What classifies a Louis bag as "vintage"? What years are selling for a premium?
Watching in June of 2022! Love LV. This was interesting 😎
"Quality Never Lies"
This is amazing! Makes me sick to see someone else profiting from fakes. I wish we could stop fakes in fashion. 😞
Not all the people have thousands of dollars to buy the real thing. God bless the ones can but the rest of the people they have other choices if they like the brand . Besidr the luxury stores buy the products cheap from the makers and sell them very expensive .
The older LV’s were better made
Everything is.
ILL BUY 10 OF THOSE
Blurry video 😅
Do all Louis Vuittons have a date code. What about the antique items & Is it always 4 numbers or sometimes 3 numbers
You are so beautiful 😍
I own many lv bags, clothing, accessories ect. They're impeccable and truly feel great.
I have a couple of vintage bags! I LOVE THEM
He seems not very confident... not very consistent when explaining...
Watching this video makes me proud to have my Speedy 30 in Monogram been having it since 2012 & in two years she will be considered vintage 😌
Loved the dreamy look he got when he said that the patina tells the story of the bag. 🥰
Me too. He is passionate about his craft
Not all their products are perfect my speedy had loose treads coming from the bottom that I never noticed at the store till I got home.. lately their products are not top quality...
Unfortunately Louis Vuitton quality control has gone downhill
"look at the Seams" ==> not true , they sold like Fendi in the 80´s , items where they didn´t made any quality checks cause so many people wanted LV and other luxury brands so they sold everything.
Hi Li! Thanks for this video. I have a quick question on the off-chance you or someone from Deconet has this level of knowledge: I've inherited a pair of original E. Kold Christensen PK22s from my grandfather. They are beautiful, but the leather is falling apart to the degree that they cannot be sat upon. Will having them re-upholstered by a master upholsterer affect their value? Negatively? Positively? If the answer is negatively, would it be better to sell the pair that I have in their current condition to a collector and purchase new ones from Fritz Hansen? Thanks so much!!
what is quality if it is so heavy bag oh no hahaHAHAHAHA
Sp spain not france
eva b. good wrong google date code
eva b. good google Yoogie closet
French company used nickle without logo brass rivets
I loved the LV French company speedys
Ahhhh!!! I love listening to this stuff! 😍😍😍
''Jura'' is not a town sir it´s a ''département''!!
I want to get two Swan chairs, but not many replicas come close to the real thing. An online store called Barcelona Designs sells one that's very popular, that's one I would consider, but the original beats them all.
The sound in the backround is so annoying!
I love real Louis Vuitton, but those tipps to identify a real one are always ridiculous. I‘ve seen fakes which have everything what he pointed out. I‘m looking for tipps which are usefull.
Here's a tip...buy from lv. Then you wouldn't need any tips.
I was really let down when I went to the Vegas Louis Vuitton store for the museum tour explaining why they don't use real leather anymore but over all the art and just hearing the history of some pieces was amazing I would recommend making an appointment to visit the shop if you are interested in LV
On some vintage bags Early 80s the date code the first two number is the year and the second two the month.
This guy doesn't even know what he's talking about. The 1st and 3rd digit of the date code refer to the WEEK of the year, Not the month. Therefore SP 0955 means that the bag was produced in France in the 3rd week of 1995.
I believe that's the new way to date. I think they changed it to the way you are saying in 2000. before that it was the month and year. Now its the week and year.
@@HypnoticLashStudio in that case, I'm the one who doesn't know what I'm talking about. ;)
He created canvas to keep water away.. nice.. but what about watermarks on vachetta..? 😂
I swear i'm ready to just cover my vachetta in water and get it over with!
@@jdotcurtis Best response written. (Up to the user if they want to.)
I painted my alma vachetta baby pink😂
The vachetta can always be replaced; the canvas can’t. As long as canvas is in good shape Louis Vuitton will replace or repair the vachetta. However, if the canvas is damaged, Louis Vuitton won’t even touch it. Damaged canvas is pretty much the “death” of a Louis Vuitton item.
That was interesting to hear. That's the haters thing, it's just vinyl covered card board.
say ehm one more time
all I heard was "ehm eh ehmmm ehh" this dude can't talk
This video was very helpful.
Excellent interview! Still good even in 2018. It made me admire Louis Vuitton more.
Don't purchase "vintage" (old) Louis Vuitton it is a waste of money due to the fact that the leather is dry rotten. Why? Vachetta is untreated leather that looses moisture, and it's oils as it ages leaving behind a dry shell.
You can apply leather conditioner. Leather lasts very long if taken care of.
You can learn how to view photos and I buy from Japan; always great purchases.
Why did they change the quality of the canvas? They are not as thick and strong anymore
Tinker Diggens bc they would crack a little easier. The newer canvas is more flexible and soft.
I got so many 80´s and 90´s LV items and the canvas is awesome , the only thing whats cracking is the leather.. thats it
Kac4 KLHC That is true. I got my doctors bag in 77.

Before buying, consider their Nazi historical ties
Alyssa Lopez You mean how like 80 years ago they were forced to work for the invading government that had ravaged their city? Why would that change anything?
Alyssa Lopez
This makes me realize how special these bags are.
Lol
great infoThanks!
wow that vintage is fabulous! im in love with vintage lvs
just a correction. The first and third is the week not the month. So it was created on the 5th week (January) of 1995.
Josie Gabriel Not on this one. LV changed the first & third numbers to week around 2007. So this bag being made in 1995 would mean the first & third numbers are the month. So May 1995 is correct.
I enjoy your talk on LV bags.
Seams, locks, zips are all easy ways to tell authentic luxurious goods from imitations.
1995 is not that old How about the 60's or 80'sLV ?
The brand is over 150 years old....
LV only started using date codes in the early 80's
sounds like there are in Sweden.
Thank you. This is one of my very favourite chairs! Kjaerholm was a brilliant designer.
Great video, and a beautiful chair. Unfortunately, I own a Swan chair with the swivel that came in two parts. However, when I lifted it once to clean it, it came apart and the bearing ring that made for a smooth swivel fell out. Do you know where I can get a replacement part? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Danke!
Fritzhansen.com in Denmark
This video was just lovely. Thank you.
I wouldn't say he was an artisan for richer family....he was an artisan for travelers and the working class etc. The deal is the ideas for the working class, executives, corporations and travelers are not the same, the resources often limited, and the work ardous (as in, stressful..will the supplies get a delay or be stuck at the duanne etc...or due to weather conditions)...remember it's hand crafted...
