My Brother Ming!

Peter, you just encapsulated the story of my life. From being a tiny little weirdo who could never compete or fit in during my high school years to discovering climbing, I journeyed from misfit to Mr. Fit. Climbing wasn't just something that I did, it became Who I Was - a Climber, competent and confident. It taught me most of the important lessons I've learned over the years, and now, at 70, it's teaching me how to let go of the past and be my best self today. THANK YOU for being an inspiration to so many. 🙏

Peter, thank you for this story, I learned something important about myself and the challenges in my life.

I had a similar experience falling off of a highball project. The top of the boulder was probably about 25 feet. High enough that I really never considered falling from the top, it seemed unthinkable. But when i finally was about the complete the problem on a humid colorado day in early summer, I slipped from the final hold and fell back hard and far. I missed all the pads, landed cleanly on both feet in worn out climbing shoes. I felt absolutely no impact on the hard rocky and uneven ground, I was complelty fine. Its stuck with me forever, we are capable of so much more than we think.

I think my head just exploded. That was really, really profound, Camille. I can relate to it more than I'd like to admit and I hope your wisdom finds its way to many more talented people. It doesn't take courage to be talented and succeed. But it takes enormous courage to publicly try your best and still risk failing. I wish you told me this when I was 12.

Such a genuine person. Back in 2010 met JJ when he was waiting his parents restaurant for our mammoth lift maintenance party in Crowley. So kind and down to earth, was refreshing to meet an idol and have him be so 👌.
