On it there is a crudely incised ring-cross with four incised dots in the interspaces and four smaller dots (one of which is fractured away) in the upper and lower spandrels. It dates...

Aberdare was great back in the late 1950s..... ...if its a shitehole now its due to the people and their feral brats...............

Looks good from the air but a foot level believe me folks it's a dump!!!!!!!
Born and bred in Aberdare..now live in Italy....Joes Fish Shop the best in the Valleys
It's a big hole place? never knows it was there?
The trucks just seem to be transporting waste material from the hole bottom and piling it up near the top? no coal seems to be extracted? this is very odd looking?
What a superb empty beach? hardly anyone enjoying it? AND near Porthcawl?
Doing a family tree search and found my great great grandfather was born in Aberdare in 1833. Beautiful area.
hey there @dronez7884, would you permit me to use this footage for an upcoming music video on my channel?

Ruined countryside by populated development
You're right and I'm from there. Mountain Ash is a shit hole
A great film, thank you! I stayed in Mountain Ash (aged 20 years) for one night only on 29 / 30 October 1971, and its people created such a wonderful impression that here I am close to fifty years later not only remembering it but checking it out on the interenet! It was the eve of the Nos Galan 40 mile track race held at Maindy Stadium organised by the legendary Sir Bernard Baldwin and all competitors were treated to a civic reception/ dinner (hosted by Bernard) at the Civic Centre, which then comprised an old building which I think was made from wood. After dining we were then all provided with free overnight accommodation within the homes of local families. I stayed with the local vicar and his wife whose house was located near the top of a hill somewhere in town. Not very long ago I decided to contact Bernard to let him know that he was still affectionately remembered, only to discover that he had died only three months earlier. The moral to this story being that if you feel that you wish to pass kind words on to anyone best not leave doing so until tomorrow. God bless Mountain Ash and its residents.
lovely story, Possibly stayed with vicar Norman Brown (later Canon Brown), in the vicarage at the top of the steep hill that is York Street. He still lives in mountain ash in his 90's now.

HORRID - The Conservative government completely destroyed peoples jobs, futures , hopes and communities . Never forgotten !
Labour shut more mines than the Tories Thatcher hammered the last nail in the coffin by using the good old "divide and conquer" method
@@angliscsaxon1288 I have never stated Labour hadn't closed mines. Yes, mines were closed under Labour which had reached their natural productive end. However the Conservatives were out to smash and divide.
Omg I live here and I dident know how big it was HOLY

@Kaiser Castiel lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Hezekiah Ricky definitely, I have been using FlixZone for since april myself =)
@Hezekiah Ricky Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I really appreciate it!!
@Kaiser Castiel You are welcome :)
how much it as changed in less than two years
Although I love open pit mine sites, this mine is a complete scar on the landscape and scenery around Merthyr Tydfil , they should have started from the other end,and built a huge embankment so the pit itself, couldnt be seen ,it is visible from any area of the town .
Superb video - very professional looking. The music is gorgeous. You've done an excellent job.
