    Went through a few thermostats on my 2016 Jeep Rubicon the last 18 months. The OEM thermostats for jeeps have been on backorder for years with no end in sight for whatever the reason. I noticed the first thermostat failure had motorads name on it. Looked for thermostats everywhere. Long story short….these motorad thermostats are the most garbage POS money sinks on the market and guess what? Doesnt matter if you buy from Autozone, O’Reilly, Napa, i’ve had to buy a few now and they are all MOTOCRAP brand as embossed on the actual thermostat, but hidden in Duralast, etc. packaging from anywhere you get them. I would have rather spent $200 on a thermostat that doesnt leave my family stranded on the road every 6 months however it seems like you can’t escape this companies deceitful packaging of turds. I would rather be robbed cause at least the robber isnt hiding. Let me guess….motorad offers a warranty to replace their old turds with a fresh turd. That doesnt help with the expense of flushing the OAT coolant each time or the road that I am now stranded on with no help. This is just my experience and opinion of course but felt compelled enough to leave this comment to hopefully save some people from the frustration. My thermostat has gone bad again and am hoping to find ANY other brand thermostat in stock somewhere.

    Boy this is a load of crap. My 03 mach 1 reach 240* which is definitely over heated. I had just done timing chain tensioners, so had to drain the coolant. Thought I burped the air out. Guess not. But come to find out this failsafe thermostat didn't stick in the open position. And it doesn't open 100% either so I've been running 200-204. Just changed to a conventional one and haven't seen over 195

    Ive purchased multiple Rad Caps and when tested using my PSI tester none really hold up. I've got a 2010 FX35 and the rad PSI is 20psi.... ive ordered 3 rad caps, all OEM and they start to leak at 15PSi.... its super annoying because all my coolant ends up in the expansion tank. But i noticed the neck that cmaps onto the filler on the rap caps are a big "warped" not sure if thats normal, so i'm going to use a plier to straighten them and test.

    Beware! Just recently changed a radiator cap and nearly destroyed the engine as it wouldn't allow the coolant to return to the radiator from the expansion tank and resulted in the engine getting hot as most of the coolant went out of the overflow in the expansion tank.

      12 bc you dont want to over pressurize the cooling system. Might cause a hose to come loose etc. But dont run on 12 for too long also bc you might be loosing coolant through the reservoir. Then you'll be low on coolant. Which will cause engine overheating and leading to heads warping and/or head gasket leaks.

      @hotrodray6802 Рік тому

      Normally thermostats fully open 10-15* above the rated begin opening temperature. At about another 15* they'll go into fail safe open. I've tested them at 235* lock open. 50/50 anti freeze is good for 256* with a proper cap. Many @2020 GM pickups show 260-280* on their gauges as normal. 😳 And the gauges go to 300*.😳 Those might be rated higher. (?) BTW ALWAYS test your cap with a pressure tester. Youll find even MOST new caps are not up to spec.

I bought a fail-safe thermostat, with same 180 degrees, and still the car overheated again! I ended checking water pump, but that was brand new because timing belt change.
