    Hello! Thank you for the video. I am wondering, what is the proper name for the thick belt being tied on at 15:45? (Before switching to the sarashi).

    Great video! I always wondered why some depictions of armored warriors only had the kote on one arm. I (foolishly) assumed it was coming from a swordsmanship background, maybe because the weak arm served a more defensive purpose or to decrease weight / drag on the cutting arm. This makes much more sense, and is a pleasant reminder that the warrior's primary weapon was their bow!

    My favorite iteration of the 'ghost haunting new media' trope is from the japanese horror video game series Fatal Frame, where you use a device called the Camera Obscura to photograph and exorcise ghosts. To the audience, and to the characters we play as, it's indeed quite an old-fashioned, bulky contraption, but to the occultist who invented it to capture spiritual phenomenon, it was cutting-edge tech. And of course, the ghosts we fight and encounter are also often quite old themselves. One of the ghostly antagonists in the fifth game was only photoed once in life, shortly before her death.

    Nikkey is a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese food. Don't steal someone else's culture and ideas. It has nothing to do with Brazil. If you want to invent your own fusion, call it differently.

    • @DoBrasilaoJapão
      @DoBrasilaoJapão Місяць тому

      Nikkey means Japanese descendents born outside of Japan, there are Brazilian nikkey, Peruvian nikkey, North American nikkey

    • @michelbachoir3145
      @michelbachoir3145 Місяць тому

      @DoBrasilaoJapão but nikkei food has become popular because of Peru. And has always been known as peruvian-japanese. The others want to jump on a wagon they didn't build.

    • @DoBrasilaoJapão
      @DoBrasilaoJapão Місяць тому

      @michelbachoir3145 never heard of it and I imagine that all countries that have Japanese descendents also have nikkei food

    • @michelbachoir3145
      @michelbachoir3145 Місяць тому

      @DoBrasilaoJapão look in Google. Also, the most famous restaurant of nikkei food is Nobu. Go into their website, and they explicitly say nikkei food is a mix between peruvian and Japanese food. This restaurant belongs to Robert de Niro.

    • @michelbachoir3145
      @michelbachoir3145 Місяць тому

      @DoBrasilaoJapão "After school, Nobu spent seven years working in a Tokyo sushi restaurant, before accepting an offer to open a restaurant in Lima. Weaving Peruvian influences into his dishes, this was the creation of his signature style"

    4:31~ The _hakama_ worn in the vid is more for everyday use. When wearing suits of armor, a special _hakama_ called a _karusan_ (軽衫, light under-trousers). It has the hems tightened beforehand so the _sune-ate_ can be worn more easily. 21:52~ The standard method to secure the _menpou_ is to tie three square knots: one under the chin, one in front of the chin, and one behind the neck.

      Sure, but in the 1970s preserving the Otoko no Roman authentica was not the point. The point was to sell a science fiction cartoon to children who loved Star Wars. It was 100% the right choice at the time.

    It is very cool learning about the core nature of BL. I get it better now that I see it was originally made for heterosexual women as a kind of fantasy, BL has come far in its inclusivity for queer identities. Now I see why BL arguments on 'why is bl like this and that' may be a bit more nuanced than I expected. Very surprised to see such an honest take from the Korean BL analysis that seme use sexual violence to control the uke. That's brave.
