Got a new GoPro 11 so here's an updated video of me riding home from work in 4k at 60FPS with Hyperview.
Crashed my Apollo Phantom V2 on the way home from work
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
Skip to 4:40 to see me in action. The Phantom took almost no damage. The phone holder got nuked (didn't like it anyway) and 2 rubber caps flew off. Luckily I was able to go back and find them without issue. Otherwise there's just a couple of scratches on the deck and suspension. Clearly I was at fault for both doing 52kph into a blind turn and crossing the centerline. Thankfully I was able to a...

Seems like you and karma are gonna have plenty more run ins🥴🫣
Not really. Only fell twice, once after this and I was going half the speed as this crash. :D
Dude that's crazy
Wow bro you are lucky. Slow down on turns and when you cant see far ahead. Also slow down on the paths. Glad you are ok.
Thanks. You're right so I adjusted my riding to be safer and not so reckless. :D
@@jriding6161 YA BRO honestly just want you to be safe. But I get it the speed is a rush.
Riding like this is what gives them reason to make laws. Takes the fun away 😮💨
Sorry but this is exactly why we will have stricter regulations very soon with regards to electric recreational vehicles like scooters and bikes.. Riders aren't using enough common sense on walk paths and roads so they can show off or make videos.. It's one thing if you are going fast where it's safe to do so but come on man, you're blowing by people on a public walking path in a park.. When we start getting taxed or harsh regulations you can thank riders just like this and all those sur-ron type bikes blowing by cars on the road.. You're ruining it for the legitimate people that just want to ride to have fun or commute to work. You can ride these things and still be respectful.
E-Scooters are great hybrid vehicles. When you're on the road, you're "a car". When you're on a bike path, you're a "bike". When you're on a walkway (including sidewalks), you're a "pedestrian". Still, the main reason this particular fall happened was the rider riding the wrong way down the bike/run path to "cut the corner". The same thing happend less than a minute before when a pedestrian was along the edge of the road. In short, what I've learned to do on e-scooters are two things for these situations: 1) ride like a car/bike and stay in the same lane, with traffic, and 2) slow down and give right of way to people, including walkers/runners, and slower vehicles, including bicycles and e-bikes (if they're going slower).
reason why regulations are sharpened. Shame to your driving skills. Ya not alone on the road and it is not yours. thumbs down from me!
Stock tires?
In this video, I was using stock tires but I've since replaced them with PMT tires and heavy duty inner tubes. Huge improvement all around.
Go somewhere like forest service road to soar
Literally let others hate scooters and city ban it completely
This is exactly why there is a speed limit bylaw
What happened? Sand slip? Skidding on sand?
High-sided when I tried to zig zag around a biker. I'm far more cautious now lol.
This has to be the most perfect commute
Agreed. I look forward to each day.
It appears you learned nothing from it either. You were going way to fast around a corner and then after all that you continued to travel way to fast for this multi use path. People like you are the reason cities want scooters banned
you deserved that crash. Slow down when there's other people around you ffs....
pros and cons of the scooter so far for you ? how well does it fit into the trunk of a car? I have been thinking of getting one but want to be able to put it in my trunk with a few other things. I drive a 2015 mazda 6
The only con is it's not as portable as you'd like. While the stem folds down, the handlebars are wide enough to make storing it anywhere a pain. I doubt it'll fit in the trunk of a Mazda 6 without removing the handlebars like they are when you receive it from the factory. That's the only con really. This scooter is awesome. The pros are dual motor, tons of power, tons of speed, smooth suspension, regen throttle, nice bright display and decent range of approx. 60-70KM. The range is good enough I can ride to work and back and still have over 50% charge so thankfully I don't need to drive it anywhere by car.
I do this ride often. I love the stretch between the zoo and 64th. I ride a purple v2.
Awesome! Yeah, it's a blast. Hopefully we run into each other. :D
@@jriding6161 for sure. I go on group rides every once in a while too. There are a few Phantoms in Calgary.
Definatelt a few moments in this ride where you were out of control and you didnt know it, spend some time on a mtb or bmx, your control will go up alot. And it will force you to stay safer as you will know the limitations of your vehicle and your skills.
Your putting your life in the hands of chance man. I rode bmx for years, one unfortunate crash and on the concrete and my life was changed forever, not worth it man, you are lucky to have suck an amazing vehicle, use it wisely, have fun, but stay safe.
Could tell that whole video you were going to crash, irresponsible rider smh
Yeah, this is way too fast. I get scared every time you pass someone.
What helmet are you wearing?
It's a standard bike helmet which is not sufficient. I need a full face downhill mountain bike helmet but won't get one until spring.
@@jriding6161 ya you usually fall face first on a scooter so I thought a full face would be better than a bike helmet
@@Gabethebot I fell twice and both times I landed on my hands but there will come a time when I'll hit something with my head so I'll be investing in a proper full face. Thanks.
btw: I now wear an Alpinestars SM5 helmet with 100% goggles. Highly recommended.
Dude SLOW down on walking paths when you see people walking SLOW DOWN your dangerous. Also it's your fault for leaning towards left lane and that was blind spot not good wear a protective gloves.
Of course it's my fault. I'm not blaming anyone here and I'm taking full responsibility for my actions. I now wear motorcycle gloves and it's much better than bare handed. Thanks for your comment.
Have you heard the saying... It's better to be safe than sorry ? And there's another one... You should learn by your mistakes
Trust me, I've learned from my mistakes. I no longer take that blind that fast and instead I ride my brakes and slow way down. Thanks for your comment.
@@jriding6161 : I learned by my mistakes too... I was calling people f***ing idiots, for walking around without looking, (causing me to take evasive action). But I came to my senses and slowed right down when people are around
@@robinarden8877 I've been guilty of doing that as well so I also try to less aggressive to strangers. Now I just say 'good morning' as often as I can. :D
The way he flying around the corners is scary especially with people walking and riding bikes
It's borderline crazy if not reckless. I learned the hardway but hopefully you've enjoyed the video. Thanks for your comment.
slow down on blindspots cuz you might collide with someone otherwise speed up how much u like
Yeah, that's exactly what I do now. When I watch my first video, I cringe every time I blast around a blind corner. Now my rides are far more safer. Thanks for the comment.
You are not a professional. You're not even a good rider.
Take it to the road guy. I have 5000+ miles on a ghost & get so much shit from others because people like you. I've never hurt anyone or myself, but you could have easily changed someone's life. You're spoiling the fun for everyone cause you're riding like a dick head.
I don't know why you left this up. It does not make you look cool. It makes you look like an idiot. Being a fellow hyper-scooter rider, I would normally be empathetic towards any crash, but not this time. You barrel through a blind corner, in the opposing lane, almost hit somebody and crash. Ok, a brief lack of judgement can happen to any of us. But then you get right back up, hit the throttle and almost hit a woman walking just a few corners later! You blow by pedestrians with their back to you, and blow right by dogs that will regularly lunge at scooters, expecting that they all heard your stupid little bell. Yeah, I know you've replied to other comments saying you've changed your ways, but I'm not buying it or you would have been embarrassed enough to remove this video. Even if you don't injure someone besides yourself, it's people like you that will get pedestrians and bicycle riders angry enough to complain and get escooters banned on bike paths. Grow up.
I appreciate you taking accountability for your complete recklessness and I hope you make the effort to change your ways because you are literally the type of individual that gives escooters a bad rep. Whipping past unaware pedestrians and running red lights etc. Straight up disrespectful and dangerous. I recently purchased a Phantom V2 and love it! Change your ways and don't be such a goof!
Nice riding but i would’ve slowed down on that blind curve
If you haven’t already I would get a full head helmet/ motorcycle helmet. My cousin went down on a skateboard going 20 mph and split his head open. Although you are wearing a helmet, it doesn’t seem to be covering the whole noggin. One fall on your face going at those speeds and you’re done. I would also reduce your speed on that path by like 10 mph you’re straight up wild going that fast😂. Stay safe and nice phantom . I’m pretty sure I’m going to get the ghost pretty soon.
Oh yeah. How long would it take you to get home by car?
Yup! I fully agree and I plan on getting a nice BMX downhill full face helmet for next season. May even get knee/elbow pads.
Hi I’m looking to buy a phantom in Calgary but I’m so confused about the private vs shared laws / rules. I just want to ride one to work. See a guy ride one every morning. Just don’t want to make such a huge purchase and then be fined and not allowed to use it .. any insight would be awesome
I'm in Calgary too, but I'm sure you knew that from the video. :D It's legal to ride an e-scooter in Calgary on bike paths. You can't ride on the roads and you can't ride on sidewalks, but all bike paths are fair game. There's a grey area because no one lives on a bike path so clearly they must allow for some use on roads/sidewalks to get to a bike path right? That's the idea. From what I can tell, it's not enforced at all as I've personally taken my e-scooter on roads and sidewalks as needed, around cops, and no one batted an eye. The unofficial rule is, 'Don't give them a reason to stop you' so try to be courteous and don't ride fast on sidewalks and/or don't ride on the roads during heavy use. Most cops/bylaw officers won't know a non-rental scooter from a rental scooter until you start doing stuff rentals can't do like hitting 60+KPH. Hope this helps.
No shit you crashed you are reckless dangerous & have nop regard for others you ride this like it's a race track take chill pil
Riding like the with no safety gear is stupid .
I'm wearing a helmet, stupid.
10:27 this guy one day will fall by himself and break something... i mean i guess the scooter is safe, but his driving is too agressive... he drives like hes racing all the time, dude slow down, at least on corners... that speed if you hit something you break bones for sure... not to mention the head but i hope at least hes using a helmet... he went full race mode 5sec after a crash... tbh i think people sometimes only learn when something really bad happens...
that's awesome. how much kms do you cover in this video?
13.1KM one-way.
Oh my gosh, please slow down! Please don't hand you or someone else a Darwin Award. Scooters are like maverick horses, barely tamed and ready to run wild at any moment. Stop signs aren't suggestions! 😵💫 Way too fast for public paths! If you want to fly, buy yourself a jet! 30 or so MPH on a shared path? I get the need-for-speed too, but not anywhere where's there's pedestrians! Living on the edge you are.
This is why e bikes have limits. Coming to scooters too with this type of riding.
You know, I am just as guilty. I didn't have mine 2 months, thought it was a bicycle, and at higher speed than I should have been going, had a blow out and down I went, also, the faster you ride, the more maintenance! Brake pads wear quickly with fast and hard stops, and seems the parts are going to be a big part of expense of ownership. I cut way back on the use of my Apollo. They need to evolve a bit more user friendly before I would recommend buying an inexpensive scooter first, using it for a couple months then purchase an Apollo if you like.
I don't find maintenance a huge issue. 1500KM and my pads are fine (they are ceramic) and my tires are in good shape though I plan on replacing them with PMT tires next year. Not sure what you mean by user friendly, the Apollo Phantom is amazing and super easy to use.
Too fast one lanes dawg. Like for real should not be freaking people out. I said to myself. If My bike can go 0-30 within 3 to 4 seconds. Then I can slow down a bit. Which also helps with preserving as much battery as possible
Are you talking MPH or KPH? Bikes lanes are limited to 20 KPH but I usually sustain 55 KPH. I once tried going at 35 kph but man alive it was slow. I just love going fast.
@@jriding6161 You’re saying 55kph “34mph” is not fast for lanes? Personally that’s too fast. What I do is buy a coffee and sip the coffee while going slow. If I can’t casually drink my coffee. Then I’m going too fast.
@@ripp3rjak934 Drinking coffee while riding has to be more dangerous than not drinking coffee while riding no? I never said 55kph wasn't fast. It's very fast. My Phantom can do 65kph but I stick to 55kph as going an extra 10kph just means more time accelerating and braking.
@@jriding6161 I don’t think you understood what I said. I don’t ride 30mph drinking coffee. When you have a coffee in your hand it forces you to go at a much slower pace. I ain’t talking about riding beside traffic drinking coffee. I’m talking riding with coffee on a public trail where people walk. Having that coffee in my hands forces me to move slower and have better control over my bike. It’s EASY to go fast. It’s much harder to control your urges. I go as slow as 15 to 20. When I have coffee in my hand. Which forces me to have better slow AND controlled movements. It’s discipline. If your bike already goes 0 to 30 in 3 something seconds. It wouldn’t hurt to slow down when your using a PUBLIC trail. If you want to go fast go on the road.
@@ripp3rjak934 Oh, I understood your comment fine. You think riding while drinking coffee is safer than riding while not drinking coffee, but going faster. We do not agree on that point but you do you. If you want to ride while drinking coffee, that's your business.
4:40 *CRASH* more of an abandonment
Thanks for sharing what can happen if you're not careful on a scooter! My biggest worry is we have a few incidents and governments decide it's easiest just to ban. It takes guts to post a video like this for people to criticize.
Thanks. I know there are some cities that are really backwards when it comes to e-scooters but I think that'll get fixed with time. It's a little backwards here in that I cannot use sidewalks or roads, yet rental scooters can, though it's not enforced as far as I can tell.
4:45 OOPS!!!!!!
Wear gloves and a helmet. Took a nasty fall on the burn 2 yesterday. Shamed my head against the pavement. If I didn't have a full face helmet my brains would've been all over the floor. And gloves saved my hands. Ride safe!
Yeah, this video is old. I now ride with proper gloves but I still need to upgrade my helmet to a full face and get some type of jacket/pants that are armoured. Thanks bro!
░p░r░o░m░o░s░m░ 😚
How much, total was your scooter, and how long did you have to wait for delivery? And any unexpected changes I would encounter?
I paid about $2700 Canadian and it arrived in 3 business days. Unexpected changes? Not sure what you mean but the e-scooter was flawless and hasn't giving me any trouble. Not even a flat tire after 1400km.
What u think u in a motorcycle lmao bro u could have killed some one slow down
Pretty brave to post this, I think, as you have to know you would get scolded for speed and perhaps recklessness. Glad you and the scoot only had minor abrasions. Love my Phantom and she's a beast so not personally ever wanting to experience a fall that could damage her. Rode 20 miles today and hit a personal best of 43.5 mph on a very slight downgrade and a public street. (Was a 35 mph zone!) So I get the whole need for speed. Be careful and let's hope you and I never meet on the same path going opposite directions! LOL
Thanks. I did expect lots of negative feedback as I know I'm going faster than more people are comfortable doing. My max speed was 46mph going downhill and it was super fun! Ride safe brother.
1 minute in the vid and I can already see two reasons why you crashed. 1) you are travelling against the direction of bicycle traffic and 2) you are going way too fast.
Boy, you're observant lol. That's exactly what I said in the description. I went over the centre-line and I was going too fast. Thanks for commenting.
@@jriding6161 one thing I forgot to mention was that I'm super glad you and your scooter were okay.
