Tours of America's National Parks and quick one day itineraries.
Glacier National Park - Montana
Join us on a fun two-day adventure to explore my favorite National Park of all 63 Parks in America. I share with you my experience of seeing Glacier National Park by traversing the 50-mile Going-to-the-Sun road that bi-sects the park and stopping at many of the scenic overlooks to view waterfalls, glaciers, valleys and the scenic peaks. Through my videos and photographs I share some history of the park and some "Did you know" facts about the park along the way. I show you the great places to visit in the West Glacier, Lake McDonald area, as well as the Logan Pass, Saint Mary, and Many Glacier areas of the Park. I hike around the western edge of Lake McDonald on the Rocky Point Trail, hike down to McDonald Falls, Sacred Dancing Cascades and the Red Rock Trail on the western part of the Park. Hike the epic Highline Trail and amazing hike up through the wildflowers up to Hidden Lake. On the eastern part of the Park I high some of the Three Falls Trail and to the Sun Point Overlook at St. Mary Lake. On the Many Glacier part of the park I hike around the Swiftcurrent Lake up to Lake Josephine and accidentally hike with a Grizzly Bear! I encountered Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goats, Golden Mantled Squirrels and a Grizzly Bear during my visit.

Stunning visuals! Thanks for sharing these amazing views! 👍1
#1) Wonderful, Wonderful! A hearty "thank you" for sharing. What a treat!! #2) There should be an annual "Best UA-cam Video Award Competition by Category" 💡💡💡(meaning a good ideal!!), because this is THE BEST VIDEO CAPTURE of subject matter I've seen. Not "good job" to you; rather, "spectacular job" to you!!
... oh yeah, #3) Lastly, I usually don't like the accompaning music on most videos, but I must say, I actually enjoyed the music plot too!!
Thank you Karen for the compliments, much appreciated and I am so glad you enjoyed the video. This was such a great adventure and it was my pleasure to share it with you and the viewers. Thanks again!
This is very special. Harry S Truman was excellent
Yes, he was one special guy and very proud of him for his Presidency and getting us through some tough times back in the days.
thanks for sharing this...hoping to backpack a few days next summer...would you recommend flying into this town or one of the towns on Dalton Highway like Coldfoot
Actually, I would recommend that you fly in to Kotzebue and taking the charter flight in or the other alternative that it is a lot cheaper is to fly with Wright Air from Fairbanks to Anaktuvuk Pass and land in the small village.
@ ty I did not know about Kotzebue I’ll look into that. Do you think backpacking for a few days can be done alone or do you recommend bringing a partner along?
@@gakkaoutdoors most definitely you should bring someone with you to hike, wolves and grizzly bears make this park their home and it is not advisable to hike alone in this vast wilderness. Be safe and enjoy this beautiful park.
@@adventureswithwesandjeff thank you and best wishes!
Nice video and photos. Overall good presentation on the park but a few of the dates and facts were not accurate. For example you stated park visitors at 1.5 million annually when visitation in 2022 and 2023 exceeded 2.5 million.
@GregFisher-wk1qs good point, the visitation numbers do fluctuate each year, but on average, the Park gets about 1.5 to 2 million visitors per year. In 2022, the visitation of National Parks peaked due to Covid ending, and people wanted to out with nature.
That was just one inaccuracy I heard wasn’t trying to make a big deal out of a few mistakes. The Park attendance so far this year is trending to exceed 2.6 million this year, so although Covid brought attention to the outdoors and parks it does seem to be a temporary blip. Regardless I just appreciate you visiting and producing the video to let others know about the United States first protected land.
Great video! You had fantastic weather! Those blue skies! Wow!
I had really nice weather for my visit. I got a little scared because there was a wildfire just east of the Canyon and the smoke was lingering in towards the end of the day, but it all worked out and made for a orange glow sunset.
Really an amazing tour. Loved the energy of the video. Ur appreciation of nature really came through.
Thank you, that is so nice of you to say.... I really enjoy and appreciate nature and each and every time that I visit one of these parks it is truly a great adventure and reenergizes me from the stresses of everyday life.
amazing video really enjoyed it. subd and 👍2
Thank you so much 👍
Always look at my gig at LCA with enjoyment.
Another fantastic adventure! Looks like a great spot to maybe camp a few days on the river, take along a pack raft and do a little exploring around the area. 😁
Absolutely! Being one of the most remote and hard to get to National Parks also means almost complete solitude from crowds and a very peaceful enjoyable place to visit on a raft or just backcountry camp for a couple of days. Loved my brief visit to this amazing place on our planet.
Beautiful scenery, and fantastic photography, Wes! A beautiful part of my home state, that I've never visited--you are so fortunate to be able to experience it! Adding it to my "to do" list! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Found your channel due to looking for dispersed campsites near Yosemite which are always full in peak season. Will check it out this summer. Subscribed to appreciate:)
Awesome, thank you! Please let me know if that dispersed camping spot is still available. I sure hope it is, it is a primo spot!
Thank you for sharing your experience! My husband and I along with our kids travel to Monterey very often especially during the summer. Next time, we do want to do a whale watch tour. 🤩 Quick question, did you take any motion sickness pills?
No, none of us took any motion sickness pills, but we knew before hand that we weren't prone to getting sick with the movement of the boat on the water. Only one little kid on our boat got sick everyone else was fine. I would recommend that just as a precaution and to make your trip more enjoyable you should take motion sickness Dramamine or something similar prior to your trip if you think you might get sick.
Would you recommend this spot for tent camping as well? Great video!
Yes, should be enough room for tents and a great view as well.
Great informative video. Thanks!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Grand Teton is not the highest peak in Wyoming. There is one in the Wind River Range that is slightly higher than GT. I’ll let curious viewers look it up.
Nice video. I've been there. Your picture of a Dall Sheep is actually a mountain goat, not a sheep.
Oops...you are right! Thanks for the correction, I will see if I can fix it.
just a day trip
Yes, just a day trip to Anaktuvuk Pass. Flight leaves early morning from Fairbanks and the return flight is in the afternoon. There are no hotels or motels in Anaktuvuk Pass, so the only way to stay in the area would be to get a room at one of the locals on Airbnb or camping out in the wilderness.
Fantastic to watch! Thanks Wes!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool place to explore! The salt part is interesting, have you done the salt flats in Salt Lake City?
No, I have driven through on Interstate 80 across the Salt Flats near Salt Lake, but we didn't stop it was too hot and in the summertime.
Hey Wes, we met you here at Great Sand Dunes National Park at the sign and talked for around 1 hour. Glad to stumble upon your video and check out your previous adventures and ones going forward. Your words serve as an inspiration to us as we were amazed at how many National Parks you visited on your way to the ultimate goal of seeing them all. This video provided an excellent summary of things to do at Great Sand Dunes and the surrounding area. You deserve a lot more views and subscribers given the passion you have for the natural beauty of the country. One day down the road, we hope to visit all the National Parks as well. When we met you, Great Sand Dunes was our 4th National Park. We currently sit at 15. Keep up the good work!
Hey guys thank you for the wonderful comments and so glad you found my channel and thank you for the subscribing. Such a great conversion we had at the sign at Great Sand Dunes on that morning and I am so glad you guys were inspired by my words of encouragement to visit all the National Parks. That is such great news that you are on your 15th park visit and you are having fun getting outdoors and seeing these natural wonders in America. Now, I am currently on my 60th National Park and just last week they added a 64th National Park to the list, so the list is growing! The new National Park is located in Colorado on the southeastern border with the State of Kansas and it is called Camp Amache, it was a World War II Japanese Internment Camp. Keep up the visits and I hope our paths and adventures cross paths again someday.
Great video! I am really looking forward to the Pipiwai Trail sometime soon! Also congrats on 200 subs!
A small milestone for sure!
Another awesome video!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the encouragement Alaina, I really appreciate it and so glad you are watching and enjoying our travel adventures! Hopefully they have inspired you to see this vast and diversified country of ours!
Great Video, thanks for sharing. We are going next Spring.
Have fun! It really is a great adventure!
This is your best video ever! Can't wait too explore this park some day! Is it always so empty?
Wonderful video, Wes! Amazing how the islands change. I was there over the summer and we definitely could not walk to Bush Key. My husband and I snorkeled and had so much fun. We are definitely going back again later this year since we live in Tampa.
Thank for sharing, greeting from Cambodia ❤
hope you had a good year
I'm going to guess that Jeff is an Aquarius and Wes is an Aries.
Wes is a Virgo, and Jeff is a Libra!
I've always wondered what was out on those islands! Have been to Catalina further south but never the Channel Islands. Love this video!
also do you think you could you swim there in the summer?
I always wondered too what was out there in those uninhabited islands. Being a native 7th generation Californian, Jeff was intrigued to explore the islands and see thus part of California. He really enjoyed helping me make the video and said it was our best presentation to date. The history, the unique wildlife, and the spectacular scenery make it a great adventure right in our own State.
@@LifeisaPhotoOp You could swim and snorkel around the islands, but the water temperature never gets over 64 degrees even in the summer months. So, it may be a little chilly, but doable. Most wear some sort of wet suit when diving and swimming in the waters near the Channel Islands.
Coming from San Diego we have a 6 hour layover in Miami but it is so worth it, time and time again.
Yes to the great outdoors!
Awesome video! Keep up the good work! ❤
Thank you Alaina, glad you enjoyed our adventure.
Nice video of Grand Teton.
Thanks so much for the compliment.
My favorite adventures at New River Gorge National Park was the Canyon Rim Trail and Boardwalk, visiting the boat launch at the base of the New River Gorge Bridge and the hikes at Tunnel Trail and Sandstone Falls. Views at The Grand View Overlook were amazing as well. Enjoy your journey and adventure please share your trip with me.
I absolutely love your videos!! I hope to visit many of the parks now!
Thanks Jen for the compliments and so excited about your adventures, please share them with me and enjoy!
Great video! My husband and I have made it a goal to hit up every national park. We are 16/63 into the journey and are loving it. I have all the itineraries planned out, to include the more difficult ones like the remote Alaskan parks and American Samoa. We just returned from Virgin Islands NP a couple weeks ago. So amazing! So far, my husband loved Grand Canyon the best and while I agree that it's an amazing NP, my favorite so far was Channel Islands NP. Such a wonderful place to explore.
Thank you for the compliment on the video. Such a great goal and at first it seems a little overwhelming to accomplish, but one by one you will create a wonderful memory for you and your husband. My husband and I made it our bucket list goal to experience this life adventure to visit all 63 National Parks and we are currently on #60 and just 3 more to go, American Samoa, Kobuk Valley and Lake Clark. We plan to visit American Samoa in early February and the other two remaining parks in Alaska in the summer of 2024. We loved the Virgin Island NP and had a great time in February of 2023 and I revisited the Grand Canyon a couple of months ago and visited the Channel Islands NP last fall. We loved all three of the those adventures as well. Thanks for the comments and please subscribe to our channel for future postings of my visits to the parks. I have so much footage in my hard drive that I must edit and post on UA-cam, so stay tuned and hopefully you can get some tips from my adventures to help you prepare for the remaining parks that you plan to visit. Let me know how your adventures are going. What is your next park that you are planning to visit?
@@adventureswithwesandjeff Sounds like you guys have been busy! Our next planned parks are Cuyahoga Valley, New River Gorge and Shenandoah in May. Then in Sep, we plan on doing Mammoth Cave, Great Smoky Mountains and Congaree. That'll finish up everything on the east side of the U.S. and all else will be out west after 2024. We are excited!
Best uncles ever!!! ❤
This national park looks amazing! I've also never been to the Big Island so it's definitely on my list. Thx for sharing your beautiful photos in this video! PS props for helping that beautiful doggo!
Cool video
Thanks for posting! Great spot, just camped there the last 3 nights. Hope too many people don’t find out about it but if you hadn’t posted, I wouldn’t have known about it either.
So glad you found my video and enjoyed this dispersed camping spot near Yosemite National Park. Don't tell anyone!
Thanks.
That's amazing. How much was the airfare?
I am very lucky and I work for Alaska Airlines to get me up to Fairbanks, but I did have to pay for the Wright Air Service roundtrip from Fairbanks to Anaktuvuk Pass. I think the fare from Fairbanks is around $250.
😂
Awesome
Good video, the video would be even better without the horrible music.
Met you in Acadia on the beehive trail ! looking forward to your video !!
So nice to meet you all up at the top of Beehive and our chat! I am working on that video now and it should be out in the next few days!
@@adventureswithwesandjeff likewise ! looking forward to it ✌🏽
I just posted the Acadia National Park video on here...hope you enjoy and have similar wonderful memories of that National Park.
@@adventureswithwesandjeff loved the video ❤️ thanks for sharing your perspective! Acadia was a dream ! Enjoy the rest of your journey!
Hello Wes
Hi Wendy! Thanks for following us on UA-cam, now we need Dr. Freeman!
Thank you for sharing 🥾🥾
Our pleasure! So glad you enjoyed watching and learning about places just outside Yosemite Park that allows dispersed camping. Let me know if you had a similar experience at this place.
OMG that looks amazing!
It was! So much fun and a really great time of year to visit this Park.
