While limiting your children's access to alcohol may seem important due to those statistics, it is important to note that teenagers will almost always drink regardless. The level of monitoring will have to be so extreme that it can easily drive a boundary between parents and their children, and will most likely result in the children obtaining and consuming alcohol in dangerous ways. The kids that truly don't drink until they're 21 probably have incredibly low genetic risk to AUD in the first place, or simply don't want to drink due to other factors. The ones that do drink before 21 are usually doing so under less than ideal circumstances due to the parenting. Be very careful to the advice you listen to on the internet, and think long and hard about things like this. They can change your children's life.
