Steve Hargate Photography
United Kingdom
Приєднався 11 сер 2020
Hi, my name is Steve Hargate, I am relatively new to photography and videography, i do it for fun not as a profession, I live in Barnsley South Yorkshire and I am a busy Driving Instructor by profession and my way of relieving stress and removing myself from the madness of busy rush hour roads is my passion for photographing the landscapes that surround us in all seasons and in all weathers.
I have created my channel Steve Hargate Photography so that I can create simple content to document some of the journeys that I make around the UK in pursuit of my passion.
I can often be found either up a mountain, hiking a Lakeland fell or by the waterside, whether that be river, lake or sea or simply enjoying the tranquility of my local woodlands or rivers creating images that convey a sense of what see through a lens.
I hope you can join me.....thanks for watching.

Outsmarted by a Fence Post
So in this the second of three short films from Scotland I found myself dumping the car, firing off a few random shots and then settling for what I thought might be second best, but I was wrong, oh and me being me for a good 30 minutes generally overthinking stuff, I got outsmarted by a fence post.

For various reasons some of which I mention in this short film 2024 has been a difficult year for me and I will be glad to see the back of it, but hopefully things are starting to improve and my routines are getting back to as near normal as possible, anyway I recorded this short really simple 15 minute film and created the images whilst en route to Glencoe for a well deserved weeks holiday, I ...
Penmachno Roman Bridge (Not Roman but 17th Century?)

After leaving the Fairy Glen behind I raced against time to reach my next location, an old pack horse bridge famed for its beauty, titled Penmachno Roman Bridge it is not actually Roman, although it is thought to have been built on the site of an earlier Roman bridge. it did not disappoint.
The Fairy Glen. No light but well worth the entry fee (and the twisted ankle and bruised knees}

Back in November 2023 i took a trip to North Wales with two locations in mind, the first one is the subject of this shirt film, I had no fantastic shafts of light streaming through the gorge but I did have high water and wonderful Autumn colour, one to return to for sure.

It's taken a while to process this film, I knew I would get around to it but illness and back trouble kept me away from photography and all things related to it for far too long, but now I am feeling better I have vlogs to edit and outings to plan, I enjoyed this short walk, and so did Connie and Pippa. Thanks for watching
Luskentyre, One Of The Worlds Best Beaches (Apparently!)

Ranked 13th best beach in the world by the BBC in 2019, i have never been to the others so I can't compare, but it beats Bridlington that's for sure,
I Thought This Place Was Special (but what am I pointing at?)

Wow! What a find, right by the side of the road, I noticed this place travelling north through Harris And Lewis but photographed it heading south to Luskentyre before heading for the ferry back to Skye, an old fishing bothy on the banks of Loch Bhaltois Isle of Lewis.

After losing my dead cat to the sea at Elgol I now lose my wireless mic at Callanish so no talking in this short vlog, no need really!

Please read the description!! I tried my best but if the wind noise annoys you just skip the the 3 images at the end, I actually worked hard to create them, they are taken from the same very very wet very windy and very precarious position, I didn't realise at the time but the dead cat from my Rode wireless transmitter blew into the sea so I might have well not have bothered with it, anyway the...

ICM, intentional camera movement, love it or hate it it certainly makes a change, in this short film I try to make my images of a beautiful pristine Bluebell woodland floor a little different by moving my camera vertically whilst releasing the shutter on a timer to create patterns, I experimented with compositions, focal lengths and shutter speeds to create images that are definitely different ...
I have To Keep This Place A Secret (so no-one gets shot!!)

I was out driving around the area recently on a lazy bank holiday Monday looking for Bluebells when I stumbled upon a sea of blue, there was a gate and it was open but it felt wrong to be there, as I investigated I could see that the path from the gate lead to a style over a wall and out of the wood but it became apparent that the woodland was clearly a well managed prestigious pheasant shoot, ...

Following on from our very wet day trip to Raasay its now New Years eve and the weather has improved enough for me to actually get out of the car and wonder around a little without getting absolutely drenched, so we find ourselves in a few different but equally stunning places around Skye as the day goes on finishing back in Portree for a few Hogmanay celebrations.
A Rainy Day On Raasay
Переглядів 706Рік тому
So for the first 3 days of our holiday on Skye it rained, and rained, then rained some more, so for a change we decided to take the ferry from Sconser to Raasay where it was also raining, but at least we could get a coffee from the distillery we thought, but no it was closed. Anyway I got a good idea of the lay of the land and whilst driving around I braved the rain and took a few soggy phone s...

A few weeks ago in late Autumn I mentioned in a vlog that I would return to this location when the weather turned cold, so during this cold snap the country is going through I returned to one of my favourite places.

A Sunrise one was very nice! Trecking over rougth ground with your camera atop an extended tripod is a bit risky by the way...
13:18 mate wow love that
Beautiful images. FYI your audio is only coming in on the left channel on the video, not sure if it's your mic or the balance was cranked left on the source in your editor. Cheers!
Really nice images Steve.
Very nice
Brilliant this Steve 👍
Very nice vlog and some lovely images Steve 👍 Nice to see the fence has gone from around the castle, and hope everything is on the turn for you 👌
Fabulous set of images Steve. Good luck for 2025 - I know how you feel about this year as its been horrendous for myself and the family . atb Alan

Lovely woodland images Steve, a nice relaxing video, a bit quieter than the last video you were in with Compton he never stops talking, this was so pleasant to watch and loved watching the Dogs they were beautiful, looking forward to the next one, regards Colin.
Some cracking shots Steve, My favourite is 16:41 , takes a certain eye to pull off that amount of foreground so well 👍👍
It had a green roof when I photographed it about six years ago.

It was a brilliant few days mate, thanks!!

Cheers mate!
you do like the rain lol
Paul you know that wherever I go the rain and howling wind seems to follow, unfortunately for you if you are with me it's usually pi&&ing it down and howling a gale, but I love the bad weather, once your soaked through to the skin you can't get any wetter! Thanks for the comment mate.

Will do pal.
breath taking hope deb got her pint or 3 x
I had to send a text when we got to the carpark Angie and by the time I got into the bar she had finished her first.
Thanks very much.
I've still not been to Elgol, been to Skye many times. You got some good results, the weather suits that view.
We only ever go to Skye in the Autumn or Winter so it's always cold but every time we go to Elgol it is blowing a proper hoolie, I agree storm clouds over the Cuillins look good but I would love a nice colourful sunset over the snow capped mountains just for once so I will keep going back until I get it. Thanks very much.
Some great photos at the end Steve, but all I want to know is - was it Rosie the dog or Ruby?!
It was Ruby, my Springer was Rosie...d'oh!!
Great to see you getting out again Steve and beautiful images. No need to apologise for the time between vlogs, it’s always a bonus when I get a notification you’ve posted something. All the best for the new year mate, I’ll look forward to your next instalment 😊👍
Thanks very much Mark, happy new year to you too.
oh wow did you not see the sniper on the left at 00:58 haha ? And when are we getting out again
Ha ha ha, I see what you mean Paul, I hadn't noticed it but you are right the broken fence does look like someone in the bushes with a gun.
nice little find that
It was but what can you do with Bluebells Paul? In Wales we where saying that almost every Bluebell image we see now is mysteriously misty, I've never seen mist when I have photographed them so they are just photos of Bluebells but in my next video in another bluebell wood I try icm to make them look a bit different, I know you're not a fan of icm cos I over heard you talking about it in Wales, but I quite like them, anyway if my imac don't pack in again hopefully that video will be out next weekend. Thanks.
Cracking Steve, Glad you didn't get on the wrong side of the muzzle! :)
There was a clear path with a style o er the gate and wall but it felt wrong, I know that if it feels wrong you probably shouldn't be there but I couldn't resist exploring a bit, I just had the feeling that the gamekeeper was watching me all the time with his loaded gun.
Great images Steve
Thanks very much Steven how are you?
The sheep have more road sense than the toorists ! Fact 😂
They where deffo not in any hurry, thanks for the comment.
I have only just seen this pop up.. i enjoyed the morning mate but my god it was wet...lol
I'm still drying out mate...in June. Thanks.
I thought you had taken no photos and was wondering what you were about. But you had saved them till the end. Very very nice they are too. Well done.
Thanks very much for the comment its very much appreciated.
Great content , i loved watching and I've subscribed.
Thanks very much Simon for the sub and the comment.
g'day from Sydney Steve Hargate's @stevehargatephotography6390 - your new photography mate Paul @PaulComptonPDphotography recommended your channel, nice "colab" ( collaboration is king in growth on youtube ) by both of you.. great to see we've got you over the 100 mark, you're well on your way to 500 now, and 1000 next, keep at it, as those vloggers in photography with 100k+ followers took 10 to 15 years to get there, so just keep powering away, grow organically and naturally, have fun, before you know it you'll be at the 1k mark, then 5k, then 10k, and 100k in now time at all ;-)
Thanks very much for your comment, 500 would be great but I'm in it for the fun.
@@stevehargatephotography6390 - stay safe, stay awesome ;-)
Hi Steve, just watched Paul's vlogg and now yours, enjoyed it mate and you managed some cracking shots even with that awful weather 😀
Thanks very much, it was very wet but a great day.
beautiful
Thanks very much.
