Hello, would this kind of seal help to stop a stitch from bursting? I took in my son's combat trousers for cadets, double stitched but always worried they'd burst. Just wanted an extra bit of strength to ensure he is not embarrassed by a ripped seam.

Double stitching a seam like this will help keep the whole seam from bursting yes. The seal tape itself will be bonded to the seam so may help keep it together but likely won't be strong enough on it's own to hold a burst seam. Faux-flat felled or traditional flat felled seams would be a great option to make seams resistant to busting open but even if they did the construction would mean they're less likely to bust completely.
