2-stroke performance engine - special JAWA piston repair
Good day again.
This video, effectively is a result of a slightly too specialised engine part that is not available in any stock. I had the choice between a lead time of 2 or 3 months for a new, expensive customised piston or a repair and machining trial, which ended up as special as the entire engine.
For those who want to do a similar repair: The bushing press fit was 0,03 mm (oversize) which should be sufficient to keep it position. As it is not a part under static load I’d never ‘glue’ it in position, like some do.

2 questions, first how much do you waight and second what is the compresion ?
Compression ratio and weight is less relevant than low exhaust port timing.

Do the twin pipes work well? I'd have to imagine that you need to make different pipes for the same stroke and displacement engine if it used only one exhaust instead of two, no?
The twin port is not ideal, but belongs to the bike. Exhausts should be smaller in diameter but with similar length compared to single port.
@@Q.L.Engineering Interesting, I'm now reading a book on 2t porting and so on, in it there wasn't any mention of how to fabricate an exhaust for a twin exhaust port bike, thanks for the reply.

That's a very complicated casting. Did you do it yourself?
No. A precision caster 😉 did that for me.
Have you ever considered putting the jawa in its most powerful form on a dyno to see how much power you make?
I did that 2 years ago. Around 35 HP and 47 Nm of torque with modified exhausts.

I ride such an old twin too, but don‘t what to make it stronger. The single actually has best potential for that kind of modification.

Hi Sigfried . I see youre using Motul 7100 10w-40 in the gearbox.. i use in my 559 80w-90 transmission oil but my jawa is stock. Could i use same oil as you without damaging something ?
I use a mix of 1/3 Motul 7100 and 2/3 Castrol MTX Gearbox Oil. With Motul, the clutch works much better when cold.
