RZR XP 1000 Roll Cage and Bumpers build
Переглядів 4,2 тис.4 роки тому
I wanted a custom cage and bumpers. Decided why not give it a try myself. This is my first attempt at building a roll cage and my first time using a Tube bender. I Bought a JD2 Model 32 bender and a Swag Off-road adapter and went on my way. Chose to paint it myself rather then powder coating for a 1/4 of the price. Happy with the way it all turned out. Chopped around 4-5” height on the rear of ...

How do you fasten it the frame to the bed
@@mynameisgeiger turnbuckles to the four tie down locations in corners of bed
Do not store gas tanks on their sides. Especially acetylene
The Acetylene is vertical… oxygen and inert gas does not matter if it’s on its side
@@Markyusishen ahh
What kind of pipe stands are you using where theyre elongated, for you to drive under it?
I just used length of pipe instead of sleeve it came with for extra height. You can buy pipe stand extensions though. I know Javelin makes them. These stands I think are GRB.
Would you mind writing out a material list?
Remove skid to pull out of garage or do the reels swivel down
No it fits lol. Couple inches to spare.
What is the thickness of the angle iron used for the welder to sit on? 1/8”?
Mark, on the spacing for the bottles what size (Diameter 7in. or 9in.) bottle do you show in the Video, 150cf or a 200cf?
Pretty sure 200cf. It’s the standard industrial size bottle. 5’ tall. Deff not 7”
@@Markyusishen Ok one last question, what did you set your inside width where the bottles go, between the 2" tubes?
@@s1084098 I’ll measure it tomorrow. Can’t remember off the top of my head
@@Markyusishen thanks! looks like I'm gonna have to do some adjusting on the skid we are building. You video has been a huge help!
What’re the demensions and thickness of materials for the end gate?
3/16” plate for the top. 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” x 1/8” HSS for thr rest of it. It’s kinda heavy. Tempted on switching it out for all aluminum and just have it hinged to the carbon steel. It was cheap to build then and I didn’t have the ability to weld the aluminum when I first built the skid
WHERE DID YOU BUY YOUR REELS?
Castleweldshop.net they are Alumareels
How did you figure out your bends?
Couple different ways. I used a string line at the height and angle I wanted it to run. Then held a digital angle finder off roll cage to string line off cage. Along with using sin/cos/tan math from all the bung locations to the desired dimensions. If you look at things as if it were multiple triangles it makes it easier.
Nice job!
really nice! how did you paint it?
What are you floor dimensions if you don’t mind me asking? The ones for inside the box?
It’s 1270mm between wheel wells. 1450mm wide after the wheel wells on tail light end. 1890mm long. 530mm high to get cabinets above box sides
Is the height from the floor? It’s a nice set up! Do you mind if I copy the design?
Height from bottom of skid to bottom of cabinets. And not at all
Why didn’t you put the acetylene holder behind the machine? Just curious, because I see they are commonly mounted there. Also what size tool boxes?
@@wolfe9905 I added my propane bottle and rod oven behind the machine after the video. I didn’t want to lift a big acetylene bottle in that awkward corner of my box with thr truck being lifted. Boxes are a weird size like 30” made them specific size for thr room I had
Thing is bitchin. Good work man
Fucking nice
Great job!!! Love it!!!!
Can you show how it looks when in use, on a gig or something, would really appreciate it!
Is there any particular reason you used 2x2 hss for some of the skid and not 1.5x1.5 for the whole thing?
Hey Mark where did you buy the hinges and handles ? I can't seem to find any online!
I got them off Amazon. Ones I went with are stainless from TCH Hardware. I was having a hard time finding them as well
@@Markyusishen ok thanks and really good video
Cool set up
Really well thought out. Good job guy.
Nice work, where does your acetylene tank mount?
I have a piece of 6” channel welded on from the frame of the skid up the back side of the drivers side cabinet with some links from a chain welded on. Right up tight near the welding machine. Top of the bottle is the height of the cabinet when it’s in the truck. I just use two 1” ratchet straps to hold it in.
Very nicely done. Turned out great 👍
Nice setup
Nice build! It looks awesome!
Nice rig build!!
U need more make more videos of the rig . Nice 👌 job
What size of tubing and plate did you buy for this build?
2”x2”x1/8” for most of the frame. 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” x 1/8” for the deck and frames for cabinets and machine. 3/16” plate for deck.
Awesome thank you so much for your reply is the cabinets made out of the same 3/16 plate?
@@darkwing1018 oh hell no. Lol. 14 gauge. Nice and light
Fantastic work, sir! $1200 bucks and your own labor? That's awesome. Gives me a good idea as to how to build my own. Thanks!
Yeah my own labour. Most time consuming part was building the cabinets and not having a break press. But it’s where I saved the most money .
Hey Mark about how much was the matierals
$1200 Canadian. Metal supply store I purchased from is more on the expensive side too. They have no minimum order sizes and sell to everyone which is convenient but more pricey. I bought 4x8 3/16 for the deck $302 Cabinets 2 sheets of 14 gauge $275 40’ of 2x2” HSS $245 60’ of 1.5”x 1.5” HSS $268 20’ of 1” angle and 20’ 1.50 angle $80 for the lips on the cabinets. All Canadian prices
Why didn’t u just build a bed all that work and it’s still bathtubed doesn’t make any since to me
Worked better for me at this time. Don’t have space to store my box once I take it off. Or means to lift a heavy deck from my garage on to my truck. This was cheap. Easily removable with pipestands if I want my box back if I’m not working. And I’ve never been a fan of short box single wheel decks. I 100% agree with you decks are way better to store tools and work off. When the time comes and I get another truck I’ll be getting a long box dually and I’ll do a deck for it.
Isn't a shitty tub skid tho. These actually can hold a lot of shit in comparison. A large majority of rigs in Canada are this way. We carry a lot more things than a pipeline style tub would hold.
Lol. Great job mark
To bad it’s a Pooooolaris
you should do a walk around
Nicely done
Great build, well done!
Clean build man
Hey now!
I would love to take my SXS up riding in the winter to the mountains! Looks like alot of fun!
BertaRiders oh its tons of fun. Drifting everywhere and doing cyclones. Crazy how well they perform in the snow. I just watched all your videos and googled the locations. Moved from Kelowna to Edmonton couple months ago and need to find new riding areas
@@Markyusishen Thanks for taking the time to watch them! There is alot of good spots to go for sure. Will be going out to alot more at some point. Will keep in touch and meet at one of these riding areas or a new place I haven't been.
