Headless Bass Guy
Приєднався 25 бер 2022
I have no music theory at all, can't even name the strings on my instruments (I go by 'thick' and 'thin'), but I LOVE the sound of a bass guitar, and enjoy trying to emulate - to the best of my limited ability - some of the incredible bass masters out there.

Know How by Young MC Bass Cover I was first introduced to this song watching the movie Baby Driver. Great movie and a great song. There is still much I haven’t conquered, esp the slap piece at the beginning. But it is fun to play... -Conal Gallagher

Amazing cover, as always.
Thanks again!

Love the 70’s music, a great group rarely given much attention nowadays. Thanks 👍
Totally agree, an underrated group for sure. Thanks for the comment!
thanks! I've been trying to learn this for a while now and this helped a ton!
Glad it helped! Thank you
Your tone is nice‼️🤌🏽
Thanks so much!
Super dope playthrough! Very much enjoyed.
Thanks for the visit!
Many thanks, shivers up the back again for me.
Glad to hear that!
@@headlessbassguy Well I'm a 35 year Bowie veteran so you can imagine the collection.
It's ok but there's a 1,2, 3,4 and then the syncopated (16th rest) followed by the 2 bars of 1 e and a, 2 e and a, not 8th notes. That's were the sauce kicks in. I've watched other videos but I can hear that run. I can't find that version on youtube but it's out there somewhere.
Thanks for the feedback. I can't actually read a lick of music. One of my biggest regrets. In fact, I have no idea what it is you're trying to convey to me above. I play solely by ear and try to break things down in my head by listening to a song over and over ad nauseam. Obviously there are limitations with this approach though, and I do miss a lot of the technical nuance.
@@headlessbassguyyou still sound great, and although it may be challenging, I know you can learn it! Just subscribed 🫶🏽
Yes, you’re right though!
Thank you. I just subscribed to your channel also. Super impressed that you can sing and play bass at the same time! Respect
@@headlessbassguy aww! I appreciate that so much! Thank you for your support as well!♥️🙏🏽
Killer. JM, PM, JP. Love playing this in her tuning
Thanks. I can tell you're a Joni fan. Glad her music is back on Spotify!
Class 👍
Thank you!
v nice ~ !
Thanks a ton!
Congrats on an original cover. And - well executed!
Thank you very much!
Some serious stuff there. Was that Tony Visconti play bass? It was before Trevor Bolder was bass for Bowie.
I think you nailed it with Tony Visconti! You certainly know your Bowie :>)
@@headlessbassguy width of a circle: what an album.
@@steviemac8075 You mean "The Man Who Sold the World" (1970). Unless you mean the tiny box set that came out not long ago - it was never an album.
Ooft, who’s the aficionado, am I conversing with Bowie’s wife? “Iman the dishes are piling up love, when you get a minute” 😂
pretty good 👏👏👏👏 you play bass so well, it's comfortable to see you playing idk how to explain
Thank you, I appreciate that!
@@headlessbassguy ur welcome 😁 it's really nice when someone plays the bass properly bc I personally think the bass frets are very separate from each other, I got used to the guitar lol
beauti
Thanks!
nice job mr headless
Thank you kindly!
very nice, i loved it 🤩
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback
The tone of the fletless is unbeliveble🤘🏾
Thanks for that comment!
Siempre había querido ver un video así, el bajo es hermoso en esta canción 🤘🏼
Thank you!
Very good!!
Appreciate that!
A magnificent instrument, shiny like a mirror, the playing is also magical 👍
Many thanks!
Do the extended version please
Can you record yourself playing Another Cha cha and the house of the rising sun (extended versions) ?
Wish I could get better bass ❤ well jealous 😜
Sounds an looks beautiful. Did you it figure out all by yourself? Had this Song with my teacher this week and we struggled quite a bit to find the right notes. Do you have any tips for this piece?
Thanks for your comment. And kudos to you working on Bernard Edwards material! I did work it out myself, but feel I missed quite a bit. Since I can't read music, I use the Moises App (moises.ai/) quite a bit to separate out the bassline in a song so I can figure the nuances in some of the trickier songs. Great app, I highly recommend it. Hope that helps and good luck!
Great job! Nice bass. I always like the Fender Jazz maple necks with the rectangular fret markers instead of dots.
Thank you, and I completely agree on the fret markers!
Kill Bill is also where I came across this gem. Tarantino introduced me to so many dope songs. Magnificent performance Headless Bass Guy!
Thank you! I totally agree on Tarantino. Especially some of the Ennio Morricone material. The way he weaves it into his movies is incredible. Thanks for the feedback and commentary as always.
Again 😂
Yeah babe ❤
Phenomenal work Bass Guy, real smooth stuff.
Thank you kindly!
Great cover
Thank you!
WOW Very Impressive 🕺
Thanks ✌️
Can you explain how you got that tone? I want to figure this one out
Hi. I believe Peter Hook of New Order fame used a 70's Clone Theory effect pedal. I don't have one, but I do have a Zoom B6 Multi-Effects Bass Processor. It has a Clone Chorus tone which I goofed around with until it got somewhat close. Hope that helps!
@@headlessbassguy Wow thank you!! this is perfect since I have been looking into buying pedals, since I dont have any special ones.
Respect for putting your own stamp on this, rather then a direct copy of J T bass line.
Thank you very much for that kind comment!
That's some killer technique man, excellent stuff.
Hey, thank you for that kind comment. Really appreciated!
nice try, keep working hard!
Thank you, I will
Thanks for this! Pretty bass, btw
Thank you!

You are a great Bass player. RIP Steve, he was a horny fcker and lived a great life.

Have you ever made a cover of headless cross from Black Sabbbath? 🙂 Geezer Butler#s basslines are mostly amazing..
I have not, but I will be sure to add to my list. Thanks for the recommendation!
Amazing cover, as always.👍
Thanks a lot 😊
Another great performance and an awesome song. I don't know anything about guitars but this one seems aesthetically perfect for this song!
Thank you! ABBA had a number of bassists, all of them extraordinarily good. I think Mike Watson played this one
This song always makes me smile and I like the fun extra bit toward the end!
I am impressed you stuck with it all the way to the end!
You're a real professional: keep playing despite what happens. Shoulder strap be damned. Great song. Thanks for your cover.
Thanks for the early morning chuckle and for sticking with the video long enough to see the strap malfunction!
That sounded great, Sir
Thank you!
Great job!!! Tabs?
Apologies, I do not at this time. I would love to add Tabs, but haven't yet figured out how to do so on my videos. Something I will look into though!
