Raccoon and Koi
This video shows a raccoon holding a koi fish. Details like the whiskers, eyes and hands.
People ask me all the time if I do commissions, YES I do. Dogs, cats, horses, birds etc...
If you want your pet needled felted send me a message.
The foundation of your sculpture is most important, if that is not convincing, well then.....
When beginning a piece, I use the Plain 38 triangle needle - general sculpting.
.......the Purple 40 spiral - rapid, fine, for finishing.
.......and my favorite is the Yellow 42 triangle - finishing the surface and fine detail.
The main focus are proportion and symmetry.
The key is to know what to edit and what to keep. Also how to lay the colors evenly and when to apply heavy texture to create the look you want. Think about the personality of the animal you want to portray.
Practically anything can be needle felted. Give it a try.
Sometimes you need more than one reference when working on your creatures.
Having a good reference is paramount.
After a while many characteristics become committed to memory.
Make sure you have the foundation the way you want it before applying the color and details.
If you can draw you can sculpt.
Work all sides simultaneously.
Take your time executing the details, too much detail can become too busy.
Try not to enclose a shape, it becomes a distraction.
Felt from natural fibers like wool is considered to be the oldest known textile.
Using barbed needles the end product is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibers together.
Why anyone came up with bird brain, I am not sure, birds are smart.
I love to needle felt birds, there are so many different species, and they are very colorful.
Brenda Gordon was born in Washington DC.

Brenda has lived in Connecticut, Washington DC. Northern Virginia and Florida.

I consider myself a plein air impressionist.
I love to capture the light of the scene, to capture the mood, so one can feel the air in the imagery.

Giraffe | Houston we have a Problem | Pt 7

Giraffe (Houston we have a problem) Pt 7 In this video I had a problem with the wobbly head of the giraffe once mounted on the plaque. I had to reinforce with 16 gauge wire. I shoved wire down the mouth and then used another piece up the back of the neck, then twisted the two together. That seemed to fix the problem. Now I have to clean up the needle felting, all that shoving messed up the work...

Giraffe Eyes, Ears and Face Part-4 In this video I show you tips on creating the facial features of a Giraffe. Using soft felt to make ears and adding core wool to shape the ears and make them stand up. During the video I sped up the film, don't worry i didn't say anything worth hearing. Starting a Giraffe Mane part-3 In this video I show you how to create a Giraffe mane down the neck. The idea is to get the wool to stand up, using the longer fiber wool is the best way to do it. Hermoso....!!!!!
Hermoso......!!!!!!
I love this, we lived in Macon Ga before returning to Uk, and I was so excited to see my first hummingbird I remember ringing my husband at the office to tell him! This is beautiful thank you SO much. VR.
So glad you like it.
I really love this tutorial, thank you so much from Cornwall UK. VR
That is so cute 😍
I prefer to hear you talk and tell us what you are doing . Too many people make videos with loud music and it drowns out what they are saying. This is an instructional video.
Watched a couple of your videos, you are so talented.
How kind. Thank you!
I really prefer the whole animals like in this instead of just heads. The connotation of a beheaded animal is creepy. I will never make just a head that appears cut off. Your art is fabulous I want to try it but I’m afraid mine will be bad. I can’t even draw an animal so why would I think I could make a 3 dimensional image of an animal. You are extremely talented!
Thank you, many people love the animal heads after all it’s just wool. Doing the entire body is a lot more work than just the head.
Maravilloso gracias España 😊😊❤
Thank you! 😀
His features look amazing!
Brilliant 🤩
Thank you! Part four coming soon.
Could I have a list of the color of wool and what kinds of wool you used, pretty please :)
I couldn’t tell you exactly what I used. See the link for Living Felt in the description. It has all the colors. I can tell you to use the short fiber wool MC-1 or merino top and not the long silky wool.
Thank you Brenda :) @@brendagordon1348
Great job/tutorial.....What needle did you use ?
I use the yellow needle triangle, fine finish
Thank you :) @@brendagordon1348
I just finished watching this series and your work is amazing and you make it look effortless. I also love your presentation of this what a beautiful idea!
Thank you so much!
I prefer you talking and arguing with your video guy I assume is your partner rather than music. Lol
Oh you two are hilarious sounds like myself and my husband 😊
Where did you get the eye feathers
I could not see the full method of the tail. How it was attached and created. Is that part of the video shown somewhere else?
Is there a part 6 to see finished bird?

Hi, this is amazing. Do you have a video series on how to make this bird ?
Not yet!
Thank you for your reply. I will have to wait patiently 🐦🐦
Fantastic felting, I am really enjoying this series about the squirrel.
I'm in awe of your talent. I'm new to felting and am still doing more cartoon type stuff but hope to achieve more realistic pieces in the future

ua-cam.com/video/JRaQittDDWI/v-deo.html I found this video explaining wool. Now I know why it's so hard, I have 'top' wool and for the spider and filling its better to have carded wool! And I bought stuffing/fill wool that is top wool and not carded, that is way harder to use in my opinion.
Awsome idea to frame it like that! ❤️ To bed we can't send pictures on youtube, so I could show my progress and when it's done. Do you have facebook?
I started my spider, it's hard to do and creepy haha. I looked up a photo from the underneath of a tarantula, that helpt me to place the legs. And then I saw they have multiple 'cushions' at the paws, so cute! 😛 I have two kind of wools, the one is like more longer and hairy and the other.. lol, I don't know how to describe it, it's different.. 😛😛 It depends what you want to make, I wanted to use the one that is less hairy, but didn't have black. The hairy one is nice to use for longer hair like cat's. My learning point is that I use to much wool and make it to dense and thick. So my spider now has a big booty. 😂
Magnus & Gordon Gallery try posting your tarantula picture there.
