Astrovlog #25: Equinox - The Great Galaxies
The large galaxies are always worth seeing. Today we start with the Pinwheel Galaxy, M101. It gets its name from its shape. It is a very beautiful spiral galaxy. It is not very bright, you have to expose it for a long time. The night sky was very bright in this photo. But with a little editing you can see its structures
We continue with NGC 5907. It is also called the Splinter or Knife Edge Galaxy. Here too, the shape gave it its name. It is an edge-on galaxy. So we see it from the side. It has a special feature. It is surrounded by a tidal stream. This is a remnant from a collision with another galaxy. Unfortunately, it can only be seen with larger telescopes.
The next galaxy is also almost edge-on. It is the Cigar Galaxy, M82. You can see that again the shape gave it its name. It is very close to M81, as we will see in a moment. This proximity caused ionized hydrogen gas to form. This surrounds the galaxy as a red gas cloud. This is clearly visible in the pictures.
Now M81. The galaxy has 10 times more mass than the Cigar Galaxy. This explains the influence on it. M81 is also called Bode's Galaxy. We look at it at an angle. You can see it with binoculars. M81 is not named because of its shape, but after its discoverer, Johann Elert Bode.
That's it, greetings to everyone, wherever you are.

Astrovlog #24: Dwarf II - Andromeda M31
Переглядів 183День тому
The Dwarf II is a good device to capture large objects. Andromeda is well suited for this. The total exposure time is around 109 minutes. Dwarf II captures Andromeda as well as its two companions. Above: M110 is an elliptical galaxy. Below: M32 is a dwarf galaxy. And on the right edge of Andromeda you can see NGC 206, a small blue star cloud. Andromeda is our neighboring galaxy. It can be seen ...

Visiting Toronto - Canada
Переглядів 14821 день тому
We arrived in Toronto in the evening, so we immediately went to see Toronto's little Times Square, which is called Yonge Dundas Square. That's why we took an evening walk to see the lights and billboards. The next morning, we went to the square between the old and new city hall. There, it's clearly written in large letters what city you're in: Toronto. Nowadays, every city seems to have somethi...

Tunnels! That's nostalgia. To the left and right the barren landscape of Mallorca. We say goodbye with these nostalgic pictures. Greetings to everyone, wherever you are.

Astrovlog #22 - Dwarf II with new software
Переглядів 53Місяць тому
I put the device away almost a year ago. The quality was bad. As you can see, there were some colorful artifacts. Now I've taken it out again. New app, new firmware. The same object and much better. Good results even without editing. The operation has improved. I didn't expose the objects for long. This is a first test NGC 6888 is just about recognizable. But with a little effort you can see so...

The historic tram of Soller. The tram runs between Soller and the sea. We took the reverse route from the sea to Soller. First we drive along the sea and promenades. Nuremberg radio tower - the Nuremberg Egg
Переглядів 192 місяці тому
I wasn't just in Nuremberg. I discovered the tallest building in Bavaria. It's called the Nuremberg Egg because of the tower basket. It is the third tallest television tower in Germany. The Berlin and Frankfurt towers are taller. You used to be able to enter the tower. It's now closed. There were campaigns to reopen the tower. But the high costs prevent that. In 2015 there was a one-off open da...
Astrovlog #21 - Sunspots with Dwarf II
Переглядів 402 місяці тому
It was a sunny day with light clouds. I wanted to try the Hestia from Vaonis but the phone didn't stick to this thing. So I dug out my Dwarf II again. With the new software it is easy to use. You can set it to follow the sun. And he does this very well even during a passing cloud. It is amazing that the sunspots can still be seen through the cloud cover. I thought I had to stop because the clou...
Retrofitting a trailer hitch on the Cupra Born

The trailer hitch is simply inserted into the guide and clicks into place. With...

Cupra Born 77 kWh, 170 kw - 1 year old and still great
My cupra born is charging at no more than 50kw in the Tesla superchargers I think has to be something wrong with the car today I’m getting 40 kw 😵💫
Maybe it was to cold? Or the supercharger is an old charger? How many kw do you get with other chargers?
hello, what is your name?
Hi, my Name is Juergen
where can i find that filter?
In the app
@ the adjust button?
@woodfamilycamp
Best place in Berlin😃. More of this reconstruction please🙏🏻
Eine Bereicherung für Berlin...
Ja, mit Ecken und Kanten 😀
The old palace was not kitsch, ornament does not equal kitsch.
Berlin city palace is beautiful
so so
@@hoywoyandastro why so so? Because it's not fully traditional, I heard that this building has a side that is fully modern.
@@javierpacheco8234 yes, it is so.
@user-yp2mw2ko9k yeah the modern facade is not aesthetically pleasing but this reconstruction of Berlin city palace is both traditional baroque and modern architecture and that is demonstrating the past and present.
@@javierpacheco8234 I disagree. I don't think that ugly and depressing facade represents modernity. There are good examples of modern architecture, but I believe the original design should have been respected. If modern elements or materials are added, they should respect and align with the old design.
👍 just subscribed (❁´◡`❁)
Thank you
When wanting a quick picture when weather is closing in or time to go I've gone without the filter then used contrast to eliminate graininess.
Tbh it was virtually impossible to get it to charge properly on their recommended power and charger supplier Octopus and Ohme.
Okay, I’m sorry. But you have seen, I charged my car 🙂
@@hoywoyandastro What rate did it charge at? Cupra Official website has a technical drop down page which sets out charging performance. For DC it should charge 5-80% in 35 minutes. Actually it took 50-55mins. Worse still it never even peaked at the rate it would need to average to achieve 35mins. The specification is not caveated. A courtesy Cupra did the same. I have detailed charge info but neither VW or retailer Listers have challenged the accuracy of the information. Trying to find anyone who has one which charges at the specified rate!
I ran a similar test in my Bortle 8 skies and the difference for emission nebulae (the filter is only useful for emission nebulae) like M42 was enormous. My assumption is that in low Bortle skies the images would look better without the filter but I've had no opportunity to try that out yet.
Thank you for this information
Excelente
Can it record when the car is parked?
No it can't
Wich filter ? You mean light pollution filter?
Yes I mean the built-in light pollution filter
Will try, been using my s50 a few times and just realized it has built in filter.
Eqionox is 114 mm the SeeStar S 50 is 5Omm not even close comparison. Eqionox has more than double the aperture of the S 500 and cost three times as much.
Seestar is easier to use. You can travel with it.
@lighstwatch - SeeStar version #1 is for the beginner. SeeStar version #2 (intermediate) plans are ... Larger Diameter Lens + Equatorial Tracking + Mosaic Stitching. SeeStar version #3 (expert) ?
@@MrSummitville Can you buy Seestar #2?
Nice assortment of targets. I've looked at a few of those with my Seestar, but several of them I haven't. I need to check those out! Thanks!
You can’t see all targets at the same time. In every month you find other targets. Have fun with your seestar
What is the Bortle quality of your sky; are you close by a town?
I don’t know my bortle. I live at the edge of a small town.
I’d say the SeeStar, at $500, holds up pretty well against the $2,500 EQUINOX 2.
yes, I agree. It is a good device for beginners an as a second device. I use both, so I can take more pictures in a clear night.
Nice 👍
Thank you
Nice pictures. I got the deluxe edition and tested it out today. Do I need the other lens to capture images like this ?
What for a deluxe edition? I can recommendet the equinox/eVscope. Dwarf II is so-so
Great insges ftom the dwarf and yourself, thank you
Your welcome
Are you using the original eQuinox, or the more recent and upgraded eQuinox 2?
Hi, I use the first edition.
Halló from Lanzarote island.
And a hallo back from Germany, where it is cold and windy.
What telescope would you pick
If you want only one, I would prefer the Seestar. It has good quality and price.
it's almost a match to the jwst(james web space telescope)isn't it?!!!
Maybe, but I don't know the pictures from jwt
Dwarf2 should be going to 1x1 binning or effectively no binning, making Pleiades, Beehive or M36, M37 and M38 very atttractive. Great for M32! It does have FITS file so you can process image.
It's not my intention to process fits files, I want to use it as an automatic device.
May I know where can buy the "Bahtinov Mask" for Dwarf II in USA ??? Thank you!!! !!!
I found someone on etsy.com
I guess it has its limitations but it seems good gor a novice like me
Yes it is limited. But it is a good gear to start with astrophotography, it is affordable
Beautiful
Thank you
may really better then seestar s50 with his mpx
okay, if you think so
Ive been here, thanks for film
Your Welcome
Have you not taken dark frame images with the Dwarf II? This should eliminate the color artifacts issue.
I tried it, but it only got a little bit better
@@hoywoyandastro Place it inside the bag in a dark room for best results.
@@starsandnightvision I know it and I did it
Hello! Very good photos. I own the same telescope, however I don't have the time to use it as often as I would like. I use an older version of the application (android). I am reluctant to "upgrade" to unistellar's DEEP DARK TECHNOLOGY (DDT). I don't like AI tweaking the images. I can't be sure anymore that the final images are real. Even on their site, if you read carefully the expressions they use, their answer is ambiguous. I quote" .., it is real, we do NOT make any overlay of any preexisting images....." What about an overlay on the "captured" image? Have you upgraded the app and the firmware? If yes what are your opinion?
Everything you do with pictures (AI or yourself) makes them unreal. Look at the sky with your bare eyes. What do you see? Nothing or a little more. So what?
WOOW THIS PHOTOS OO COOL MAN!
Thank you
I bought the Vespera scope. Did I buy the wrong scope? need to know asap!!
I think, Vespera takes better images than Dwarf II. The Dwarf is too cheap and does not have features like vespera.
second. love it
Thanks

Hi Is this a good electric vehicle to replace a Mark 2 VW Golf of 25 years? It seems perfect for a small family but I think your 77kWh battery would reduce the available rear seat options,
Hi, yes I think it’s the right car. It’s a spacious car and with 77 kWh you have enough energy for a longer trip
I've been thinking of replacing my Mark 2 VW Golf of 25 years for a Cupra Born. Is the Cupra Born a good replacement for such a car in the 21st century for you?
Hi, yes I think it’s the right car. It’s a spacious car and with 77 kWh you have enough energy for a longer trip
Well the most important part (removing the cover) is missing 😂
Yeah, but I needed both hands and I could not hold the camera 🤣
Haha - you wait until you try to get the cable removed you cant see in this vid
