much you ended up paying for the car rental in the end, but it seems very high. Your basic cost seems reasonable. But the additional costs are big. I guess it is a case of buyer beware as there are some operators who will try to charge what they can. I'd say most of the well known names are usually ok. As a comparison, I hired a 7 seater VW Tourneo which would be tight for luggage space if had 7 passengers. But it cost me £255 for 4 days. It came with a free additional driver and unlimited mileage. If I had taken out their "All inclusive Protection", they were going to charge me £5 per day Yours is over £20 pd (inc VAT)! Then you have approx £140 for additional drivers. Fuelling at about £20 (what's that?). One way fee - fair enough. It's the upgrade stuff that is terrible. It's a tricky one as they never guarantee a particular vehicle. I wonder if the best plan would have been to ask to cancel the original car and take a new upgraded one earlier. But still seems a rip-off for the on-the-spot upgrade.
It was unfortunately a well known brand which I had no issue with in other country. You're right, we would had upgraded online if they gave us the correct info during our email exchange before the trip, and it will be at least around £300 cheaper. The on the spot upgrade fees was ridiculously if you ask me. But we did not want to hassle with the staff about the wrong email info which gotten us into this situation, I mean after 13 hours of flight and travelling with a old age mother in law and kids. We just wanna get it over and done with. But it gotten out of hand when they added more than £300 on top of our upgrade fees to our final bill when we were back home. I had to hassle with them over several emails for about a week in order to get them to admit its their admin mistake to get the refund back. I think I may think twice of using this company in the future.
i cant speak on the race part as i blend in in uk as a person from EU but, uk is safe - in big cities (anywhere in this world) you must be aware of your surroundings and keep valuables in a fannypack at the front. If there are others there no one will do anything to you and you are super safe . use common sense so dark corner with no people -avoid . busy street with heaps of people you can stay there as much as you want even past night time going against what the hotel person told you. for "restaurants" if you can even call them that in UK, most have self at the bar for drinks (i hate it) but from my experience it seems to be the norm . Look at reviews for places and once you are there get the employees name if you have a bad experience that you might think its racial motivated bad service just leave a review that dose more than you think . mention "im a tourist and i was treated by X person in a bad way" . other tourists see that and avoid it to the point that they might reconsider who they hire. Overall i think its a lot of fearmongering and paranoia . those videos you have watched 100% dont help your state of mind + if you look in those videos people are walking with the head down while holding a $1000 phone in their hands , like how dumb can you be ? hope you know what i mean in this rant .
6:25 No offence but I doubt it was racially motivated. There are racists here but they aren't prevalent. Especially not in London. It would be hard to be. People in London are from everywhere. Glad you felt safe and had a good time. You are ofcourse very welcome.
No worries, no offend taken.
We despise Migrants and Islamists! Leave or never come! If you come from Africa or the middle east! Fuck OFF we don't want anymore of you! You have destroyed the UK in 2 decades! It used to be beautiful green and fair land! Now migrants have made it a shitehole 3rd world shite hole! GO HOME!
5:50 It's a legal requirement to serve tap water.
I remember reading that somewhere too. The waitress who billed us was very apologetic for what happen but wee assured her its not her fault. We also did not want to make a big fuss after all we were here for happy holidays!!
5:15 "I'm sorry to disturb you, I was just wondering if you're going to bring me the beer that I ordered". Waiter: "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That's appalling. No tip for that waiter.
hahaha, not really, he actually said no he did not remember me ordering a beer.
As someone who has lived in London for 50 years I found your video very insightful from another persons perspective.
Cheers, just an impression of a short-term tourist. I guess the differences in social norms play a part. I was surprised when another viewer shared it was actually rude to raise my hand to get the attention of waiters for service. Hope I did not offend a bunch of people..hahaha
I'm very sorry about your experience with the waiters. Their behaviour is not typical of the English. Many waiters in London are foreign and have their own prejudices unfortunately. As for the people shouting at them in the pub, the English do get rowdy and jovial after a few drinks. I can assure you that your family was in no danger at all, but I can understand that it would have made them feel uncomfortable.
Cheers, the few incidents did not affect us much. We still enjoy the entire trip a lot. Rude individuals existed every parts of the world. Other than the 2 isolated cases, our experiences with restaurants in different parts of England and Scotland had been very pleasant.
That waiter was not foreign mate
@@harrisr1018 I can only speak for the English in terms of saying it's not typical behaviour. I don't know about foreigners as they may have their own prejudices. I agree it was worded somewhat poorly.
glad you enjoyed the uk apart from london. i used to live there its not my favourite place. also 5:15 you are in a pub from what it looks like which means you don't get table service you order at the bar and collect your drinks. thats why the guy was annoyed with you, also in the uk we have very strange social norms here. so if i raised my hand or tried to get the waiter's attention and expect service this is rude. we are not very service friendly lol but if you are a tourist we try to be. also i noticed the jug of water on the table pubs usually hate that they think you are trying to save money. obviously its not your fault our country is quite confusing sometimes in the way we act. in summary if you want service go to a actual food based restaurant and expect to pay extra. the best way to deal with this is go to the bar first time and explain whats happening. bar staff are generally moody though they dont get paid enough for all the stuff they deal with. rude customers, fights, understaffed etc so dont take it to heart 👍also you pay at the bar they probably set you up a tab to avoid bother but usually you pay for food and drinks first take your drinks tell them the table number sit down and wait for the food. when they have to go around to tables they are off the bar for quite a while then the bar gets busy and fall behind in work then taking frustration out on you
Thanks. We actually enjoyed our trip even in London, just that our first 2 dining experiences happen to be sort of unpleasant. We actually did some research on the Pubs and restaurants cultures and ethic in the UK before our trip, because we try not to inconvenient the locals while being a guest. That first place was indeed a restaurant. Some pubs have a restaurant section which is what it was, and from my understanding it usually operate like a restaurant too. Then again you may be right about the differences in social norms which we were unaware of that may had frustrated that waiter. Well, it's always a good thing and an eye opener to learn about new cultures while travelling. And thanks for the valuable info, that really help us to blend into the culture if we visit the next time. Cheers!
This is great. "How dare them, bringing business to my place?" It´s Brexit in a nutshell.
@@papayajuice wow if that was a restaurant thats really bad sorry you experienced that. i would just keep out of london haha
nice film! will go to genting this december hoping for a good weather! may i know if you are shooting in slog for the whole vlog? because the color grading is excellent!
Thanks. Yes Slog-2.
@@papayajuice what lut are you using? it's really nice in the eyes
I did not utilise any LUT as I find it very troublesome to do adjustment after applying them. Since the look is very dependence on my footage white balance and exposure. The only "lut" i use is the basic rec 709 conversion which I will grade my colour after the conversion. Depending on what software u using, applying your grading from existing clip to other can be quite fast and easy.
@ awesome! Thank you for that 💛💯
You are clearly an intelligent and considerate person _and_ driver. I know this because of two things you said. Firstly, that you decided not to drive in London. This was probably the very best decision you made! Secondly, that you found other drivers to be friendly. Outside of big cities and rush hour, most UK people - be they drivers or not - will be friendly, helpful and polite to foreigners who show politeness and careful behaviour themselves. I am happy that you had, overall, a good experience, despite the rental car problem. I don't know that any one company is better than another; it will depend on the individuals in that particular branch or franchise.
Thanks for the compliment! I am not sure if I deserve that, haha. Yah We did enjoy our UK trip and had a great experience here. Wish we had more time though. Cheers!
Re speed limits - that Volvo you were driving has a “tourist” setting which lets you display the speed in both KPH and MPH (I have the same car and use that travelling to France from the U.K.). But I’m puzzled - how come a U.K. hire car displayed the default speed in KPH? Re car hire companies. They seem to be the same everywhere in Europe when it comes to dreaming up excess charges after the rental event. Not sure why they are so bad in Europe, I’ve rented in the USA and South Africa and never had this - by the way South Africa is by far the best quality and fastest service, at best best value, car hire anywhere (in my experience) if you’re thinking of another holiday!
Did not know about the tourist setting. But i love the handling of this car, and it is pack with a lot of features. No, the default display is in mph, which is the same as their road sign. Seems like I am not the only one having bad experiences with the car rental company here. We actually used the exact same company in Thailand branch and had no issue. And experiences in Australia and New Zealand with other companies were good as well.
@@papayajuice OK, I get it. You looked at the speedo registering 60mph and instinctively thought of it as 60kph? Surprisingly easily done, especially on highways - I used to live in France and sometimes briefly thought I was going way too fast when my car registered 130, the highway speed limit.
Keep your speed down, horses and people could be around the next shape bend
Good tip for country lanes, keep your eyes open for passing spots, small sections wide enough for cars to pass each other and gates to fields
With This Quality U deserved more subs. Amazing Vlog !!
Thanks for the encouragement!
Rule one. Don't hire/drive a Volvo, everyone will assume you are an idiot.
I believe it is a matter of law that car rental firms are obliged, on fear of heavy fines, to hire crooks as employees. They are always trying to bilk you. NB If there is a white line down the centre of the road and the vehicle approaching you is on the other side of that line then, 999 times out of 1000 there will be no problem, Pretty much every car fits into painted carriageways. Country lanes, not so much.
Yup. A very disappointing experience with the rental company. We rented vehicles from different countries and companies..but this is the first time having such issue.
I'm really happy that you didn't just stick around London, I'm really happy you went to other parts of the UK.
Thanks. We only wish we had more time in The UK!!
in the uk google maps is pretty accurate with the lane you need for the junction, only times I've known it to be wrong is if there are roadworks or if the layout has recently changed. For future reference we don't have "highways" we have motorways, A roads and B roads. The roads at about 4:30 you can avoid 99% of the time. For parking google it before you go to the place EVERYTIME, as a brit I always google it. Car hire companies are absolute scammers, unless you absolutely need a car, stick to public transport.
Yes we do have highways. A highway is any road or path that the public has right of access over. Motorways and other major roads are managed by "National Highways". The rules covering the use of roads is called the "Highway Code".
Thanks for the info. Parking in Bath was particularly hard to find. After Bath we did google for parking before arriving in any major cities, and you're right life is much easier that way. Cheers
Ahem ... Highways and Byways ...
Glad you enjoyed your trip. Regarding the very narrow roads these are officially know as "single track roads with passing places" that means it is only wide enough for one vehicle to pass at a time but every hundred meters or more there is a wider spot were 2 vehicles can pass. So what you do is drive along and as you pass one look down the road for the next or anyone else coming, give way if there is someone else there. If you meet someone where you aren't in a passing place the vehicle that can reverse most easily backs up. So if you are following another car don't crowd it as the driver might need to reverse. You might see signs saying "passing place" do not park in these and leave the vehicle you are blocking the road. You can pause if you want to look around or need to read a map. Parking in major cities, particularly ones that tourists might visit York, Bath, Oxford, Edinburgh. USE THE PARK AND RIDE. You park the car outside the city and get a bus service that usually runs every 10 to 15 minutes until sometime in the evening. The bus takes you right into the heart of said city, ask the driver if there are multiple stops. Most of these cities everywhere you might want to visit is going to be within a mile of the centre where the bus drops you and you can walk there more easily than trying to park. Driving in central London just NO. I wouldn't attempt it and i am British, but not a Londoner. Parking is nearly impossible and very, very expensive and still not convenient and then there is trying to find your way around. Get a travel card / Oyster card it gives travel on all the trains and buses in central London those run all day and most of the night. Shame about the car rental firm, they all do some version of trying to chiesel you with extra charges on the rental. Basically, because they are all trying to show the lowest rental rate on price comparison which wont actually make a profit, to get you to select them and then try and make it up by applying expenses you hadn't anticipated.
Thank you so much for the tips. I think these will be valuable info for any tourists intending to drive in the UK. Yah we did our research and did not drive in both Edinburgh and London. Public transport is sufficient for touring around London in particular. Cheers!!
Do you self a favour and avoid the UK. It's not safe here anymore...

Hi , Hi, we're going for a 7-night trip to Chiang Mai early Nov and are concerned about the windy, narrow roads. We're thinking of taking a minivan to Mae Hong Son, renting a car there, and then returning it in Chiang Mai. Is this plan feasible?
I suppose you're talking about taking a mini Van to Mae Hong Son Town? It will be a 6 to 8 hours journey there from Chiang Mai. We did not go to Mae Hong Son town during our trip. The furthest we went along Mae Hong Son Loop was Ban Rak Thai. And I don't think there is any major car rental services at Mae Hong Son town. I think your best bet is still renting a car at Chiang Mai itself. Personally I think the Windy road is really not that bad as long as you drive responsibly. But if you're really not comfortable with driving, there are tour services available to bring you around along Mae hong Son loop, but will be less flexible if you know what I mean. If this is your first time to Northern Thailand and wish to explore Mae Hong Son Loop for a 7 nights trip. I would suggest to base yourself at Pai or around Pai for 4 nights ( as this is the most popular town and there are quite a few attractions surrounding it) and Chiang Mai for 3 nights. And if you're thinking of heading to Ban Rak Thai, I will strongly recommend to stay there for a night. You can refer to our Entire Northern Thailand Vlog for details. Cheers and have a good trip.
Do you require your DJI Phone app to take videos and still shots, or is the camera independent of the DJI app? Great video!
You do not need the app to operate the camera. U can operate the camera entirely with the buttons and touch screen on both side of the camera. But if I remember correctly, you will need the app to register and activate the camera and do firmware updates. Cheers.
Hi, nice vlog just curious how did all 4 of you book 1 room did you not put 2 kids 2 adults in the booking?
actually we can't remember. I think we booked from Agoda, and one of the limitation of such 3rd party agent is even if a room can accommodate extra beds or additional children, once you input 2 adults 2 children, they will prompt with you no room available. What we normally do is input 2 adults 1 children. And during check in time just request additional beds if required.
@@papayajuice Thank you so much for confirming.
great video and review!
Glad you enjoyed it
can i ask you about how can color grading intro like yours
Hi, it really depend on what camera you using, what profile you recorded in, what software you using etc etc. I'm actually still learning too. There are actually tons of free tutorials on UA-cam you can search for, Cheers!!
