    Nice. I was looking for something like this. I am putting up a fence around my garden. It has a lot of slopes and bumps. A 5’ fence will be 5’ no matter if it’s in a slope or on a horizontal ground? I have been imagining the poles in the slopy areas has to be either shorter or taller than the ones at the horizontal area, but I might be wrong. The chain link fence is flexible. It also looks like you cut the fence at the corners. Any reason why you dont go around the corners, especially a corner between horizontal and slope?

    That 45 degree angle makes more sense to me, than when I was in school. 🤣🤣 however I was planning on redoing my double 6’ gate, because it was weak and already sagging. Thanks for the breakdown and knowledge and now I have you to look forward to in my future projects.

    Those are the best sound methods until you get a customer that wants to see the concrete at the top of the hole. Some people want it and i dont know why. Im a 3rd generation fence man, my dad did it for over 50 years. We are in Rhode Island and SE Massachusetts.

    2:43. The greatest tip in any fence construction video! No math, no counting. Just line up the tension bar!! I'm thinking you could even slide a marker alongside the tension bar, and then just cut on the line. Do you need to cut a bias when going up and back down a hill? How is that done?

    Thank you for your video. Your approach is much faster than mine. My strategy, a few days ago, was to: (Step 1 put a few wood screws into the side of the fence post), (Step 2 fill some five gallon plastic buckets with rocks or sand until the bucket was roughly half way full of rocks and roughly half full of air). (Step 3 Put a second bucket of rocks on top of the half full bucket of rocks -- double stack the buckets of rocks) (Step 4 tie the post, loosely, to the buckets of rocks with ratcheting tie down straps) (Step 5 use a bubble level) (Step 6 adjust tie down straps and tighten the tie-down straps until the bubble level showed that the fence post was plumb or trued-up). That took more than 45 minutes for one post. Your strategy is faster. Hold the post still when the bubble level shows correct positioning and pour in dry concrete. Pack, and tamp down, the dry concrete until there are no air pockets. The post does not move at that point. After that, use municipal water piped through a garden hose to moisten the concrete and/or use rain water to moisten the concrete.

  • @samuelmuldoon4839
    @samuelmuldoon4839 Місяць тому

    If the metal part of a spirit level (bubble-level) had some small holes (e.g. 1/8 inch diameter) drilled through the metal part, then you could use an electric drill to temporarily attached the spirit level to the side of the fence post. Then you would have both hands free to do things, because the level would not fall down.

    It looks like there is not a 2x4 on the hinge side of the gate. Is that correct and if so why not? It seems like it would need one. I don’t want to screw up my gate.

    I still don't understand how the pickets can be plumb if they aren't perfectly cut straight from the factory. IF all uneven from Lowes or Home Depot that would slowly push out of plumb. What's the explanation for this?
